Athletics: China field a women’s relay team featuring two men

This was as predictable as the day is long. China are well known for their, er, intense pursuit of national success at the Olympics. What better way than to field two blokes but insist they’re women!

I mean, look at them.

On Twitter there were numerous people suggesting that they were possibly women who have taken massive doses of testosterone. Personally, I don’t think testosterone could ever give a natal woman such masculine faces.

They’re men.

Is it absolutely sure these are male?

VickyEadieofThigh · 31/08/2019 17:40

I care deeply about women's sport. Purpleartichoke put it succinctly:

women succeeding at sport helps every woman. Sport gives women a venue to fight for equal rights and equal pay that is very visible. Every female athlete who dazzles the crowds with her strength and dedication, means men who will take all of us more seriously. These men aren’t just taking away women’s sport. They are taking away everything that women’s sport can do for society.

I don't even think 'Well, at least if there are men in women's events at the Olympics it will peak-trans the world' any more. Because the extent of institutional/orgaisational capture that's happened here is astonishing.

testing987654321 · 31/08/2019 17:42

Yes. We are all bloody experts at being able to identify males and females. It really isn't hard.

endofthelinefinally · 31/08/2019 17:43

There are definitely 3 men in that picture. You can tell by the knees, pelvic bones, jaws as well as the obvious outline of genitalia.

ThePurported · 31/08/2019 17:46

but if you are a man and not even trying to look female then you surely are not trans.

They don't have to hide their maleness because you can compete as a woman without genital surgery according to the IOC rules. The bulge is a female penis as far as IOC is concerned, as long as they meet the regs on T levels. If you can turn up in a women's event with your bulge showing, why bother with the rest of it?

BarbaraStrozzi · 31/08/2019 17:46

Yes, endofthelinefinally - and the voice in the video clip.

SophoclesTheFox · 31/08/2019 17:48

Did you watch the video, toorah?

That might help you decide.

AlwaysComingHome · 31/08/2019 17:50

If China can field men we can field horses.

Biology is only a construct anyway.

endofthelinefinally · 31/08/2019 17:53

Just found and watched the video!!!Shock

Toorahtoorahaye · 31/08/2019 17:57

No, I’ll watch it. Just don’t want to leap without looking on this one. It plays right into supporters of TW in women’s sports hands.

GirlDownUnder · 31/08/2019 17:59

Maybe when the first brave and stunning who are currently making easy wins and getting medals start loosing to the new brave and stunning there’ll be a reckoning.

I think the first wave BS will start asking questions like what is a real transwoman, who’s more a real transwoman? I was here first and I’m the one true transwoman, in fact I’m so trans I’m cis.
Like they already do on twitter.

Won’t help actual women, but we’ll still have the sandwich making duties, so there is that.

JoinTheMicrodots · 31/08/2019 18:01

This is a joke, surely? Is this definitely genuine?

OldCrone · 31/08/2019 18:02

The Women's Tennis Association rules state that biological males are welcome to apply to them two years after a gonadectomy.

I can't see that in the current rules dated December 2018.

ThePurported · 31/08/2019 18:02

Trans stuff aside, questions have to be asked when three out of four women in a sports team look like men. Remember the 1980s and what steroids did to athletes.

Haworthia · 31/08/2019 18:04

Sounds plausible. I also anticipate cries of “These aren’t true transwomen, this is state sanctioned cheating!” (which... it most likely is) followed by cries of “But how do you tell the difference?”

China systematically lied about its gymnasts ages for years, creating fake documents etc, i won't trust anything they ever say in regards to sport.

MagneticSingularity · 31/08/2019 18:26

jay55 I think the trouble with that is it’s kinda what some ideologists are counting on in a backhanded kinda way “oh well, it’s China/Russia innit? They always cheat. Doesn’t mean our TW team members aren’t genuinely trans.”

Yes some countries will exploit this more than others and pad their female squads with as many males as they think they but I for one can’t just shrug and say that’s only to be expected from them, I feel women have to stand for zero tolerance: no XY people (men) competing in XX (women’s) events - none.

And oh yes GIrlDownUnder down the line we’re definitely going to have the realTW v fakeTW fingerpointing, which will be entertaining in a bitterly serves them right kind of way, but it really doesn’t help women in sport now.

Propertyfaux · 31/08/2019 18:36

Reading (via google translation) the tweets from China but also Japan the comments are not supportive and equally questioning the sex.

Popchyk · 31/08/2019 18:38

Wasn't aware that they'd changed the rules, OldCrone.

Rules changed in December 2018, so in 2020 the WTA will have lots of males claiming to be female, having lowered their testosterone for 1 year only. Hope they are ready for it. The potential prize money and sponsorship in women's tennis is huge - that will attract males who claim to be female, for sure.

I note that the WTA states that they have absolute discretion in determining fairness. So theoretically, they can still turn any male tennis players away. And of course, they will be sued for doing so.

Pota2 · 31/08/2019 18:54

I don’t think the one on the right is male because in the video she sounds and appears female. I think the other one in the video is clearly male. I haven’t heard the other alleged male speak so would not want to say for sure but the one speaking in the video is 100 % male.

MrGHardy · 31/08/2019 19:05

This pisses me off to no end. On another board there are hardcore TRAs who say ignorant stuff like "but I heard it is all ok with HRT" others thinking they are clever by demanding evidence (mind you there is plenty of evidence already, not least that the onus is actually on them tp show that a male on HRT has no advantage, not the other way round) all the way to "what is the issue with women competing in women's sports".

It is incredible how the entire sporting world is being gaslighted to such an extent. We need some very high profile professionals, both male and female, to speak out against this horror.

endofthelinefinally · 31/08/2019 19:09

The female in the video is the one on the left of the photo I think.

Pota2 · 31/08/2019 19:33

end I think it’s the one on the right because she doesn’t have a fringe. It might look slightly like a bulge in the picture but that can be as a result of the pubic bone or even pubic hair. In the video she sounds and appears female. The other one however, really really does not.

Pota2 · 31/08/2019 19:36

Sorry, the one with the fringe is at the start of the video, then the male, then the woman without a fringe.

littlbrowndog · 31/08/2019 20:34

They are just guys

And wta.
