Twitter has suspended me

Glinner · 27/06/2020 03:16

I'm really sorry to barge in on you Mumsnettters with my problems, but
I've been finally suspended from Twitter and I have a feeling they're either going to ban me or just take my verified tick. I've submitted an appeal with Twitter and the Better Business Bureau but I thought I'd post here too so people knew what was going on.

Recently, I keep being locked out of my account and forced to delete tweets to get back in. The latest tactic by trans rights activists is to run a search for any time I've used the word 'groomer', a phrase Twitter recently decided was Not Allowed.

This was not a violation of Twitter's ToS at the time I used the phrase, and I have been careful to avoid it since. I still use the word 'grooming' in various permutations because I believe that gender ideology is a form of societal grooming. It is a very real threat to the wellbeing of women and children and if our ability to name a threat is removed, it is even more difficult to fight that threat.

You may remember that Twitter similarly removed Canadian feminist Meghan Murphy. She lost her account when she said "that's him" about 'Jessica' Yaniv. Bear in mind that Yaniv was still going under 'Jonathan' at the time, and just as in my case, her crime against Twitter's Terms of Service was not actually an offence at the time she committed it. She probably never thought she could be banned from the public square for uttering the words "that's him". But that's Twitter.

Twitter has a high percentage of trans-identified employees and for some time has been silencing feminists and their allies who run afoul of its absurd 'misgendering' policies. The one good thing about my situation is that I'm in great company--Claire Graham, Meghan Murphy, Skylar Gwynn, Miranda Yardley, GNC Centric and many more, important feminist and critical voices who have been silenced for fighting a dangerous ideology that tells children it's possible to be born into the wrong body.

Anyway, that's what's happening. Please let people know it's entirely down to malicious reporting from the usual suspects and please keep watching my YouTube Channel and visiting my depressing blog. I'll also be available on Glindr if people from Twitter want to re-establish contact there. Hope it's ok to post these links to those destinations

Thanks for all the support, and thanks for letting me fight alongside you.

Graham thank you for what you've done. Making people aware of this nonsense is what has to be done. Maybe your suspension will serve as another JK Rowling peaktrans moment. It has too.

chilling19 · 27/06/2020 09:01

@glinner thank you for being a good ally.

Glinner · 27/06/2020 09:02

I don't know how to quote tweet hare, or even if that's a thing on Mumsnet, but that's interesting from OldeMagick:

"Totally agree. Makes you wonder why so many people want to silence @Glinner doesn't it?

I got banned from Twitter for alleged 'misgendering' I'm sure it's just a coincidence that I used to regularly report MAP accounts (which were still allowed to stand btw)

There were a group of 6 of us that would report any paedophile accounts we found and every single one of us got banned for increasingly spurious reasons...

Darn I woke late & missed all the fun.

Thank you Glinner.

HumphreyCobblers · 27/06/2020 09:05

Gosh why was I deleted? I am not nasty troll!

I posted a sad message of support to Glinner about wondering why we were not allowed to mention grooming.

Or are we not allowed to mention grooming?

Dances · 27/06/2020 09:06

This thread has more holes than a firing range.

It would have been good to have left many of them though the world needs to see those on the 'right side of history's conduct themselves.

But not the awful fiction. And please lads, PUNCTUATE. It makes it easier to read your threats Smile

Winesalot · 27/06/2020 09:06

@Glinner Looking forward to more podcasts. Thank you. ( @MichaelMumsnet The reactivation of the thread has been noticed further afield. )

popehilarious · 27/06/2020 09:09

Shame I missed all the fun!
Relating to the topic at hand, I've only (afaik) ever had one post deleted here on mn. It agreed with other people about what I considered grooming. It was in a thread about a certain individual's comments. The fact it was deleted for that stuck in my mind - Id have totally forgotten about the whole incident if it hadn't been.

I believe around that same time we were discussing the contents of this Twitter thread.

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 27/06/2020 09:09

Christ, what happened around here? Someone order a family sized bucket of incels and a litre of misogyny to go?

