What a relief. I suppose in the light of the 'Proud Trust' the sinister Warwickshire Council sex advice for children and the exposing of all the queer theory advocates merrily churning out materials for schools, the pressure to rein things in became immense.

You should work together with parents on any decisions regarding your school’s treatment of their child, in line with the school’s safeguarding policy and the statutory guidance on working together to safeguard children. This blows apart all the trans guidelines for schools - Cornwall, Allsorts and the rest telling schools they can transition children in secret from their parents.

Many many thanks and congratulations to Transgender Trend and Safe Schools Alliance as well asthe countless women (and men) working behind the scenes Flowers Flowers

I feel quite overwhelmed at this.

MichelleofzeResistance · 24/09/2020 17:35

So grateful this week to Baroness Nicholson, Stephanie Arai-Davies, Nic Williams, all the fabulous women who have pressed on and on and on [and on and on] tirelessly despite all the flack thrown at them until the messages got through. Flowers

itsor · 24/09/2020 17:35

Does this mean Mermaids will have to retire their ridiculous Barbie to G.I. Joe (who I thought was called Action Man in the UK but I digress) spectrum teaching tool thing? Woohoo.

cheeseismydownfall · 24/09/2020 17:36

Or, more to the point, if I have a buzz cut (for convenience) and wear trousers (because they are warmer) then I am also expressing my gender? Which gender would that be?!

I think this whole statement is going to be retracted or at least heavily reworded because surely even Mermaids can see that they are making no sense now.

OhHolyJesus · 24/09/2020 17:40

Well this is bloody brilliant news!

Here's what Safe Schools Alliance tweeted

https://mobile.twitter.com/SafeSchoolsUK/status/1309170056442544129?fbclid=IwAR3iKcgobHL59gvfNYquy57ZWPyI6Ck9JOc3Mcu4ijw3Zd9zniud0Fzz_UyE

yourhairiswinterfire · 24/09/2020 17:45

It's a massive contradiction cheese.

They're basically saying ''of course girls who like Action Man and short hair aren't transboys, because stereotypes don't define being a boy/girl/man/woman', whilst also saying that women who adhere to masculine stereotypes are transmen. They also seem to think that being a natal woman is a fucking "gender identity".

And these people were ever taken seriously how? The idiots have no right to be 'educating' children. I hope this is another nail in their coffin.

persistentwoman · 24/09/2020 17:49

And this is so bloody important:

It is important when using external agencies to take particular care that the agency and any materials used are appropriate and in line with your school’s legal duties regarding political impartiality. Your local authority, governing body and headteacher must
forbid the pursuit of partisan political activities by junior pupils
forbid the promotion of partisan political views in the teaching of any subject in the school
take reasonably practicable steps to secure that where political issues are brought to the attention of pupils, they are offered a balanced presentation of opposing views

This has been completely undermined in recent years by so many political lobby groups involved in sexual politics and naive schools failing to realise what they are. Finally schools have been reminded of this.

KnightsofColumbusThatHurt · 24/09/2020 17:53

That Mermaids quote I posted, I don't even understand what it means. It's just reads like words put together in the hope that some kind of meaning comes out of it.

How can anyone take them seriously as an organisation? How could anyone think they were actually helping anyone?

NatashaGurdin · 24/09/2020 17:59

Surely the main problem with Mermaids et al are that they start from the point of a child being 'trans' when they are just gender non conforming and could grow up in various ways if left to their own devices under watchful waiting?

There is no such thing as a 'trans' child, there are gender non conforming children who may grow up to be lesbian or gay or in a very small number of cases may be trans adults.

They have already labelled the child and set them on a path that might be difficult to get off of if they change their minds.

The trans child has to exist, because that is what the middle aged adults believe themselves to have been.

Also, the sex balance of the young group and the old group are the opposite way round which should ring alarm bells.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 24/09/2020 18:06

The people who have listened to Susie Greene, not an expert (she's not a medic or psychologist, she's just a woman with an opinion formed from the parenting decisions she made) should be feeling very ashamed of themselves right now.

DeRigueurMortis · 24/09/2020 18:07

Excellent news.

Mainly pleased for children of course but I can't help having a wry smile at seeing a source of "training" brainwashing revenue dry up for Stonewall and Mermaids.

Let's hope the case against the CPS is successful in setting a precedent that these lobby groups should be banned from also running paid "training" to government bodies.

northstars · 24/09/2020 18:07

Excellent news, good things have been happening!

TweeBree · 24/09/2020 18:09

Brilliant result. The clear instruction is exactly what's been needed.

Need similar statements now for sex-based protections in the NHS, women's shelters, prisons, etc.

CoffeeTeaChocolate · 24/09/2020 18:12

I also really like that schools should do online searches in case they did hire an outsider as “parents and carers may do this” . Wasn’t there a case with a horrifically unsuitable person in a school and the school stating something along the lines that it was the parents’ responsibility to monitor google searches? And that the persons outside persona had nothing to do with what was delivered in school?

persistentwoman · 24/09/2020 18:14

CoffeeTeaChocolate
Wasn't that the drag queen with a dubious online presence in the Scottish primary school? Facilitated by the MP Mhairi Black I believe?

I immediately thought of that too...

This is brilliant news. I'm so relieved. I think it will make a real difference.

GenericFemalePal · 24/09/2020 18:20

I’ve been wondering - DfE has a new, female Permanent Secretary. Wonder if this has anything to do with her.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 24/09/2020 18:24

Thank you to all the wonderful campaigners. I think the danger of allowing poorly vetted external parties freedom to present to schoolchildren had reached a tipping point. The ASDA fiasco was another example.

RuffleCrow · 24/09/2020 18:24

Christmas comes early to the Radfems of Mumsnet. Absolutely brilliant. This is down to each and every one of us for keeping going and speaking out when the whole world was telling us to shut up and sit down. Massive pats on the back all round WineCakeStarHalo

Do we know if they're tackling the dodgy anal sex stuff too?

Catmaiden · 24/09/2020 18:24

Wow, that is such great news! I am so so happy to read this. As a former teacher, I am so relieved that this has been clarified.
Lets hope this spreads more widely.

moptophairshop · 24/09/2020 18:24

The TES have already covered the update:

i wondered that too. Maybe the disappearance of the other "Stonewall wined and dined champion" was not just for the exams fiasco?
JoodyBlue · 24/09/2020 18:29

Well done to those who raised awareness of this. The protection of young people was the most upsetting element of these discussions.
