Lots of people back pedalling slightly because there is nothing to be said other than that it is horrific. Outpouring of more virtue signalling.

OJ has slammed it but has disabled replies from those outside his echo chamber so people can't tell him what a bloody hypocrite he is.

Jameela Jamil really does live in a bubble.

Does she honestly think that men who rape and murder trans women are listening to left wing feminists?

twoHopes · 12/06/2020 10:25

They are worse

They are definitely worse in my eyes. JKR was clearly a close friend to these HP actors and worked with them for decades. She gave them everything and they stab her in the back for woke points. Even bottom of the barrel tabloid journalists would think twice before doing that.

Floisme · 12/06/2020 10:27

I started off in a rage but now I can't stop laughing at the sight of woke Twitter - wriggling and squirming because they might have been caught out on the same side of an argument as the Sun.

SunsetBeetch · 12/06/2020 10:37

Seems like the right time to post these again.

At heart, I think Jameela really, really doesn't like other women. Before she was all woke she made some revolting comments about other women (such as Catherine Zeta Jones and Miley Cyrus).

This is just more of the same, with a woke veneer over it. Feminist my arse!

CaraDune · 12/06/2020 10:41

A friend of mine has sent me the text of the article that goes with it.

The front page is beyond ghastly, and I hope JK Rowling has good people around her to support her.

But the actual article is very supportive of her, very clear that her first husband was a nasty abusive shit, and has eyewitness accounts backing up the fact that it wasn't a one-off thing (which still would have been utterly unacceptable) but ongoing and repeated.

I see this as a bit like using the screenshot of the abuse she's been getting on twitter as a click-bait lead into then getting a chance to show how utterly vile the hatred she's getting is.

And by god it's shining the brightest of bright lights on the hypocrisy of the fucknugget virtue-signallers on Twitter who're all blithely retweeting "transwomen are women" because someone, somewhere told them JKR was transphobic without having actually taken the time to read what she actually wrote.

And top of my list of fucknugget virtue-signallers are Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Eddie Redmayne, all of whom have literally made millions off the back of her talent and are now throwing her to the wolves.

Datun · 12/06/2020 10:41

So Paris Lees is telling Jameela to stop as it's making them look bad.

Yeah, actual bigotry towards domestic abuse survivors will do that.

And I've just noticed that the Times article says much of the abuse towards JK is coming from people with anime characters as their avatars.

Thats an interesting turn of events. It's not a well known connection, and the implications are about sexual motivation.

CaraDune · 12/06/2020 10:46

Why am I suddenly thinking of the rules of misogyny, Datun?

"The worst thing about male violence against women is it makes men look bad."

SunsetBeetch · 12/06/2020 10:47

Oh dear, clash of the titans.

Sun headline and responses to it
Collidascope · 12/06/2020 10:48

I hadn't realised Grint had spoken out too.

‘I firmly stand with the trans community and echo the sentiments expressed by many of my peers.

‘Trans women are women. Trans men are men.

‘We should all be entitled to live with love and without judgment.’

It's the inanity of it. We should all be entitled to live without judgement? What does that mean?
Again, no condemnation of the "judgement" that has been going on around JKR by people too dim to even read what she said.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 12/06/2020 10:49

I can hear the teeth clench from here.

OliveKitteridgeAgain · 12/06/2020 10:53

Yes, CaraDune exactly as I posted above. Which is why, please please think about whether complaining is throwing the baby out with the bathwater. If the Sun is held to have breached guidelines, then it will be easy for OJ and the rest to dismiss the entire side of this matter, which is the place JKR is coming from in her stance in the trans debate. I think the headline and the piece together just shows what a shit bag men like this are, who dismiss their violent conduct as mere nothings and blame the women for asking for it. There is a direct parallel with the threats and violence meted out on twitter every day to all women just for having an opinion that is not 100% pro or centring men and their needs. These men and their supporters don't think they have done anything wrong, and, as Jameel is proving, think the women have asked for it.

Datun · 12/06/2020 11:00

I firmly stand with the trans community and echo the sentiments expressed by many of my peers.