😆 The number of deleted posts on here is insane. I am at least partially sorry MN doesnt let them stand. That way everyone can see what we're actually arguing against.
Sorry to hear about the suspension, Glinner. Twitter's record on this is worrying. Like others in this thread, I've reported blatant map accounts that have been allowed to stand as well as some incredibly nasty white supremacist ones and not much has happened.
It says so much about Twitter that someone can be suspended for accidentally using the wrong pronoun but won't be for making sexualised or racist threats.

borntobequiet · 27/06/2020 09:10

Glad this is back. All the best again, @Glinner.

xJodiex · 27/06/2020 09:10

Thank you @Glinner

I feel sorry for the people who really have gender dysphoria and who wanted to just live their lives in peace. They are being made to look awful by these ''activists''. What a shame.

Reuniono · 27/06/2020 09:10

Nope, random, malicious, and unfounded accusations of somebody or a group of people being 'groomers' is against the rules. That's about it.

Al1Langdownthecleghole · 27/06/2020 09:10

Well that was the shortest 229 post thread I’ve read in a while.

Thank You Graham. You’ve taken more than your share of misery for this.

PAND0RA · 27/06/2020 09:11

Thank you for standing up for the rights of women and girls @Glinner

Glinner · 27/06/2020 09:13

@Lionface73

Thank you Graham for everything you are doing. I am so sorry your voice has been silenced, but slowly and surely the general public, who aren't on these platforms will see the madness of this ideology. Perhaps publicly posting the pornographic "schools" material on every site possible will catch the eye of the press and TV? I hope you get back on Twitter, I avoid it as it's a cesspit of incel porn and male thuggery. Take care.
(Figured quote tweets out like some sort of genius)

Yes, the schools stuff is the most pressing issue. That curriculum comes in September and if you look at my interview I posted with Stephanie it really is the grimmest reality-denying gaslighting bullshit ever. Write to your MPs with quotes from her new pack!

Gosh this thread is the biggest pile of Swiss Cheese I've seen on here. Looks like I missed the fun!

BaronessBrighterThanYou · 27/06/2020 09:15

Could anyone who was up at the time summarise violet's points?

I know a Violet and she's lovely.

Not random. I only ever said it about groomers.

You don't need to feel sorry for #Trans people. #TransIsBeautiful is on the right of things.
'Activists' by the way is a positive thing. It's activists that have improved the lives of people throughout history.

PermanentTemporary · 27/06/2020 09:16

Fine work by the mods as I've arrived very late to find a rather spectacular swiss cheese effect. I've been on twitter more than MN recently which has been interesting but not great for my mental health. It is a very odd environment being surrounded by people posting as in the deleted posts here but shorter.

@Glinner I'm a nobody on twitter but I do follow you and appreciate the light you shine on the stuff that's done with no public discussion at all. The contrast between eg the fight for marriage equalisation, which was done much more in public and of course gained huge support, and the move to tell children they might be either sex and nobody can know which one, which was done in private, is very telling. I both support you and also hope you do what's right for you. Certainly considering coming off twitter myself as I've unexpectedly got highish blood pressure and I'm genuinely wondering if it's related!

RHTawneyonabus · 27/06/2020 09:17

I’ve got nothing useful to add as I don’t do Twitter but huge thanks to you Glinner, for being brilliant and brave and standing up for women despite the heavy cost.

Xanthangum · 27/06/2020 09:17

Weirdly a bunch of the usual suspects on tw*tter were up at 3.30 this morning taking screenshots.

It is quite remarkable how much damage the TRAs are doing to the trans cause.

Frankly TWAW is transphobic; it promises a biological reality that can never happen, and it removes an individual's protected characteristic of 'being a trans person'.

TRAs are transphobic.

12boo · 27/06/2020 09:19

@NotBadConsidering

Transgender advocacy maintains the social hierarchy while redefining homophobia and misogyny as progressive.

And there we have it. Elegantly put and perfectly succinct.

Words and discussion scare them.

Agreed
