More likely, or Stonewall have rejigged their website in the interim.

No. I checked the archive. The link is to the different families page.

The credibility of mermaids is in the toilet, and Stonewall's credibility is fast disappearing up the U bend.

But if people are willing to waste their time trawling through bits of information that they fondly imagine is going to help them, and then, in all apparent seriousness, post it on here, knock yourself out.

You will convince zero people on here. Less than zero.

This is FWR. 🤣

BatShite · 26/09/2020 22:16

There were definitely some trans pressure groups going into schools. Unless ours was just unlucky. Couple of years back, possibly GIRES. But one 'gender' type group were due to be doing a session with the kids. My daughter at the time was 5. It was around the same time I was waking up to all the stereotypical bollocks after previously being very 'be kiiiind'

The parents I knew, I told what this group were and the kinds of things they 'teach'. Those parents told others, and long story short, it turned out almost all parents were going to pull their kids that day, so the 'lesson' was canceled completely, and no mention of anything similar since, thank god.

My daughter has always been into a lot of 'masculine' stuff, shes also suspected to be autistic, so she had quite a large chance of being sucked in by people who basically convince her shes actually a boy Hmm

Its just a flat out lie to say lobby groups have not been into schools, had an impact, produced 'training materials' and such..but it seems everything to do with such groups is furiously being scrubbed from memory/existence now. Mermaids claiming that they ever said stereotypes meant anything is just bloody hilarious.

BatShite · 26/09/2020 22:27

This guidance also prevents TT and SSA from providing dangerous or biased information. So good news all round then.

Hahahahaha

TTs 'dangerous and biased; informatin pack that many were warned not to even read as it is so horrendous, was actually full to the brim of advice to simply..support the children..and basically EXCATLY what the guidance now reflects. The same thing that mermaids now claims they have always done Grin

If this wasn't such a serious topic, it would almost be fun watching Mermaids now tripping over themselves to pretend all the shite they have said over the years was actually not at all what they were saying. They have been recently totally mirroring transgender trend, despite spending a large amount of time saying that group is bigoted and their 'advice' is dangerous. Yet now, it turns out memaids advice all along was to ignore stereotypes? Wow.

Would love to know how they explain the recorded 'training session', if indeed they have ever relied on steretypes. How they would explain a LOT of things to do with their cmpany, if they do think its damaging to use stereotypes in deciding if a kid is trans or not. Would also like to see an explanation for why they just outright drop families if the parents are unwilling to go down the medication route. Such answers will never be forthcoming though I suspect. Instead just more lies ad manipulation. Shame they cannot just hold up their hands, accept they were wrong and then work on actually supporting children, instead of pushing an agenda by screwing over kids.

And yet the DfE recommend Stonewall as the go to guide for LGBT RSE education, not Transgender Trend.

BatShite · 26/09/2020 22:41

Mind, all that said, if mermaids, stonewall AND transactivists are all over the moon with this guidance, then all should be good. I expect they are updating their training as we speak, glad to follow the rules that they actively tried to breakdown. But no, alls good so..yey for everyone. Wonder if Mermaids/stonewall will stop the lies about TT and SSA now though, now that Mermaids/Stonewall actually agree with TT/SSAs POV, and apparently always have, afterall, it cannot be bigoted surely, if its the same as the guidance and the guidance is welcomed wit open arms and has always been the opinion of TRA types anyway! Its certainly a new develpment, but if they are genuine in their happiness about this, then great! We can get on with letting kids be kids now Grin

JellyFishSquish · 26/09/2020 22:45

And this is what we call gaslighting my dears.

But do, do carry on.

Currently. They won't if it doesn't update the guidance though.

I dn't mind one bit if they direct to Stonewall, aslong as stonewall are not peddling out the stereotype rubbish (which they surely cannot, given apparently they have never relied on stereotypes, just like Mermaids..it just looked like they did) and are all about just supporting the children, not pushing them one way or the other and just allowing them to exress themselves how they want to. Oh, stpping misrepesenting the Equality act would be good too. But baby steps I guess.

Stonewalls updated guidance will pretty much mirror TTs anyway, if the guidance is indeed followed, so it does't much matter t me which organisations is used, if they are all to avoid the nonsense. All good.

BatShite · 26/09/2020 22:48

(Also apologies for the many typos. Keyboard is on the blink again and am typing in the dark too! Not a good combo)

jj1968 · 26/09/2020 22:52

@BatShite

Heres some (government recommended) guidance from Stonewall for primary schools. It is somewhat different from Transgender Trend: www.stonewall.org.uk/system/files/stonewall_primary_best_practice_guide_2018_-_final.pdf

"The public sector Equality Duty requires schools to eliminate discrimination on the grounds of gender reassignment. This includes supporting a child to socially transition or to be treated in their self-identified gender, as well as to tackling transphobic bullying. Schools are also required to advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations. This means that schools should go beyond tackling bullying and take proactive steps to celebrate difference and promote respect of others. Schools should set specific and measurable equality objectives e.g. raising awareness of gender identity and trans people, or reducing levels of transphobic bullying and language."

I have to say I am still absolutely chuffed at the new guidance and it has made my day, my weekend, hell it has changed the direction of my DGC's lives. The relief washed over me like a wave. Does anyone else feel like that?

I know there is lots to do, but my days...WOMEN, LOOK UPON YOUR WORK!

Interesting decision to use Amnesty to support your argument on here.

Me too.

Any teaching has to be evidence based. So bone in the wrong body is out the window, as are suicide stats, hormone washes, innate essences, all of it.

Likewise, nothing can be based on any kind of gender stereotype.

It might take a while, but removing all the woo from this teaching is going to go upwards through all the years, and result in a completely different generational expectation.

Datun · 26/09/2020 23:08

And each generation is notorious for having nothing but contempt for the previous one. So I'm interested to see what their take is on gender ideology. Particularly as they will not have been taught it.

It’s called flogging a dead horse.
SawingForTeens · 26/09/2020 23:10

Oh yes Jelly. Chuffed would be one way of putting it.

This has so many far reaching consequences. Sanity is back in the classroom.

...but I thought the guidelines were fine, and were what trans groups and transactivists have always been saying? I thought it was claimed that feminists and TRAs alike were chuffed with the guidance?!

gardenbird48 · 26/09/2020 23:42

jj just chill. The guidelines are v clear and I’m sure that all us interested mums will make sure that our schools are clear that it is not ok to use organisations that promote or use material that is contrary to those guidelines.
Schools are obliged to engage with parents on the RSE content so we will be looking at all materials closely and highlighting any content or safeguarding issues.
We wish all the best to trans people but have an obvious need to protect children and young people under the age of 25 from making decisions that will affect them permanently as I’m sure you would - once a mum etc. All is good, you can stand down now and goodnight :-)
