Some more wildlife for you OP (not my own). Are you more of a dog person or a cat person or both? Smile

Hey lady!

I hope you are doing okay, good to see you around as of late.

Thinking of you tonight as I sit amongst the sounds of nature. Thinking about how lucky I am that right now I am choosing to be out here - and how it is luck. You are so strong, your survival instincts have served you thus far and will continue to do so until your focus shifts from day-to-day survival to quality of life.

Stay vigilant, stay strong, keep looking towards your new home - and most of all, stay safe.

And please do let us know if/when you get your blog going.

If you need something ask (big or small) - there are women here who genuinely care about you, and you never know who might be aware of a resource.

Be well.

A quick update.

I'll probably have to post fewer identifying details, but thought I'd check in.

Still camping. Still breathing. Still not fixed a damn thing. But groundhogs are cute, and I have deer around.

And unapologetic about refusing to go into shelters where males are welcome. Even if they don't currently have males in em. Liberal feminists are not my shield and I do not trust em.

I do have a bit of outside support now, which has helped very much.

LangCleg · 21/10/2019 17:32

Thanks for dropping by Detroit. I think of you often. Glad to see you have some outside support now. Flowers

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 21/10/2019 17:34

I do have a bit of outside support now, which has helped very much.

Very glad to hear that, Detroit. I've been thinking about you as the weather gets colder.

DetroitDownHereWithTheRestOfUs · 21/10/2019 17:39

Thanks Lang! Thank you for the support.

It's winter, unfortunately. Which means my options are few until spring.

Liberal feminists are grotesque. I'm convinced this is class war.

Blasting out down here with the rest of us by social distortion. The squirrels are unimpressed.

zebrasdontwearbras · 21/10/2019 17:39

Good to see you, Detroit.

LangCleg · 21/10/2019 17:46

I'm convinced this is class war.

So am I.

DetroitDownHereWithTheRestOfUs · 21/10/2019 17:52

You too, Zebra.

Not eating off stoneware plates, or drinking out of glass has started to get to me. I'm failing to get behind not coloring my hair. It's not possible, I can't sit with cold goop on my head, and wash it off in an outside shower, nor can I afford upkeep.

I'm better off in rural areas than heading to a city.

But I'm alive and free. I'll never ever have to see him again!!!! He will never get to physically hurt me again, though the emotional and psychological pain I don't think will ever end. Nor the pain of him being inside society and me thrown out of it. The patricarchy has no use for me, now I suppose.

Anything is better than being with him. Mr fucking Charming

redredrobins · 21/10/2019 17:59

Been thinking of you Detroit, take care love, stay strong.

DetroitDownHereWithTheRestOfUs · 21/10/2019 18:02

I don't suppose there are any women here who might be able to offer medical advice regarding my stupid leg? It now has what looks like an ulcer. Doesn't itch like a bite. Untreated multiple kicks and blows to the shin, very painful, bruising gone down, but swollen. Hurts with use, turns out as I walk. Hurts when rested at certain angles. Just plain aches all the time. Can weight bear to walk with a limp, but not on one leg, so getting dressed is painful etc.

I suspect I need a doctor, but that isn't possible. I've cleaned up the ulcer looking thing, band aid etc.

Is it possible it's more than painful, or can I safely tolerate the pain?

DetroitDownHereWithTheRestOfUs · 21/10/2019 18:03

Not just me and the class war fears, huh

I was hoping people would say don't be silly, Detroit...

StopThePlanet · 21/10/2019 18:26

Detroit

Hello wonderful, powerful, strong woman!!!

We are deep into rainy season here (technically peak hurricane season). Glad you have found new furry friends (of the non-human kind obvs). I talk to my dogs and the multitudes of lizards et al more than I talk to people. We have so many large lizards now whereas for the last few months they were all wee babies. While the well-fed mini-dinos roam around I am at once pleased with their impressive growth and saddened that they are grown.

So glad to hear you have some support now. Wish it was all you required but glad you have a RL support system.

Your feeling of freedom comes through your words - I rejoice in your feeling.

I think about you and really appreciate you checking in with us, please do as often as possible. Flowers

GeorgeFayne · 21/10/2019 18:38

Detroit, I'm really concerned about your leg. It could be a much deeper infection, into the bone (called osteomyelitis). Are you having any fevers or chills?

Regardless, I think you should be seen. I am in a network of other female physicians and might be able to point you into a direction for help? Feel free to PM me.

StopThePlanet · 21/10/2019 18:40

Is there a county clinic anywhere close enough you can get to?

I think seeing a doctor/nurse practitioner is necessary. I'm not an HCP but I am concerned about infection or bug/spider bites that aren't itchy but painful. I am also concerned about damage to your shin muscles, tendons, or bones...

I can't give you any advice except... please find a county/government medical service, town Dr., some HCP to look at that leg.

StopThePlanet · 21/10/2019 18:41

Detroit please PM GeorgeFayne

DetroitDownHereWithTheRestOfUs · 21/10/2019 18:49

If I can get anonymous care I will. I know the resources around here, but thank you for caring.

Yes, I've been feverish on and off, but figured I just caught a chill. And I've been fighting off what I do know was a spider bite to my arm, so put it down to that.

I'll be fine. If I can, I will. Promise.

GeorgeFayne · 21/10/2019 18:59

Sepsis (generalized infection spreading through the blood) can happen rapidly.
You need treatment. Your leg really worries me as a potential deep infection.

Really, I'm happy to help any way I can, but I also respect your privacy. Flowers

DetroitDownHereWithTheRestOfUs · 21/10/2019 19:08

I think I'd be feeling much sicker if it was sepsis. I cleaned the pus etc out of the ulcer thing, it was very sore. It's not got red streaks though and it's not spreading. Doesn't look like a spider bite, I've had a few of those recently. If the ER will see me anonymously I'll go in. I suspect I'll be turned away as it's not life threatening.

LangCleg · 21/10/2019 19:13

Detroit - please, please, PM GeorgeFayne.

GeorgeFayne · 21/10/2019 19:21

I agree you are likely not septic, but I am concerned that a bone infection could easily "seed" your bloodstream and progress to sepsis--if, indeed, that's what's going on.

Legally, you cannot be turned away from the ER, and honestly, they see a lot of things LESS worrisome than your leg. That said, there is a chance they might want to admit you for IV antibiotics if you have osteomyelitis, just to forewarn you.

I do suspect it will be difficult to stay anonymous. A "free" clinic may be less likely to require ID than the ER.

DetroitDownHereWithTheRestOfUs · 21/10/2019 19:39

I pmd George.

I'm so sorry to worry anyone. I'm fine really, just a nagging injury.

zebrasdontwearbras · 21/10/2019 19:56

Keep yourself safe and healthy, Detroit, and keep us updated Thanks

user764329056 · 21/10/2019 20:00

Just wanted to say hello Detroit, so good to hear from you but please have your leg looked at??

DetroitDownHereWithTheRestOfUs · 21/10/2019 20:15

Trying to get some realistic options to see a doctor.

The last thing I want is to worry anyone!

It's not spreading or streaking. Promise.
