I've been on Twitter again and seen another interesting thread but I'm not going to post it here so it can be picked apart.

Instead, although I know it's been asked before, to those of you who believe someone can be a woman without biologically being one I ask the question: What do you think should be put in place in law to provide safe spaces for trans people and women and what are you doing about it?

Men do have bigger brains than women, I wonder why trans men don't have bigger heads and trans women don't have smaller heads 🤷‍♀️

OldCrone · 01/08/2019 20:55

Studies show that trans people have the brain chemistry and makeup of the "opposite" of their gentials, so it actually aligns with their gender not their sex

Really? Can you post a link to some of these studies?

'Lady brains'. On a feminist forum. Do you really think we're going to swallow that?

OldCrone · 01/08/2019 20:56

Also, mewk, intersex is not the same as trans.

mewk · 01/08/2019 20:56

@NeurotrashWarrior actually I'm not! Could you give me a summary please? (my phone is on 12% sorry)

I personally am majoring (well, trying to) researching autism, so I always welcome more studies on things I'm not 100% on!

PetrolBastard · 01/08/2019 20:56

Why are you on this thread if you don't want to hear what people who don't agree with you have to say? This is the last place for you to be encouraging other people not to listen to the opinions of others. That's the purpose of the thread.

RosesAndRaindrops · 01/08/2019 20:58

I read that blog. This is the final paragraph and it really just is all about the stereotypes.I loathe shopping for clothes and don't wear make up. I can't knit, well unless you want a really long scarf with poor tension and I'd much rather be in the pub. I don't watch sport or read Cosmo.
So what am I?

OK. I've not read that blog.
My thoughts though - I'm a woman. (Biological). I never wear make up. I can't be arsed to shave my legs.
Into sci fi, space, can't be doing with so called girly stuff like spas, sleepovers, dolls when I was a kid etc
Still know I can like all those things and still be 100% woman though

mewk · 01/08/2019 20:59

@TheBigBallOfOil please if you can't be open enough to consider points that oppose to your own, at least be civil than childish

Most people still think "penis = man & vagina = woman" I'm merely here to educate people on why that isn't the case

You are in your every right to hold your opinions, but that's all they are,, opinions

RosesAndRaindrops · 01/08/2019 20:59

Top bit was meant to be bolded as was a comment from the thread

RosesAndRaindrops · 01/08/2019 21:02

@mewk
@TheBigBallOfOil please if you can't be open enough to consider points that oppose to your own, at least be civil than childish

That's just it, isn't it? Why the fall back to blah bullshitters?
If you don't want to listen or engage, fair enough - just why act like 5 year old when it comes to stuff you don't want to hear?
Do you.
Instead of crying bullshitters, or people posting pictures of essence bottles to mock

mewk · 01/08/2019 21:04

@RosesAndRaindrops

I don't know why some are like this, it's unfortunate because I adore having these sorts of conversations with those willing to be educated

RosesAndRaindrops · 01/08/2019 21:04

Guys - don’t give it houseroom. Please. Half the problems in this area have come about because for some reason we don’t feel able to tell bullshitters they’re bullshitters

"It?"

"Bullshitters?"

Who's that you're referring to then?
We're entitled to our opinions and experiences.
So the bat signal plea to ignore us, fair enough if people want to that's up to them but there's two sides to a discussion.
That's kind of the whole point of one.

OldCrone · 01/08/2019 21:05

PetrolBastard and Roses, I'm still waiting for you to explain how living as a man is different from living as a woman. I think there is no difference between living as a man and living as a woman. Are there activities or something that I might be able to do if I was a man which I can't do as a woman? I can't think of any. Are there any activities which I can do which a man can't? I can't think of anything apart from the obvious biological functions.

Doyoumind · 01/08/2019 21:05

mewk, you aren't here to educate us. We've all looked into this subject. You are here to give us your opinion.

Would you appreciate us using the word educate to tell you what we believe?

OP posts:
NeurotrashWarrior · 01/08/2019 21:07

What, outside of biological functions that not every woman experiences makes you feel like a woman?

Nothing. Take it all away and it's just personality. Much of my daily experiences every day of my life has impacted my personality and so my biology has impacted this - pre children I was actually a very different person.

My boobs were for performing femininity as I'd been taught and I was happy with them. Now I use one to keep baby asleep in the early hours and I'm proud of the technique I've established in order to do so and sleep mn at the same time. It's now much bigger than the other one but that's how much I value my sleep.

Now, using my biology in the way it's supposed to be I generally just feel
the essence of tiredness.

It's impossible to define what it feels like to be a woman as every woman's experience is different, but biology is essentially the same. I never had period pain but I'm still a woman. My friends haven't had children but they're still female.

It's possible to define the personality that likes a type of clothing and activity, feminine if we have to. But Biology is biology.

RosesAndRaindrops · 01/08/2019 21:08

@mewk Same, I actually think this thread is an interesting discussion so far, one that people are feeling they can speak on ( couple who don't like it, and have to resort to insults or laughter, but that's to be expected)

FormerMediocreMale · 01/08/2019 21:08

Most people still think "penis = man & vagina = woman" I'm merely here to educate people on why that isn't the case

It over 99% of the population it is the case.

Around .02% of people are intersex, which is to do with chromosomes unlike trans.

Can you post links to the studies you mentioned. Others have already posted links to disprove the "gendered brain". So post yours that prove it so we can be educated rather than just your say so.

PetrolBastard · 01/08/2019 21:09

I'm still waiting for you to tell me how a detailed description of the difference between the lives and men and women is going to change your position on this matter. It's not, is it?

NeurotrashWarrior · 01/08/2019 21:09

Still know I can like all those things and still be 100% woman though

Yes. So how do you know this?

RosesAndRaindrops · 01/08/2019 21:10

Nobody's here to educate as such, but I can see what Mewk means that it;'s a good discussion to be had if people actually do want to discuss.

Doyoumind · 01/08/2019 21:11

The point of this thread was to arrive at a definition that can be applied in a legal context.

OP posts:
RosesAndRaindrops · 01/08/2019 21:12

The point of this thread was to arrive at a definition that can be applied in a legal context.

Yes, fair enough, but it still evolved into a "define" branch as well.

DecomposingComposers · 01/08/2019 21:13

I honestly can't think of any differences between living as a man and living as a woman apart from biological stuff like peeing standing up and pregnancy.

So you're saying that there are no differences between men and women other than physical, biological differences?

In which case, why all of the threads criticising men for what they do? If men and women are the same apart from biological functions where do these behavioural differences come from?

Doyoumind · 01/08/2019 21:13

Perhaps mewk would like to offer a potential definition.

OP posts:
FormerMediocreMale · 01/08/2019 21:15

roses mewk said she wants to educate us

it's unfortunate because I adore having these sorts of conversations with those willing to be educated

so i am asking her to do so. I will gladly read any studies she links but i'm not going to simply take her opinion as fact when it has been disproved.

mewk · 01/08/2019 21:16

@FormerMediocreMale my phone is on 8% but I think this was it,, if its the wrong one I apologise and will come back when I get to charge my phone

Just because trans people are a minority, doesn't mean they don't exist or their existence is false

@Doyoumind trans people existing isn't an opinion, it is fact lol
