Athletics: China field a women’s relay team featuring two men

This was as predictable as the day is long. China are well known for their, er, intense pursuit of national success at the Olympics. What better way than to field two blokes but insist they’re women!

I mean, look at them.

On Twitter there were numerous people suggesting that they were possibly women who have taken massive doses of testosterone. Personally, I don’t think testosterone could ever give a natal woman such masculine faces.

They’re men.

Correction - they competed as individuals in the national championships 400m (coming first and second - what a surprise) and also in a 4x400m relay team at another national event.

No, they're men. Much easier to get men into women's sports by doping with oestrogen as this is now allowed. You can't dope women with T any more. I do hope those who joined in the TRA chorus of 'There aren't many transwomen in sport and anyway none have ever won an Olympic medal, so...' will now stfu. This is clear evidence that it's not just the individual trans athletes invading and ruining women's sports, it's nations realising they can game it. It was always going to be led by the Chinese, but the other nations will go looking for such people if this ridiculous situation continues.

Popchyk · 31/08/2019 14:42

The USA is going to be very unhappy about this.

Because it means that their own men will lose out on winning women's medals.

And that would be so unfair.

anomoony · 31/08/2019 14:45

Well, I can see Tong's dong.

EmperorBallpitine · 31/08/2019 14:45

In always thought the main problem with transwomen in women's sport was the possibility of nations/clubs 'gaming the system' rather than individuals. We have only seen the tip of what potentially could be an enormous and growing iceberg.

Popchyk · 31/08/2019 14:53

Actually looks like 3 of them are biologically male.

Still, one spot went to a woman.

So they should be happy with that, right?

There are 8 spots on the 400m relay team and 2 events (women's and men's).

It is right and fair that women should only get 1 spot out of 8 places. With males taking 7 spaces. Next year women will have zero spaces. But that's fine because women don't need elite sport.

Where is Jo Maugham now? He'll find it inspiring, no doubt.

MIdgebabe · 31/08/2019 15:01

Well I always disliked the tendency for women althetes to wear skimpy clothes, but In hindsight it does help sex the competitors.

VickyEadieofThigh · 31/08/2019 15:01

I've had women say to me on Facebook "I don't care about sport and anyway, I'd rather transwomen felt validated".

I am not making that up. I had to mute the people concerned because it made me sick.

3timeslucky · 31/08/2019 15:11

It says everything you need to know that you look at the team and you can immediately tell which are the men and which are the women.

I am so sick of this shit.

Chewingbubblegum · 31/08/2019 15:14

This is so frightening it is almost like a horror comedy.

testing987654321 · 31/08/2019 15:15

Yes I was thinking it would be at least debatable, more like the masculine East Germans due to doping. But no doubt at all.

jellyfrizz · 31/08/2019 15:17

They are not breaking any rules as long as their testosterone is low enough.

Hopefully this will get people actually thinking a bit about the situation.

testing987654321 · 31/08/2019 15:20

2 more women excluded from sports.

I suppose in China they do have an excess of men due to other misogynistic policies.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 31/08/2019 15:25

Cheating lying bastards

boatyardblues · 31/08/2019 15:26

Are they tucking? Underwhelming prowess in the dangly department if not, but I agree that the close-fitting nature of women’s sportswear may prove to be useful in future in sorting the make up of teams.

DryHeave · 31/08/2019 15:30

So we’ll have: men and women men-with-slightly-lower-testosterone?

VickyEadieofThigh · 31/08/2019 15:34

testing987654321 · 31/08/2019 15:38

Quite quickly the men pretend to be women will be pissed off that all the women's spaces have been taken. Those third-rate men will be dangerously angry.

Gingerkittykat · 31/08/2019 15:40

Maybe when these new women hit the olympics and the mainstream the general public will realise how absurd the whole thing is and it will become a bigger issue.

I've seen TRAs post about how we should be celebrating the diversity of women's bodies and applauding the strength and prowess of these athletes.

Haworthia · 31/08/2019 15:55

Which is why the rules (a testosterone level of 6 or under IIRC) are bullshit, because a) a testosterone level of 6 is still about six times higher than a natal woman and b) it doesn’t account for myriad advantages of being male bodied.

I've had women say to me on Facebook "I don't care about sport and anyway, I'd rather transwomen felt validated".

This is going to be the most common argument to have men in women's sport.

They can't argue that it would never happen and they can't argue that the men have an advantage, so it will just be about validation.

It is the same for the removal of women only spaces. They can't say it will never happen and males won't attack women. It's all about validation. Which is the only thing it has every been about.

testing987654321 · 31/08/2019 15:59

Anyone who thinks more men in public life adds to diversity just because the men are dressed as women can fuck right off. It's always women being shoved out of the way.

VickyEadieofThigh · 31/08/2019 15:59

It's all about validation. Which is the only thing it has every been about.

Correct.

misscockerspaniel · 31/08/2019 16:04

I wonder how this will play out given that the IAAF said recently, in relation to Caster Semenya, that "biology trumps gender identity". As for women saying that it is more important that males feel validated...have we gone back to the 1950s?!

Sports is starting to look pretty doomed. The arms race is well under way in various countries.
