STONEWALL ARE HOSTING AN ANTI-MISOGYNY WORKSHOP I’M NOT EVEN KIDDING

Alongside that other paragon of feminism Stella Creasy, and Susannah Fish who Google informs me is a retired Chief Constable of Nottinghamshire Police and has an OBE.

I don’t honestly know which I’m feeling more...

a) the urge to laugh until it hurts at the sheer ridiculousness of Stonewall having anything to do with any kind of anti-misogyny campaign;

b) absolute fucking steaming rage at their audacity after everything they’ve done to trample all over women;

c) astonishment that they haven’t got a TW involved somehow.

They’ve limited replies but the retweets with comment are quite heartening...

Who wants to bet that the only people who are successful at getting someone convictiled of a misogyny-aggravated crime is... not female?

Kantastic · 07/10/2020 22:25

Before Stonewall training: [rape threats] [death threats] [suck my girlpp]

After Stonewall training: How dare you say women don't have penises, that's misogyny. I'm calling the police.

30 seconds later: Suck my girlpp.

aliasundercover · 07/10/2020 22:26

c) astonishment that they haven’t got a TW involved somehow.

They've still got time

highame · 07/10/2020 22:28

I think it would be very easy to argue that Misogyny is a crime against biological women (ancient Greek) and as far as I'm aware, that's the only sort of woman there is

highame · 07/10/2020 22:30

Just read that, doesn't sound right????

SirVixofVixHall · 07/10/2020 22:31

What an absolute joke. They are trolling us, surely ?

FannyCann · 07/10/2020 22:39

I think this will be connected to the Law Commission review of hate crime.

Thread here:

Law Commission consultation on including women in hate crime legislation - but they talk about "gender" www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4043925-Law-Commission-consultation-on-including-women-in-hate-crime-legislation-but-they-talk-about-gender

Pretty sure I know which sort of women stonewall wants to protect from hate crime and which ones they want to criminalise.

midclegs101 · 07/10/2020 22:42

Peter Tatchell has been talking about this for a few months. This needs watching carefully I think.

OvaHere · 07/10/2020 22:46

If they make misogyny a hate crime I'm almost certain the first person arrested will be a woman.

I have no faith that it won't be used against us.

fakenina · 07/10/2020 22:57

ah, fantastic! I'll pencil that in for just after the EDLs anti racism weekend. Blinding.

ChakaDakotaRegina · 07/10/2020 23:13

Oh god we were joking that they would try to ‘support’ women next when they were fishing around in the DSD funding pool recently.

Their reach is so wide now they could really go into anything - elderly support, single dads, dog owners. If it can be linked to LGB+ people they’re in.

Do you think they’ll use the treatment of a certain famous writer as an example in this session?

AuntyPasta · 07/10/2020 23:23

’If they make misogyny a hate crime I'm almost certain the first person arrested will be a woman‘

Agree 100%

FFSFFSFFS · 07/10/2020 23:29

Are you sure it's not a How To?

yourhairiswinterfire · 07/10/2020 23:43

I don't trust their intentions one bit. Having a fucking laugh, aren't they?

Like making a fox the head of chicken welfare. No thank you.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/10/2020 23:50

@AuntyPasta

’If they make misogyny a hate crime I'm almost certain the first person arrested will be a woman‘

Agree 100%

I doubt that would be the intention of Susannah Fish - isn't Notts where they trialled including misogyny alongside the other protected characteristics, in good faith afaik? (I'm in two minds about the whole 'hate crime' thing).

FairFriday · 07/10/2020 23:53

Well they do have unique insight don’t they?

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 08/10/2020 00:02

Stonewall preaching against misogyny. There’s not enough sarcasm in the world to express my response. Words have failed me.

RozWatching · 08/10/2020 00:22

Alongside that other paragon of feminism Stella Creasy

Yes, Stella who recently asked women to share their experiences of misogyny (I assume it was for this project with Stonewall) and then blocked those with "wrong" experiences.
Hilarious.

DoctorTwo · 08/10/2020 00:36

I won't share what I think Stonewall has become, because it might get deleted and I might get hit w ith the banhammer. I do think they've abandoned their core principles in the years since equal marriage, which is a shame. I support gay rights, always have done as I believe the gay friends I have, and have had, deserve equal treatment to me and other straight people, but now they don't seem to support that. For shame.

midclegs101 · 08/10/2020 00:39

So I'd want to keep a close eye on Peter's involvement with this.

NiceGerbil · 08/10/2020 02:45

I can't see any comments on that link.

Have they binned them all?

I'm not good at working Twitter.

DryHeave · 08/10/2020 06:16

Misogyny will never become a hate crime, because no one can describe what a woman is any more. Hmm

NecessaryScene1 · 08/10/2020 06:32

If they make misogyny a hate crime I'm almost certain the first person arrested will be a woman.

That's the way these things work.

Britain's first "transgender hate crime prosecution" was brought against a trans person by a non-trans person. On behalf of the TRA lobby.

www.spectator.co.uk/article/a-collapsed-case-shows-the-perils-of-policing-transphobia-

Of course this would end up being used the same ironic way.

Although I'm not sure it would make a lot of practical difference. They would already have you for "transphobia", so not sure that having you down for "transphobia + misogyny" particularly changes the basic fact they're trying to drag you through court for "hate".

wellbehavedwomen · 08/10/2020 08:39

So if misogyny becomes a hate crime, does that mean we'll finally be able to hold Stonewall to account?
