I am a long time lurker but infrequent poster here but I needed to bring this to everyone's attention.
I have found out that Mumsnet HQ have banned the fabulous LangCleg simply for repeatedly pointing out the repeated times coercive control has been used by the moderators to stop women talking.
I understand it started with a conversation when a post was deleted because she allegedly used a sweeping generalisation but they couldn't or wouldn't confirm the generalisation and when she challenged them they decided to ban her on the basis of previous comments.

So it now seems pointing out coercive control is now grounds for being banned, thus proving that coercive control is being used.

I for one would like @MumsnetHQ to provide an explanation here as this is really not on

(also taking bets on how long before the thread is deleted)

Interviewing a detransitioner today, practically squirming in her seat, still trying to prop up the narrative whilst obviously thinking oh shit, oh shit I might have been wrong about this.

And that's gone round social media like wildfire. Everyone seeing it.

MrsSnippyPants · 21/01/2020 22:32

How about boycotting the website, deleting accounts and moving to another platform?

I'm not going to boycott Mumsnet, but nice try,

However I have switched my adblocker back on. No more clicks from me advertisers, not until Mumsnet reinstate LangClegas a minimum.

Boireannachlaidir · 21/01/2020 22:34

Another one who has 'listened & learned', as a PP rightly observed this has been happening way more than they realise. Banning the intelligent and articulate Lang is only going to strengthen our resolve.

Thank you Langcleg for your excellent posts. You've clearly got to them. You know. We know. And of course we're having conversations in the real world.

Poor show @mnhq Is it all about the money?Hmm

I'll start posting on spinster again and I'll stick around here too. We don't frighten off that easily.

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 21/01/2020 22:35

Bloody hell Hiroo did you mean to be so pompous? I just sprained my eyeballs at all that total bollocks you wrote.

Anyhoo. I really don't think we should all up and leave as we are just giving the people who want to silence us, what they want, without them having to lift another finger. It's a win for them, not for us.

I have seen MNHQ, in the past, admit they have got stuff wrong and backtrack. I'm hoping this will be one of those times and I would respect them for holding their hands and admitting it after the fact, at least.

I myself have been warned on MN and have no doubt I have been on the Naughty List quite a few times, if I did eventually get banned i would actually own my past bad behaviour as I can be very bad tempered and resort to personal insults Grin but I have never seen Lang be like that, she is so much more eloquent and reasonable and articulate etc etc, how on earth can they justify this?

It absolutely is men silencing us (that's how I got terfed Wink out of Twitter Angry) and it's infuriating.

janeskettle · 21/01/2020 22:39

lol, when you can't remember what you said in your deleted post.

I think it was something about abusive men, but I can't be sure.

Doyoumind · 21/01/2020 22:39

This is either true or a lie but either way it makes MNHQ look like bloody idiots. Is that what you want MNHQ?

WeHaveSnowdrops · 21/01/2020 22:41

In discussion with moderators? Get a grip HQ the menz are taking the piss.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 21/01/2020 22:42

Ah, so the mods decided that becoming OfJoss would be an excellent business plan.

Can't say I see it working out too well.

janeskettle · 21/01/2020 22:43

So, a male person is in discussions with moderators, in order to effectively silence women's voices ?

(mods, note that I refrained from using m*n and referred only to biological sex, which we all know is immutable, and also refrained from describing the type of behaviour the male person is showing, in accordance with your 'guidelines')

HeyBells · 21/01/2020 22:43

Another rare poster adding my voice. Dismayed to read about LangCleg and I agree the site will be very much poorer without her voice.

I'm also in favour of WBH 🍌🥣

iamSpartacusLangCleg · 21/01/2020 22:46

Absolutely gutted that prominent TRA's can get a safeguarding expert banned from a feminist site.
We are being laughed at MNHQ

TinseLANGel · 21/01/2020 22:46

Given JP (OfLang) is a multiple times PBP, surely that's not true?

Barracker · 21/01/2020 22:46

Hebe is a moderator I respect and admire. She has always seemed fair.
I simply don't believe she would have played a part in punishing an articulate and compassionate woman because a repellent man told her too.

There are several decent mods trying to tread the line between what is actually right, and what the rules are expected to enforce.

SayNotoArtificialLipids · 21/01/2020 22:48

I mainly lurk on here but just wanted to add my voice. I can't believe Lang has been banned.....scary times.

Note to HQ I meant biological menz. Science and DNA cannot be changed.

Doyoumind · 21/01/2020 22:48

I wouldn't put it past JP to shit stir but whether or not it's true it's not a good look for MNHQ.

GurlwiththeCurl · 21/01/2020 22:48

I have just read all of this thread with growing anger. I rarely post but read Mumsnet on and off all day, as I am bedridden. LangCleg’s loss is appalling and, ultimately, a very ill-advised action by Mumsnet.

334bu · 21/01/2020 22:48

Really shocked by this decision. I have only posted a couple of times but I have been reading this board for a while now and have much appreciated LangCleg's expertise and informative posts. Allowing malicious complainers to cause the removal of one of the most expert of the posters on the FWR board is appalling and should be reconsidered.

GirlDownUnder · 21/01/2020 22:48

This was shit news to wake up to - I actually thought it was a piss take I was that shocked.

Lang thank you so much for your time, your patience, and your unseen support.
Your posts have helped me to analyse information in a different way, and no matter your banning, I can't now un-see so you still remain.

They can remove you, they can't remove your legacy or all the new posters to FWR.

@LangCleg
@ you one last time because you can't tell me off Grin

NoSquirrels · 21/01/2020 22:48

I agree with Barracker - Hebe has always seemed a great mod. I think we should beware of taking anything said on Twitter as truth.

DanaPhoenix · 21/01/2020 22:49

Solidarity with Lang, an articulate, forthright and empowering poster.
I can't believe that MNHQ are so foolish to fall for such blatant manipulation.

I have hope to see so many new (ex lurkers) posting. Welcome 💐 I look forward to see much more input and comments from you all, because that's right we are not going anywhere.

Say what you see.
I see yet another pathetic internet incel with an anime furry avatar celebrating the silencing of a woman dedicated to the safe guarding and protection of women and children. As a previous poster said it's really bad optics. Really, really bad. Because every single person knows what type of people have a vested interest in dismantling safeguards.
Are you paying attention back there? Let me shout it out PAEDOPHILES AND PREDATORS.

I will miss Lang's wit and wisdom. I've already had breakfast before I found out this news I will have the WBH tomorrow and I will enjoy it because I'm one of those dreadfully subversive that actually like it.
Tonight I will raise a glass to Lang 🍷 Salut. Thanks for being you.

ALittleBitofVitriol · 21/01/2020 22:49

laughs bitterly

Another one down. This place is a shadow of its former self.

Maybe, @MNHQ, it would just be easier to post a list of acceptable things to say. 10 or so should suffice. 4 of those would have to be about prams and makeup, leaving the majority for fawning over politicians, blokes and those who must not be insinuated as blokes. You'd have to get approval from your overlords, of course. We'll just wait here, silent and demure.

coquettish courtesy

littlbrowndog · 21/01/2020 22:50

Prior was booted off here.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 21/01/2020 22:50

Mods, how do we know who you're discussing getting rid of with Joss next?

Oh, I'm sure Joss has a whole list. Apparently the mods are keen to assist.

If they are not in fact keen to assist and Joss is telling porkies then now would be the time to say so, MNHQ.
