I am a long time lurker but infrequent poster here but I needed to bring this to everyone's attention.
I have found out that Mumsnet HQ have banned the fabulous LangCleg simply for repeatedly pointing out the repeated times coercive control has been used by the moderators to stop women talking.
I understand it started with a conversation when a post was deleted because she allegedly used a sweeping generalisation but they couldn't or wouldn't confirm the generalisation and when she challenged them they decided to ban her on the basis of previous comments.

So it now seems pointing out coercive control is now grounds for being banned, thus proving that coercive control is being used.

I for one would like @MumsnetHQ to provide an explanation here as this is really not on

(also taking bets on how long before the thread is deleted)

Would someone mind screenshot ting the tweet? Twitter doesn't work for me, constantly wants me to log in but I can't

Disgrace · 21/01/2020 19:48

BUT that is my adblocker getting switched back on. Not another click from me MNHQ until Lang is reinstated, at the very least.

I second that emotion

ThighThighofthigh · 21/01/2020 19:48

I love LangCleg!

Lung I love you and I'm coming for your organs.

Lordfrontpaw · 21/01/2020 19:48

So complaints from non members are allowed? That’s odd isn’t it?

FleetsumNLangCleg · 21/01/2020 19:49

Can't even.

The trouble with LangCleg is she knows too much, and knows how to articulate it.

Damn I will miss her here

WireBrushAndDettolMaam · 21/01/2020 19:49

Hopefully LangCleg will use this time to reflect on where the line was crossed and perhaps one day will return, reformed

😂😂😂

Off to re-education camp for you lang!

HandsOffMyLangCleg · 21/01/2020 19:49

Nice try Hiroo, but that reeducation talk won't wash here.

You are being Goady.

Feminazgul · 21/01/2020 19:49

Yeah, like fuck are we going to sit down and shut up hiroo no matter how patronisingly you tell us to.

Mylittlepony374 · 21/01/2020 19:50

Another mostly lurker who is worried by this. I always learned from LangCleg. I'll be watching this closely.

Datun · 21/01/2020 19:50

AndwhenyougetthereFoffsomemore

I wouldn't blame you, at all. It's frustrating and demoralising.

But when someone recommends you leave a site that is having an extraordinary influence (despite what it feels like today), you might want to ask yourself why.

The tide is turning. That's why the pressure has been ratcheted up.

There are a zillion things happening behind the scenes, percolating or going forward.

This site disseminates it. All of it.

HQ feel under siege, because their advertisers and some other members haven't yet woken up. But it's happening. They will.

But, as I've said before, the sun still shines, the dog needs walking, the kids won't feed themselves, and there's always something excellent on the telly.

If you need to take a break, it's just there waiting for you.

PracticallyFamous · 21/01/2020 19:50

Hiroo the Aunts called, the Commander at your new posting wants you.

FFSFFSFFS · 21/01/2020 19:51

@HirooOnoda

Hopefully LangCleg will use this time to reflect on where the line was crossed and perhaps one day will return, reformed, to continue the passionate debate but within the terms of service that we all need to abide by

Something tells me that reeducation camp won't work to well on LangCleg.

Creepster · 21/01/2020 19:52

The misogynists are gloating on twitter over their success in getting MN to ban yet another Feminist.

PronounssheRa · 21/01/2020 19:53

Hiroos phrasing is awfully familiar. Talking of time to reflect and valuable lessons.

You fool no one.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 21/01/2020 19:53

I'm not leaving this site. Will still be here to continue asking questions and holding a presence for others who have been silenced, although I lack the eloquence, experience and expert knowledge that so many have brought.

Justhadathought · 21/01/2020 19:54

People get banned from forums all of the time...but many come back in different guises.......sad and bit pathetic to have to do that...but it happens.

We all instinctively know who the 'suspects' are - and sometimes it is very difficult not to engage - but I think we're just going to have to get better at ignoring. Some nasty and determined people out there.

Also, it is really important for people to align themselves with their local groups/Resister groups etc - so in the event of this site going down permanently, we will still be in contact with the movement.

CharlieParley · 21/01/2020 19:55

This is a loss. And although I am disappointed, I'm not surprised. Nothing ever changes. Courageous, informed and outspoken women are always targeted. I will miss Lang's comments cutting through the noise and bringing it back to what matters - that safeguarding is being undermined for nefarious reasons. And that's why voices like hers are being silenced.

Going by this thread though, it's not ultimately a winning strategy, is it? New voices joining in (welcome all of you delurking, re-registering and signing up for the first time Flowers), and longtime posters more determined than ever to stay and continue the good fight.

They think there's only a handful of us and a dog. If that was true, picking us off one-by-one would work. But for every woman posting there are many more who are here just to listen and learn - and like every other message board I've been on in the last 25 years, eventually the new members become longtimers, they step up and share what they have learned. As did I. I lurked on MN for ten years before I took my first tentative steps in 2017, I think.

Many voices have gone since then, and I still miss them. But every day there are new ones. I know from taking the fight offline that most women do not agree with transgender ideology and legislation. And many come here when they first realise they don't agree.

So until this board disappears, we need to be here to share what we know.

pombear · 21/01/2020 19:55

Lang if you're taking a look at this thread from afar, a big wave to you! @MNHQ really?

Though, as many have said upthread, every time this happens, a couple of great byproducts occur:

 • some of the lurkers (aka readers-along, just not posting right now) step up, and some of them stay regular posters, which adds to the richness of viewpoints
 • people get even more pissed off at the obvious targeting and manipulation from those who want to stop the conversation
= even more conversations happen off-line.

Today 19:27 RedHoodGirl
Boycott Mumsnet and move to Spinster - it’s the only answer!

I've noticed your faux-naivety in the past on a regular basis. How surprising that you would encourage posters to leave Mumsnet, given your obvious bias?

Must be a bit annoying to see that lots of posters aren't very easily manipulated. As frustrating as it is to post here, many of us know the value in doing so. As do you!

picklemepopcorn · 21/01/2020 19:55

@Butterisbest I've sent you a pm. Sorry!

PurpleCrowbarWhereIsLangCleg · 21/01/2020 19:55

Likewise Scrimshaw.

Tide is definitely turning. Disappointed in MNHQ, but still here for the conversation.

Justhadathought · 21/01/2020 19:55

The misogynists are gloating on twitter over their success in getting MN to ban yet another Feminist

Yes, it is pretty ugly........

birdsdestiny · 21/01/2020 19:56

When it all comes to a head, and that is happening now, hence their fury, where do you want to be MNHQ. Because some people will be able to say I spoke out, I saw what was happening to children, and I spoke out, wouldn't it be good if we were able to say that the leading website for parents was part of that safeguarding . It's time to be brave, and in the meantime men are laughing at you.

pombear · 21/01/2020 19:57

Hopefully LangCleg will use this time to reflect on where the line was crossed and perhaps one day will return, reformed, Are you related to our favourite Dr in any way? Your turn of phrase is awfully familiar!

ButterisbestLangClegisbetter · 21/01/2020 19:57

Hiroos phrasing is awfully familiar
I thought that too, it really rings a bell.
Think I'll ignore the advice though.

Feminazgul · 21/01/2020 19:58

Maybe lang should say he identifies as male. He'd have the red carpet rolled out in no time...
