Tying herself in knots. Great interviewer.

Oh I think the fact she doesn’t understand sex will be enough for people to question her sense.

bellinisurge · 09/12/2019 09:09

"I'm not an expert" 😂😂😂😂

Sexnotgender · 09/12/2019 09:13

They keep saying most vulnerable in society. It’s such nonsense and it needs to be highlighted.
Children in refuges with their mum after escaping domestic abuse
The disabled
Refugees
Children generally

Why are these males more vulnerable than the above? Please somebody explain it to me.

catspyjamas123 · 09/12/2019 09:17

It’s not politically correct to say this but babies are born with either boy bits or girl bits. Biological sex exists. Didn’t she learn this on the maternity ward? Chromosomes can’t be changed. Ever.

catspyjamas123 · 09/12/2019 09:18

Oh yes, and the media are apparently lying about the rapists self-identifying as female to get into women’s prisons. Although Justin came right back with real figures and real cases. Love Justin! She’s been brainwashed by the thought police.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 09/12/2019 09:26

To be fair, a lot of Lib Dems are clueless about this: I would have been but for MN. I had a truly enraging phonecall from the LDs last week asking me to canvas and I said I disagreed with self ID and the best the bloke could do was say, There will always be loopholes'.

I mentioned this enraging comment to a friend who is a very active Lib Dem - she's the agent for our local candidate - and she didn't know a damn thing about it. I'll be emailing her later to ask how one can best make one's displeasure known to the higher echelons of the party.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 09/12/2019 09:30

Why are these males more vulnerable than the above? Please somebody explain it to me.

Well they're predominantly upper and upper middle class, well educated males backed by billionaires who have a lower statistical chance of being murdered than other males so they're totes the most hardest done to people on earth.......nah, it's just a plain old lie. They aren't particularly vulnerable at all. Unlike the teenage girls they hide behind. Funny how Jo Swinson never mentions the teenage girls caught up in this most appalling of social contagions.

LangCleg · 09/12/2019 09:35

The thing that most gets to me is the virulent homophobia of it all. This but lesbians are thumping their partners all over the place! don't let these hordes of dangerous lesbians into women's shelters! business is so homophobic it beggars belief.

Women, overwhelmingly, need DV refuges because of male violence. How many women currently in refuge in this country are there because of an abusive same sex partner? One? Two? Of all the thousands currently in refuge?

Jo Swinson - so desperate to centre the XY chromosome, she's the biggest homophobe currently in public life.

Staggering.

NellieEllie · 09/12/2019 09:37

We also need a breakdown of what trans is now put in the public arena.

Talking to a woman the other day, it is clear that most people still think this applies to people with extreme gender dysphoria who have surgery. Not as Stonewall tells us anyone who feels like a woman, regardless of appearance, - those with no dysphoria, those who feel no dysphoria to genitals. Cross dressers, those who are gender non conforming and have been mistaken as the opposite sex, those who are gender fluid so may be women on Tuesdays and Thursdays.....

Also that self Id does not mean someone who THINKS they are a woman/man, but someone who SAYS they think they are a woman/man. It’s a vital distinction, and I think it is problematic for trans people too.

zanahoria · 09/12/2019 09:41

" Anyone else think Justin saying "if you were in the studio right now I could do you great harm with my male body" was a bit sinister!? Good point but better ways of making it I think"

Maybe better better ways, but I think he has to be blunt, what else can you do with a fool who is denying the basics of human biolofy

BovaryX · 09/12/2019 09:43

It’s incredible, isn’t it? The tactic used is bait and switch in an attempt to distract the interviewer from the obvious threat to safety posed by allowing men access to sex segregated spaces. This ideology can’t sustain critical examination and it’s quite revelatory that its proponents rapidly revert to misogynistic and homophobic tropes so quickly....,

TowelNumber42 · 09/12/2019 09:46

I don't think people get the whole thing of even now, a man can be legally a woman if he so chooses without a single alteration to his body. People imagine castrated effeminate tiny men.

ItsChristmaaaaaaaaas · 09/12/2019 09:47

@zanahoria - but really it illustrates it perfectly.

bellinisurge · 09/12/2019 09:50

I agree Justin had to be blunt. Ffs be if the reasons we are in this mess is because people have pretended "gender" and "sex" are interchangeable terms.

zanahoria · 09/12/2019 09:51

He should double down, ask if she has ever felt threatened by a male and then ask her is she would have felt mord at ease if that male said "don't worry I am a transwoman"

LangCleg · 09/12/2019 09:51

Isn't it just?

I look at that woman now and just think "raging homophobe".

bellinisurge · 09/12/2019 09:52

The "ffs" isn't aimed at anyone on here but at the situation we are all in.

SapphosRock · 09/12/2019 09:55

Wow! Great to see her being challenged so calmly and rationally. Great it got so much air time.

BovaryX · 09/12/2019 09:55

bellini,
Displacing biological sex with gender was a key aim of the GRA. TimeLady posted a fascinating link on this and I have written a post about it. The whole thing is quite incredible

BovaryX · 09/12/2019 09:57

Lang, I really hope that this is Jo Swinson’s swansong at the election. Ludicrous politico

Justhadathought · 09/12/2019 09:58

He was making the point that when they are on opposite ends of a telephone line her superiorities could be effective. But that changes when they are in the same room

And still the case even if he was not being wilfully intimidating. Just being in a confined space with a male bodied stranger sets off instinctive 'alert' messages. In most everyday situations we have learned how to compensate for this - but to purposefully remove sex segregated spaces, services and sports is an unnecessary folly - and totally unfair.

Thingybob · 09/12/2019 09:58

The constant use of the word 'vulnerable' when talking about TW seems to be another attempt to confuse and conflate.

'Vulnerable Adults' are already a defined group with specific protections in law and public bodies are required to have policies and procedures in place to accommodate this group.
Many trans people appear to believe that they are included in the definition of 'vulnerable adult' by virtue of being trans but this is certainly not the case.

Justhadathought · 09/12/2019 10:00

Oh I think the fact she doesn’t understand sex will be enough for people to question her sense

I'm sure I heard her say she had two sons......how does she know?

ItsChristmaaaaaaaaas · 09/12/2019 10:02

🤣
