Another bit of good news:

Sunday Times: PM to scrap plan to make gender change easier

@FantaOra

Re the 70% thing as we know there's a clear audit trail showing that stonewall, pink news et al produced auto generated submissions, and they are obviously easily counted. The government is clearly not going to asses a consultation response without assessing this kind of manipulation. I am glad to see some intelligent data analysis going on and clearly this has taken a long time to do.

Good news indeed. I am really going to enjoy watching the rage as the Tories won't give a toss.

This ^^ My work area was involved in a government consultation a few years back and it was shelved because of the skewed results. And the government publicly stated that the results were skewed through analysis such as above.
MorrisZapp · 14/06/2020 10:03

Good point about the subscriber issue. I'm not overly worried though because vastly more people buy The Times, the Daily Mail etc than the woke press.

Once people who read The Times see the actual issues brought to light, we're home free. Boris doesn't give a toss about pleasing Guardian readers and nor does he need to.

Another bit of good news:
Woo hoo!! Star
Becles · 14/06/2020 10:04

@SocialConnection

My local council is busily turning the park cafe ladies loo into an accessible inclusive loo.

Aka mixed sex toilets. In a park. Where children run in on their own.

PS the gents' loo is remaining untouched.

I have complained to the council. My objections were dismissed.

I'm going back in.

@SocialConnection

Brava! Ask for a copy the equality impact assessment, details of their safeguarding lead's view and the rationale for choosing the women's toilets for removal.

merrymouse · 14/06/2020 10:08

Self-identity is about giving people of all gender expressions the right to live without having to justify their existence, in their own skin and in peace.

Why don't they have that now?

ThinEndoftheWedge · 14/06/2020 10:09

Labour, Lib Dem’s and Greens all state explicitly that they don’t want GC women voting for them

Just the GC women? What about the GC men?

See - they know the difference when it suits...

I don’t think they get the point of being a political party... your supposed to want people to vote for you.

Looking forward to you being in the wilderness for years. And I am someone who has NEVER voted Tory.

I can't see those results on Amazon when I look for the top selling books? Would love to be wrong, am I looking in the wrong place?

FannyCann · 14/06/2020 10:10

This probably isn't the thread to post this, but it's the best, funniest twitter thread ever and I wanted to share the fun along with the joy of the Sunday Times article.

It’s only a matter if time before they try to get her books banned.

WeetabixBananaHipsterFFS · 14/06/2020 10:29

This is just being discussed on Marr and he's asked his guest if it's a 'real story or just a distraction?'. (ie from current criticism of Govt).

Surely too niche an issue to provide much of a distraction? The govt must be overjoyed by the timing of the current BLM action, with it being a proper rights issue that almost everyone cares about.

BolloxtoGender · 14/06/2020 10:30

Fantastic.

Why is MN so quick to blame the government/ tories/ Boris, with threads after threads , yer I had to come here to search for this, not even on Active. Actually not asking why, not looking for a fight. But time for reflection.

minniebinnie · 14/06/2020 10:30

This why I now hate the Guardian, look at their article. No mention of what they the government are saying no to, some much bias!

minniebinnie · 14/06/2020 10:32

Does that mean shops etc will have to not now have "mixed" changing rooms?

Michelleoftheresistance · 14/06/2020 10:32

it’s biological reality to say someone is old, or overweight. It’s rude to keep bringing that up

Confused

If a 60 year old adult is demanding to join a preschool, or go on a ride for 2 year olds, then no, it's not rude to bring up that they're too old, the 60 year old has chosen to push that boundary which was pretty rude in itself. Demanding that others don't say anything when their boundaries are being stomped on and their rights harmed because it's 'rude' is a ridiculous attempt at avoiding taking responsibility for poor behaviour or having to care about anyone else, while demanding to be unconditionally enabled.

Rebecca Root's article in the Times is just one long spiel about what Rebecca likes and what is good for Rebecca and what makes Rebecca happy. Female people and their needs are nowhere on Rebecca's radar; you'd think female spaces were just empty rooms. The entitlement, the subconscious sexism and the utter inability to notice or care about anything but Rebecca is written loud and clear, and many in the comments are pointing it out.

Michelleoftheresistance · 14/06/2020 10:35

Who's running the book on how long it takes the activist political lobby to game The Times poll?

Dances · 14/06/2020 10:38

I will not vote for a party promoting this shit. In Scotland, looks like the Tories. I'm in a marginal seat, my vote actually matters. I have never voted Tory, but I will.

I think I may tail the SNP campaigners and hand out leaflets detailing the tweets by the nutter crew within the SNP promoting this. At the last election I spoke to an SNP campaigner, a man in his 60s and told him why I would not be voting SNP. He was unaware of it (how?) but he was def troubled with what I was telling him.

Thanks to J K Rowling, few will be unaware now.

Datun · 14/06/2020 10:40

@NotAssigned

I don't think this is government distraction. It has been signalled by Truss for some time. I suspect however that it was deliberately leaked a month early to surf the JKR wave.
I'm sure that's true. The coincidence is too stark.

As usual, the TRA reaction is what galvanises people to be in favour of women.

I mean, they have to go some in order for people to drag their eyes away from those who are really important under a patriarchy, but TRAs are so venomous and vitriolic their extreme misogyny smacks you between the eyes.

The government can justify a pro women stance at this precise point in time, more than any other.

JK Rowling put herself in the firing line and it's having a massive effect.

minniebinnie · 14/06/2020 10:41

I think the article may be a distraction. The government is rightly so facing lots of criticism re Covid. Keir has the potential to be popular & someone the population would vote for. He may have to make his stance clear now, which may lose lots of votes.

CaveMum · 14/06/2020 10:43

Re the list of MPS to write to, I would include:

Gavin Williamson (Secretary for Education)
Nick Gibb (Minister for Schools)
Robert Buckland (Justice Secretary)
Lucy Frazer (Minister for Prisons)

Their departments will be affected by this - school policies, women’s prisons, etc.

BolloxtoGender · 14/06/2020 10:45

Actually Bravo to Boris I say. Controversial here I know.

Do what’s right with your majority, no need to argue and get into knots with the woke, let the woke revile themselves for what they are, shine sunlight on them. And just do the right thing as a democratically elected majority government.

BolloxtoGender · 14/06/2020 10:45

Fanny - that is a brilliant thread. Love it.
