On Facebook for objecting to the term "chestfeeding".

For a page called Breastfeeding is the Biological Norm they have a curious aversion to biological reality. 🙄

That's totally fucking insane. Tell us more.

ErrolTheDragon · 04/09/2019 19:21

Sorry to hear that. It's so idiotic - men who get breast cancer get breast cancer, 'chest cancer' would be something different.

MN is saner, if you want support with BF or just to be able to talk about it sensibly.

ParadiseLaundry · 04/09/2019 19:21

I follow a lactation consultant who is dishearteningly pro terms like 'chestfeeding' and the idea that men can breastfeed. She gets challenged on it a lot though which makes me feel better. Hopefully for every 1 person who challenges someone on Facebook there must be hundreds more who would disagree with it but not say anything (like me).

Were there others on the group who agreed with you?

Troels · 04/09/2019 19:29

They sound batshit crazy. Your probably better off out of it.

barryfromclareisfit · 04/09/2019 19:33

The world has gone mad.
Except for you, OP.

Kiddofreddo80 · 04/09/2019 19:34

Madness. Revolting too.

MockersthefeMANist · 04/09/2019 19:36

Quite right too

You wouldn't want to join a group that would have someone like you as a member.

Chest feeding. Ffs🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Roozy123 · 04/09/2019 19:50

What? Shock Shock

Is this a 'thing' now? Someone please explain Confused

FairfaxAikman · 04/09/2019 19:54

I disagreed with the term and was berated for "transphobia". I refused to back down and was told it costs nothing to be a "decent human being" and I'm a bigot.
I was told it doesn't affect me and I was confusing sex and gender.
I said it was sexist bollocks that harmed all women.

Just before they blocked me they posted this

I've been kicked out of a breastfeeding group...

madness
do you need bf support IRL?

Mummyoflittledragon · 04/09/2019 20:10

😱
Are you ok? Do you need any support or advice?

FairfaxAikman · 04/09/2019 20:10

Nah. I'm an extended breastfeeder (16 months so far) but I joined it as it champions breastfeeding in many ways

OP posts:
Mummyoflittledragon · 04/09/2019 20:13

Idiots won’t get the benefit of your wisdom and insight then. Sad for other breastfeeding women.

Wurzelsnewhead · 04/09/2019 20:21

I feel for you OP, it can be hard enough establishing breastfeeding without this kind of nonsense. Hope you can find a new group that actually supports mums.
Coming across this would have really cheesed me off, if transmen can’t deal with their biology its not the remit if other women to deny their own. Females have breasts, the primary purpose of which is to lactate to feed their babies End of.

Wurzelsnewhead · 04/09/2019 20:22

Ah just read you’re at 16months 😀

newtlover · 04/09/2019 20:31

well done you, lucky baby
my suggestion would be, start your own group
I bet you're not the only one pissed off with this nonsense

CorBlimeyGovenor · 04/09/2019 20:35

A breastfeeding site should be there to support. ERM.... Breastfeeding. It should n't even get sidetracked by such idioticness. Chest feeding would be about as pointless as a woman in her sixties checking for the correct feeding position for her reborn doll!! Utterly pointless! In fact, you should set up a fake profile, ask for lots of help and support, whilst posting photos of your new reborn doll (whilst enquiring as to why she still isn't gaining weight!)

Doyoumind · 04/09/2019 20:42

I would be interested in finding out the actual stats for trans men who become pregnant and go on to breastfeed. We must be talking really tiny numbers.

TheVanguardSix · 04/09/2019 20:42

Seriously! Humankind’s so ‘woke’ we’re experiencing collective bends.
Chest feeding. 🙄 It’s times like this when I’m actually glad to be pushing 50 and out of the circus. Breastfeeding groups have traditionally been a little on the hardcore side, in my own experience. However it’s all gone into batshit mode. Why are women being swayed by our own undermining?
Good for you, OP! You took the hook right out of your mouth and you’re keeping it real.
16 months! Excellent stuff. 👏

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 04/09/2019 20:50

Sorry, but Why ever would you follow a lactation consultant who spouts crap like that?

Are they a registered health professional or just someone who sounds off on t'internet?

NeurotrashWarrior · 04/09/2019 21:00

I've noticed it slowly creeping up the country on various bf pages.

My groups are so far immune and half of the women on them are in GC groups.

Wff is the "confused biological sex and gender" in this context???

OhHolyJesus · 04/09/2019 21:05

FFS can't we have anything about women anymore.

So sorry OP, that message was aggressive and wrong, utter madness. You should start your own group and make your own rules. Good luck to them with their chest feeding club. Good that you're free of the pressures of compelled speech.

NeurotrashWarrior · 04/09/2019 21:28

Anyway, fist bump for your bfing! I'm 15 months now and still going! all night at the mo managed 3.5 with my eldest.
