STONEWALL ARE HOSTING AN ANTI-MISOGYNY WORKSHOP I’M NOT EVEN KIDDING

Alongside that other paragon of feminism Stella Creasy, and Susannah Fish who Google informs me is a retired Chief Constable of Nottinghamshire Police and has an OBE.

I don’t honestly know which I’m feeling more...

a) the urge to laugh until it hurts at the sheer ridiculousness of Stonewall having anything to do with any kind of anti-misogyny campaign;

b) absolute fucking steaming rage at their audacity after everything they’ve done to trample all over women;

c) astonishment that they haven’t got a TW involved somehow.

They’ve limited replies but the retweets with comment are quite heartening...

@Melroses

Unbelievable. Nothing has changed. So much for "place at the table" and working alongside Stonewall.
PronounssheRa · 08/10/2020 21:38

ForwomenScot and SafeSchools_UK were also excluded.

At this point I am wondering who was actually allowed to attend.

Kit19 · 08/10/2020 21:41

Creasy has been trying to justify it on twitter saying it’s all about an existing stonewall campaign against misogyny so it wouldn’t be fair to include ppl/orgs who wanted to talk about someting else

she’s being ratioed to fuck by ppl pointing out if you don’t define woman you can’t define misogyny

PronounssheRa · 08/10/2020 21:43

existing stonewall campaign against misogyny

Stonewall wouldn't recognise misogyny if it bit them on the arse.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 08/10/2020 21:44

For Women Scot not being allowed is bizarre. They have been a really loud voice in Scotland trying to get sex included as a characteristic in the Scottish hate crime legislation.

I really hope someone managed to sneak in. Given the orgs Stonewall chose to disallow I'm rather concerned about what this is actually a front for as we all know that Stonewall doesny give a shit about women.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 08/10/2020 21:45

Also, do Stonewall actually have an existing campaign about misogyny? I've not seen anything about it? Are they campaigning for or against?

CharlieParley · 08/10/2020 21:55

When For Women Scotland pointed out that there were no nefarious purposes behind their wish to attend the workshop, just a desire to inform themselves about it, Stella Creasy said that assuming nefarious purposes was the logical conclusion.

Because we cannot criticise a workshop on misogyny being held by an organisation publicly engaged in misogynistic campaigns for any legitimate aims, of course.

Considering that this was an online workshop, where the organiser can mute all, some or just a single participant from the outset, this is a lame excuse.

No known opponent can disrupt this kind of online workshop if the organiser knows they're there. The only reason to exclude an opponent who cannot possibly disrupt you, is to make sure they do not know what you said in your workshop.

SunsetBeetch · 08/10/2020 21:59

Wow, she is appalling!

SirVixofVixHall · 08/10/2020 22:49

She is a total traitor to women, how any woman voted for her is beyond me.

NiceGerbil · 08/10/2020 22:50

OMFG at that response from an MP.

Jesus.

Lesbians have nothing useful to say about misogyny. Righty-ho.

AnyOldPrion · 08/10/2020 23:01

It is both frightening and sad what Stonewall has become

The most frightening thing for me is how blatant it is now.

They’re not even bothering to pretend.

There are many women’s organisations they could have used to front this, but instead they’ve gone straight to Stonewall.

How much more of this are we going to have to endure?

CharlieParley · 09/10/2020 00:13

@MichelleofzeResistance

It's not odd at all, it's doing the usual get ahead of the law, own it, define it, wholly appropriate everything for …. well no clues needed.

But basically it will be about ensuring female people are vanished.

Yes.

Principle 31. The publicly declared aim of the Yogyakarta Principles that Stonewall et al subscribe to is to erase sex as a legal category. From all laws. Worldwide.

The GRA was a step towards that goal.
Self-id is a step towards that goal.
Transitioning children is a step towards that goal.
Replacing sex with gender is a step towards that goal.
Campaigning against the sex-based exemptions is a step towards that goal.

And getting in on redefining misogyny to refer to sex stereotypes instead of sex is a step towards that goal.

@Thelnebriati

So their starting point for a workshop on misogyny is TWAW?
I wonder why TWAW would come into an anti misogyny workshop to begin with to be quite honest.

I thought 'misogyny' against transwomen was 'transmisogyny' which is a totally different thing.

Not surprising if the point is just to spread more bollocks, rather than actually trying to work on their own (and others) actual misogyny. Of course the ones who suffer most from misogyy are the male born. How ridiculous to think otherwise. Silly women Hmm

ThinEndOfTheWedge · 09/10/2020 17:07

So their starting point for a workshop on misogyny is TWAW

And there was me thinking that insisting TWAW is a form of misogyny.

SirVixofVixHall · 09/10/2020 19:02

The only people who experience trans misogyny are transmen.
