Yep, I stopped voting Labour because of this. No amount of tiny backpedalling will help.

Lordfrontpaw · 14/06/2020 09:04

It’s not a sensitive area!

Thugs and crackpots have been bullying and shoving women aside whilst their familiars have been cheering and throwing rocks. That’s when they haven’t been withdrawing from chats on mumsnet.

I am not a ‘be niiiiice’ person. I find it really hard to forgive when people have shat on me. I feel a little joy when people get their comeuppance. I may even cackle a little.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 14/06/2020 09:04

This seems good news, and I'm cautiously pleased. Really unused to being optimistic lately, will have to work on it!

Bit Sad for what happens in Scotland now, though.

Lordfrontpaw · 14/06/2020 09:05

Baroness says the has Scotland in her sights.

BringMeTea · 14/06/2020 09:06

Thank all the deities.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 14/06/2020 09:06

Re Scotland this bit:

Safeguards will be put in place to protect “safe spaces” for women, reaffirming provisions in the Equalities Act

Gives me cautious hope, as the Equality Act is not devolved presumably the ScotGov can't make law that goes against the Equality Act or its official guidance?

Lordfrontpaw · 14/06/2020 09:07

Sadly a shortlist or boardroom isn’t a ‘safe space’

Awning10 · 14/06/2020 09:07

Currently watching the newspaper review on Andrew Marr show....

NewAccountForCorona · 14/06/2020 09:08

Those ST poll results are about to be badly skewed as soon as the US wakes up Sad

All polls like this are hugely GC until the transwagon gets on board. Keyboard warriers with nothing else to do will be opening incognito page after page and voting. By Sunday, the poll will be meaningless.

FannyCann · 14/06/2020 09:10

Just posting an article from March Scottish Herald, which covers the Scottish fight to come.

Guardian today: Trans rights: government reported to be dropping gender self-identifying plans

www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2020/jun/14/trans-rights-government-reported-to-be-dropping-gender-self-identifying-plans

Lordfrontpaw · 14/06/2020 09:11

That is the guardian though. To be expected from that comic. Even their readers can’t be so blinded can they?

Kit19 · 14/06/2020 09:12

Yessssssss!!!

The government knows full well that the public isn’t behind self ID and they need a quick win atm

And honestly a government that ignored public polls where 80-90% said they should get rid of Dominic Cummings & is currently ignoring polls saying a majority of ppl think the transition period shld be extended will have no qualms ignoring a manipulated consultation response

FusionChefGeoff · 14/06/2020 09:12

I have emailed my support to:

Boris Johnson
Keir Starmer
Baroness Nicholson
Liz Truss
My Conservative MP

Anyone else??

SocialConnection · 14/06/2020 09:13

My local council is busily turning the park cafe ladies loo into an accessible inclusive loo.

Aka mixed sex toilets. In a park. Where children run in on their own.

PS the gents' loo is remaining untouched.

I have complained to the council. My objections were dismissed.

I'm going back in.

NonnyMouse1337 · 14/06/2020 09:13

This is good news. I can't wait for the full report to be released in July.

I will email Liz Truss, Baroness Nicolson, and Keir Starmer, though unsure of what to write to Starmer.

I won't break out the champagne until Scotland is out of the woods as well.

I might email my SNP MP to indicate my approval of the news so far and that I hope the SNP is paying very close attention.

Remember the Scottish elections are next year. I think I will send an email to my SNP MSP to say that although I have usually voted SNP in the past, I will probably vote Conservative if they are more willing to reflect what's being done down South. I don't have time for any political party that plays loose and fast with my rights.
The SNP bang on about the will of the Scottish people - well it's time those of us in Scotland show them what we think about self-id at the ballot box.

Lordfrontpaw · 14/06/2020 09:14

Did they say why the men’s loos are to remain? What possible reason could there be?

littlbrowndog · 14/06/2020 09:14

Ah, the lovely sound of pedals reversing.

Quote of the year!

Whatisthisfuckery · 14/06/2020 09:15

This is great news, although I won’t celebrate until it’s been rubber stamped. I’m moving into an area with a tory MP in 8 days so I’ll email him as soon as I can find the time. I doubt there’s much point in emailing my current woke Labour MP.

If this is indeed true, which on has to assume it is, it’s truly amazing. I’ve been writing and campaigning for the last two years, and compared to when I started, the difference in the amount and tone of discourse is unbelievable.

There will still be much to do, but if the contents of the article is accurate it’ll completely change the game.

i’m very happy this morning but I’ll keep the bubbly on ice for now.

ClosdesMouches · 14/06/2020 09:18

I'm afraid I'm in the sceptical camp.
This is just being discussed on Marr and he's asked his guest if it's a 'real story or just a distraction?'. (ie from current criticism of Govt). That's my suspicion too.
I hope the Times report is accurate but it's vital that we don't stop yet. Still lots more work to do and if it is accurate the pushback will be horrid.

teawamutu · 14/06/2020 09:20

Going to write to my (Tory, already on board) MP today and support this.

But also the Lib Dems and Labour. I'm actually a Labour member ATM because I joined to vote for the least demented leader (KS).

Which are the most impactful bits of labour I can write to? My local candidate was a total TWAW mantra mouther who stopped responding when questioned, so not bothering with them.

I'm feeling utterly joyful this morning. I know we're not home and dry, but the sense of women rising together is powerful and wonderful. Loves you vipers Star

Lordfrontpaw · 14/06/2020 09:21

Sometimes things are leaked out to test the water. Make sure the buggers get a rousing ‘hell yes!’ And that the howls of protest and lies are met with calm facts.

happydappy2 · 14/06/2020 09:22

In leaking this, TRAs are gifted time to organise a fight back-we must push twice as hard right now -Repeal the GRA, no more false documents stating men are women-topple Stonewall & Mermaids-return GG to single sex-re prioritise safe guarding of children above mens fetishes

Exactly, happy.