Oh dear. I don't think this is going to age well for him, Radcliffe and Watson.

They haven't kept up with the issue. And don't realise the misogyny, sexism, sexual motivation and violence involved.

I agree. They aren't even paying her the courtesy of reading oraddressing what she read.

Meanwhile George Takei is doing his bit to show that yes, people are saying that sex does not exist.

mobile.twitter.com/GeorgeTakei/status/1270786369166680064

Buck Angel is in the replies pointing out that he would not be a transsexual man if sex did not exist. Its not clear whether George Takei has noticed.

merrymouse · 12/06/2020 11:17

They haven't kept up with the issue.

I think that is forgivable.

It's not forgivable to respond like this without even reading or acknowledging what JKR has actually said.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 12/06/2020 11:19

Oh plopsie

I was rather hoping grint was keeping his head down...but nope

RedToothBrush · 12/06/2020 11:19

And I've just noticed that the Times article says much of the abuse towards JK is coming from people with anime characters as their avatars.

This.

The influence of anime, the sexualisation and stereotypes it promotes and the underlying rampant sexist culture its part of is huge.

Don't get me wrong. I love Japanese cartoons more than Disney. I find it much more interesting and watchable. But bloody hell I wish it didn't have the same undertones.

LouHotel · 12/06/2020 11:19

You just know Paris will be on every news show next week as the acceptable face of a trans women - karen white less likely.

merrymouse · 12/06/2020 11:20

Well, OK, it is forgivable - lots of people post things without thinking. I do think it makes them sound vacuous and stupid.

ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings · 12/06/2020 11:20

Ffs Jameel. If your "feminism" not only includes, but actively centres, the demands of men to female language, spaces, bodies, time, and resources, maybe consider that's its not actually feminism. 2 words. Rhymes with Nale Fupremicism. Getting it yet? The absolute nerve of her to say that women who are only asking to keep their existing legal rights are somehow responsible for male violence against transpeople, is just staggering. As a pp elegantly put it: so dense that light bends around her.

CaraDune · 12/06/2020 11:25

This thread has got me checking out Buck Angel's twitter feed. One finds allies in the strangest of places!

(Even though I'm sure I would disgree with Buck on just about everything to do with the "sex industry", we're in agreement about biology. Buck also sounds like the sort of person who's prepared to listen and discuss, with whom you could actually have a constructive conversation even if you didn't agree on everything).

SunsetBeetch · 12/06/2020 11:28

Buck once spoke up about suffering from vaginal atrophy and was absolutely monstered by TRAs for 'scare-mongering'.

NotBadConsidering · 12/06/2020 11:30

Imagine this scenario Jameela:

A black male trans street sex worker is murdered by a punter in Brazil. The police catch him and do some investigation, looking for motive, because the usual violent reasons of drugs, money and simple male violence aren’t enough. They confiscate his phone and look at his browsing history and see he regularly reads Feminist Current, A Woman’s Place UK and - most shocking of all - Mumsnet. The police don’t seem at all surprised that a violent man in Brazil is reading British Feminist websites, because you know, they all do, and continue their investigation. They go to his place of residence and find not only the entire boxset of Harry Potter books, but also all of the films too, and the Casual Vacancy (book and BBC adaptation) and the Strike series. There’s an “adult human female” t shirt, and a saved Sky News clip of someone called Posie Parker casually taking apart some weird bug-eyed dude in a televised debate. The police conclude that rather than “rough sex gone wrong” which is how the murder of female prostitutes is usually dismissed, it’s clearly your standard case of the overseas-derived feminism oppression defence (ODFOD) and the man is let off. The injustice of the death of a South American trans male because of British feminists again reaches the news feed of a British actor living in LA who immediately targets those truly responsible, those whose rhetoric led to such a terrible death: British women.

Now imagine that Jameela, and remind yourself on a daily basis that it is a complete fucking fairytale you ignorant POS. Instead, why don’t you actually focus on the real cause of violence against trans people, violent men, and do some actual good for a change?
