Tying herself in knots. Great interviewer.

Justin saying "if you were in the studio right now I could do you great harm with my male body" was a bit sinister!? Good point but better ways of making it I think.

I think it's necessary to be honest and clear about why VAWG occurs. The idea of a man in a women's refuge is sinister.

TowelNumber42 · 09/12/2019 07:39

Yes, it was slightly chilling when Justin said if he were in the studio he could hurt her with his male body no matter how she felt or thought. That was the point. Beautifully made.

If a man even mentions the possibility of becoming violent we recoil because that means he's thinking about doing it and that is usually a warning for the woman to stfu. Danger danger. We are all highly attuned to it. Because biological sex is real and it matters.

Excellent interview Justin.

I'd like to hear a lot more about this.

Dolorabelle · 09/12/2019 07:39

And she immediately reverted to lesbians being abusive when asked about safe spaces.

Himophobe

BovaryX · 09/12/2019 07:39

She really bumbled through it

Bumbling is inevitable if your starting point is biological sex doesn’t exist.....

Dolorabelle · 09/12/2019 07:39

I mean homophobe

TowelNumber42 · 09/12/2019 07:41

If she were in the studio. FFS one day I will post something without typos.

nettie434 · 09/12/2019 07:42

Anyone else think Justin saying "if you were in the studio right now I could do you great harm with my male body" was a bit sinister!?

I thought that too 1000umbrellas but I think it was because Jo Swinson had said reports about transgender women being over represented in prisons etc were made up by the media. I think Justin Webb was just trying to make the point that the vast majority of men could appear physically threatening to women if they wanted so used himself as an example. The perils of live interviewing.

TowelNumber42 · 09/12/2019 07:44

I wonder what proportion of lesbians are murdered by their lesbian partner compared to women murdered by their male partners. I have a feeling there is quite a big difference.

It also misses the point. This isn't purely about sexual assault. If two women get into a heated argument about, I dunno, a parking space, then that's an entirely different dynamic and risk profile to if a man and a woman get into a heated argument.

MockersFactCheckMN · 09/12/2019 07:44

She's "No Expert," but now I'm living in terror of all these vicious lesbians roaming the streets. Is anyone safe?

GCAcademic · 09/12/2019 07:46

Himophobe

I mean homophobe

Lol. She's definitely not a himophobe. Jo is all about the him.

poshme · 09/12/2019 07:47

I don't think he was sinister- I thought it was a very effective point. She had just said that he was suggested trans people are the threat. He was pointing out that MEN are the threat.
She had said she didn't think sex was binary (becuase chromosome problems- how to confuse trans & intersex) and he was pointing out, using his maleness that sex is binary.
And not always in a good way for women.

Taswama · 09/12/2019 07:49

Just noticed autocorrect in my OP!
I was shouting at the radio and really wanted Justin to point out that male pattern violence exists.

OP posts:
BovaryX · 09/12/2019 07:51

I have a feeling there is quite a big difference

It’s another talking point which disintegrates if challenged. Jo Swinson has an imperious expectation that she will be allowed to trot out vacuous cliches while the media genuflects.

redcarbluecar · 09/12/2019 07:51

Did she clearly say she doesn’t believe in biological sex? I thought she fudged the answer a bit, saying something about chromosome abnormalities without really answering the Q, but I may not have been listening properly.

MockersFactCheckMN · 09/12/2019 07:53

Is "Jo Swindon" also autocorrect, or is she still stuck on the Magic (thinking) Roundabout?

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 09/12/2019 07:54

Justin missed the point that if any male person can say he's trans, a loophole a mile wide has been opened up for sexual predators. We know that people like that will do anything to get their hands on their victims, so....

And for God's sake, Justin, pick up the use of 'cis'. I am not prepared to be defined as a cis woman. I am a woman. That is the biological reality.

But on the whole, he nailed it.

Sexnotgender · 09/12/2019 07:54

I’m sure there are some lesbians who are violent to their partners. As there are some heterosexual women who are violent to their partners.

There’s not some great lesbian crime wave though. Over 98% of violent crimes are committed by males and there is no evidence that males declaring a trans identity alters their behaviour.

She’s a massive homophobe for even suggesting lesbians are a risk in the same way men are.

BovaryX · 09/12/2019 07:54

I hope this is Jo Swinson’s swansong at the polls....

Cwenthryth · 09/12/2019 07:55

She actually just said in one breath “there shouldn’t be a hierarchy of equalities because transwomen are the most vulnerable”

Eh?

We’ve started calling them the Illiberal Delusionals in this house now. Have voted for them in the past as well.

DodoPatrol · 09/12/2019 07:56

I think the Tories and Labour should be grilled on this too.
Labour brought in the GRA and trampled over the definition of women in their own ‘all women’ shortlists.
The Cons have been the ones in power while single sex exemptions have been ignored or condemned.
The libs haven’t caused the current situation.

XXcstatic · 09/12/2019 07:57

Anyone else think Justin saying "if you were in the studio right now I could do you great harm with my male body" was a bit sinister!?

Yes, but intentionally and benevolently so, because it made the point that even ostensibly nice, normal men are a threat to women because of their superior strength. It made it clear how idiotic JS' caveats about risk assessments are - abusive men (or TW) do not come with a convenient label.

BovaryX · 09/12/2019 07:58

She actually just said in one breath “there shouldn’t be a hierarchy of equalities because transwomen are the most vulnerable

Grin Complete contempt for the intelligence of her audience. The Newspeak isn’t working....

TimeLady · 09/12/2019 07:58

transwomen are the most vulnerable

Yep, I bet that Hannah Mouncey and Veronica Ivy are shit scared of little old me

MockersFactCheckMN · 09/12/2019 07:59

Complete contempt for the intelligence of her audience.

I think it's more a case of a complete absence of intelligence on her part. She's as shallow as grapheme, but without the useful applications.

ItsChristmaaaaaaaaas · 09/12/2019 08:02

I may have punched a dozing DH in the arm and whooped...
😂😂😂😂

Shame he didn’t mention the pharma company donations as the coup de grace...
