LangCleg

I am a long time lurker but infrequent poster here but I needed to bring this to everyone's attention.
I have found out that Mumsnet HQ have banned the fabulous LangCleg simply for repeatedly pointing out the repeated times coercive control has been used by the moderators to stop women talking.
I understand it started with a conversation when a post was deleted because she allegedly used a sweeping generalisation but they couldn't or wouldn't confirm the generalisation and when she challenged them they decided to ban her on the basis of previous comments.

So it now seems pointing out coercive control is now grounds for being banned, thus proving that coercive control is being used.

I for one would like @MumsnetHQ to provide an explanation here as this is really not on

(also taking bets on how long before the thread is deleted)

This is disappointing. A permanent ban for a poster who seemed okay to me just because she irritated the mods seems harsh and also makes it feel a bit unstable around here.

I appreciate that mumsnet can ban anyone, even if they just feel like it, but its a bit like walking on eggshells round here, not being able to guess what is and isn't allowed, or what will or won't piss of an individual moderator.

heathspeedwell · 22/01/2020 08:59

I don't post on here often, but I read on here for an hour or two every day and, most importantly perhaps, I respond to adverts.

There must be hundreds of people like me who come to read what brilliant women like Lang have to say. She drives traffic to the site.

calllaaalllaaammma · 22/01/2020 09:00

Loumumsnet
Have you any idea why people come here?
It’s because it’s given a character by regular posters that you recognise.
Lang Cleg was one of them. Are you just going to ignore us all and our requests to reinstate her?

happydappy2 · 22/01/2020 09:00

@MNHQ as many have already asked, please can you explain to us Why Lang was banned? The rules seem to change so quickly we can’t keep up. Should women really be silenced for pointing out clear safeguarding concerns or coercive control?

ButterisbestLangClegisbetter · 22/01/2020 09:00

Empress
Typo 🤣

Is Jossy making threats?

No, Joss is best known on Twitter for spinning false narratives about the Hyde Park attack. N.b Joss wasn't actually there and doesn't know anyone involved.

Lordfrontpaw · 22/01/2020 09:08

It that actually a real person?

TobyandLottiesmum · 22/01/2020 09:08

What? I'm a great admirer of Langs. Intelligent, thoughtful and shrewd

Ereshkigal · 22/01/2020 09:11

but its a bit like walking on eggshells round here, not being able to guess what is and isn't allowed, or what will or won't piss of an individual moderator.

As various posters, including Lang, have tried to point out.

LiterallyProblematic · 22/01/2020 09:12

This is a disgrace.
Lang is brilliant.

Cwenthryth · 22/01/2020 09:12

Why drag me into it???"

As someone pointed out on Twitter, Joss dragged Joss-self into it, Joss could have chosen not to post goady tweets about Lang.

Ereshkigal · 22/01/2020 09:12

Empress Grin

LoveCompost · 22/01/2020 09:13

2 years ago MN appeared to be captured. They rowed back a little but now it seems as if I was right .

Ereshkigal · 22/01/2020 09:13

Why drag me into it???"

All the eye rolls.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 22/01/2020 09:15

(Flings self into pool when nobody else is anywhere near them)

"Why oh why do these evil witches keep pushing me in the pool?"

Sad
DickKerrLadies · 22/01/2020 09:18

The whole idea that someone would be contacting a moderator from the outside to let them know who needs monitoring seems weird. It's implying that MNHQ aren't able to determine this for themselves.

I wonder why Joss would think that a team of predominantly women would need someone like Joss to let them know about wrongthink.

I just can't put my finger on it...

dragonlangx · 22/01/2020 09:18

I am finding it very hard to believe that Mumsnet HQ don't know why LangCleg was banned despite someone sending her an email detailing why they were rescinding her membership. Either Mumsnet HQ don't know what their own moderators are up to - which is deeply concerning
, or they are trying to gaslight us - one of the very things Langcleg would have raised concerns about

Which is it @MNHQ

hazeyjane · 22/01/2020 09:22

...address the rumours that previously banned posters are getting long time valuable posters banned

Yes. This needs to be answered.

Do you remember when a random TRA pmd a load of us to tell us we were Nazis, should die in a fire etc? Is this the sort of person reporting?

Joisanofthedales · 22/01/2020 09:23

Mumsnet kowtowing to Joss Prior at al. Disgusting!

DickKerrLadies · 22/01/2020 09:25

Under the radar, in the background, out of where people can question things - it's the TRA way, all the way back to Whittle and Burns.

Until those bloody women came and tried to ruin it all for them. Well, you'll show us, eh?

Michelleoftheresistance · 22/01/2020 09:25

This thread is now on site stuff: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/3802091-mods-discussing-moderation-with-previously-banned-poster-about-getting-current-posters-banned

Michael has made a reply to the initial question. I have asked several more, since the allegations being made on Twitter seem to me to be quite serious ones in terms of transparency with a membership on how information is used. I hope I'm misunderstanding the situation, I really do.

Cwenthryth · 22/01/2020 09:26

If I was banned from MN, I wouldn’t even know how to begin to contact an MN moderator to discuss posters on here. How have Joss and Hebe been chatting exactly?

EmpressLesbianInChair · 22/01/2020 09:26

Hyde Park was the scene of the crime where a TRA assaulted an older woman, right?

Right, T Wolf beat Maria Mac up. In a sense it was where the movement started.

I suppose if you view Prior as Wolf and LangCleg as Maria and this as a potential new defining moment, there's a possible parallel.
