STONEWALL ARE HOSTING AN ANTI-MISOGYNY WORKSHOP I’M NOT EVEN KIDDING

Alongside that other paragon of feminism Stella Creasy, and Susannah Fish who Google informs me is a retired Chief Constable of Nottinghamshire Police and has an OBE.

I don’t honestly know which I’m feeling more...

a) the urge to laugh until it hurts at the sheer ridiculousness of Stonewall having anything to do with any kind of anti-misogyny campaign;

b) absolute fucking steaming rage at their audacity after everything they’ve done to trample all over women;

c) astonishment that they haven’t got a TW involved somehow.

They’ve limited replies but the retweets with comment are quite heartening...

@MichelleofzeResistance

It's not odd at all, it's doing the usual get ahead of the law, own it, define it, wholly appropriate everything for …. well no clues needed.

But basically it will be about ensuring female people are vanished.

yes that is exactly my fear

Nail on head...

'What do they think the gyn is for in misogyny then?'

Gin?
Laydees love gin and tonic, and many can't spell properly cos their brains are full of kittens, bless.

Melroses · 08/10/2020 14:52

Is this like the "we're still here" conference where they were advocating joining in with women centred campaigns like "make period poverty history"

JM’s campaigning tips were to gain trust in the local community- and to approach moderate feminists, “correct misconceptions and forgive any ignorance they may have displayed”. They want to gain trust and make themselves likeable.

"Apparently small acts like helping to campaign about period poverty or retweeting the local branch of Women’s Aid will make a difference and result in some reciprocation. They want to make it look like they care about Women's issues so they don’t appear threatening"

I think as said up thread this is a deliberate attempt to coopt the consultation going on about including women in hate crime legislation where they are implying it might be about gender, not sex.

Please reply to the consultation to make sure that women are included in hate crime legislation but on the basis of sex.

Does make Labour look awful though, to work with Stonewall rather than a women's charity. Shows just how far the trans agenda has gone that anyone would think that women are now subsumed within the alphabet soup. But also shows how corrupt Stonewall are. In the past any decent campaign group would have said, sounds interesting but as it is about women dont you think you should contact groups directly representing women.

And Nottingham - well what do you expect when you think of the history of Nottingham women's centre.

So much for sisterhood. Sad

Cocothefirst · 08/10/2020 15:01

I'm absolutely furious.

NewlyGranny · 08/10/2020 16:00

I suspect their definition of misogyny will be as off-the-wall as their definition of woman, though. It's not boring regular women they'll be interested in defending, just those AMAB ones. The AFAB kind will no doubt be the misogynists for not being nice and sisterly and handing over all their hard-won rights.

This is going to be a real Alice Through the Looking Glass event.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 08/10/2020 16:40

LGB Alliance have not been allowed to register.

Kit19 · 08/10/2020 16:44

it seems they're asking anyone/any org they perceive as GC what they will be 'contributing' to the discussion

sooooo anyone can come providing they agree with the stonewall definition of woman which is a pointless starting point

what a shitshow

MichelleofzeResistance · 08/10/2020 16:55

Well there you go. The whole workshop will be based on 'woman' and therefore misogyny being a mixed sex concept.

Something interesting to refer to in the consultation to place on record of those who gather replies that ooh look, there's a political lobby busy capturing narratives to redefine female people, while excluding females even from the conversation if they are likely to be unwilling regarding their redefinition and forced teaming with male people.

Eventually the government are going to have to locate their gonads and make a decision. Do female people exist or not?

Incidentally, if I don't exist, I will not be paying taxes.

highame · 08/10/2020 17:11

I am sure there have been plenty of discussions about the lack of women representatives on issues about women. I think we have made our point, so if Stonewall don't include women's groups and think somehow their findings will have wide appeal, they'd best have another think.

Not so naïve now, not so kind now Hmm

Stella Creasy is a complete shit-show isn't she? The arrogance of her in that thread. Wouldn't trust her an inch.

ThinEndOfTheWedge · 08/10/2020 17:25

A reply to Stella for not allowing a group headed by Lesbians to attend.

Is it not misogyny to refuse females access to sign up for a misogyny boot camp?

Now the Labour ‘Patriarchy’

RozWatching · 08/10/2020 17:35

Right, so Stella Creasy refuses to work with the women-led LGB Alliance?
But she will work with Stonewall, the org that has been undermining women's rights for the past five years.
And this is supposed to be an initiative to tackle misogyny?

Fuck off.

SirVixofVixHall · 08/10/2020 17:42

Trojan horsing. I find this pretty scary actually. Like all the male people suddenly fixated with “period poverty”.
It is both frightening and sad what Stonewall has become.
As a pp said , a misogynistic, homophobic shitshow.

SirVixofVixHall · 08/10/2020 17:43

As to Stella Creasy, she is no champion of women.

IheartJKR · 08/10/2020 17:45

@AuntyPasta

’If they make misogyny a hate crime I'm almost certain the first person arrested will be a woman‘

Agree 100%

Terrifying

Well said.
FairFriday · 08/10/2020 19:37

Well Stella's Labour. Say no more...

FairFriday · 08/10/2020 19:41

Looks like they are screening the attendees? Safe school alliance didn’t get a place. I didn’t realise there was a limit on zoom delegates...

The reg page says nothing about who is running this or why. I wonder why that is...

Thelnebriati · 08/10/2020 20:50

So their starting point for a workshop on misogyny is TWAW?

Definitely a successful misogyny workshop.
