goodlawproject.org/update/advisory-group-transgender/

I know that there is another thread on JM but thought I would start a new one as this has just been released. First of all he has named the people on his advisory committee. They include Alex Sharpe, whom we know all about and about whom no more needs to be said.
Second, they are trying to force a change of policy from the Tavistock that they give PBs simply on parental consent to children who cannot consent to them. That is chilling and dangerous and puts an awful lot of power in the hands of adults with nobody to protect the child’s interests. JM has lost the plot.

There's burning bridges, and then there's detonating a massive fireball on your entire life.

merrymouse · 01/01/2021 22:38

(Although odd to be leaving the Bar whilst a QC in my 40s.)

According to wiki he is 49 and a half so ‘in my 40s’ is pushing it a bit. But maybe lack of menopause means that men think about 50 differently.

PotholeParadies · 01/01/2021 22:41

Aren't they selling the windmill in order to pay their builders?

Perform your values, indeed. Hmm

TiersDryOnTheirOwn · 01/01/2021 22:42

Can anyone explain the windmill to me? I’ve seen a few references but I don’t understand what it refers to!

PotholeParadies · 01/01/2021 22:46

He's being sued for not paying his builders.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/01/2021 22:51

He lives in a windmill, Tiers.

ghislaine · 01/01/2021 23:03

The windmill was on the market for £3 million and is under offer, so even if he does have to pay his builders the half a million they’re claiming, there’s still a nice profit to be made.

TiersDryOnTheirOwn · 01/01/2021 23:07

Thanks all.

JamieLeesCurtains · 02/01/2021 08:10

The Comms job she does (Parliament restoration and renewal) was advertised at c £56k, @ghislaine, according to publicly available information on LinkedIn and Glassworks recruitment - which isn't exactly megabucks for the Smoke.

I think Don Kimonė is planning a life in politics ... he's ambitious and loves the media, he larches onto popularist causes...

JamieLeesCurtains · 02/01/2021 08:50

I'd love to know how much CGT he negotiates paying on the same of the windmill.

Sexnotgender · 02/01/2021 08:50

£56k really isn’t that much actually. I assumed the position would pay more. Very interesting.

I would like to think clubbing innocent animals to death in your back garden and boasting about it would prevent a political career but I know that would be a foolish assumption.
ghislaine · 02/01/2021 10:54

He was going to start his own party a while back but nothing seemed to come of it.

PlantMam · 02/01/2021 11:03

His wife had to resign from some sort of political position iirc. That wouldn’t bode well for a political career either!

Southwark Council 2015. Looks like it was his fat gob that got her in trouble?

Today our favourite tax lawyer is arguing with doctors about how to interpret guidance aimed at healthcare professionals, and how he thinks HCPs on the ground will read it.

Gosh, his arrogance really does know no bounds...
nauticant · 02/01/2021 16:23

The other day he was advising on the legal position of parents taking children out of schools in the face of the pandemic. He's a Renaissance man is Jolyon.

PotholeParadies · 02/01/2021 16:29

What's going on with him?

Other lawyers are usually acutely conscious that they are only experts within their own speciality, and far more aware than the average bear that pontificating outside their area will lead to humiliation when a specialist comes along.

Did they sell the Southwark house to live in the windmill in Sussex during the £750k renovations? I was getting the impression that the windmill was investment.

Obviously could be wrong.

This is a different world from mine.

ghislaine · 02/01/2021 19:26

I don’t think they ever lived in the windmill and “annexe” for any sustained period of time. The children were at the same school throughout and two are still there I think.
