Seriously Procter & Gamble? Is this a joke?

What happened with Munroe Bergdorf?

ScrimshawTheSecond · 05/06/2019 20:13

Excellent news. Get more TRAs in the public eye, speaking up at length and in detail about what they believe in.

Munroe Bergdorf was my PeakTrans Person. Go Paris!

ChattyLion · 05/06/2019 20:27

When I think of Lees I think of their revolting ‘eyefuck’ article. Do shampoo marketing people honestly not google things before they pay people to endorse their products?

NewarkShark · 05/06/2019 20:33

I don’t have any problem with this. Paris has said some questionable things in the past but I actually agree it’s good for trans people to be visible and represented.

dpwm Munroe bergdorf was selected for a L’oreal Campaign but then tweets of her saying all, yes all, white people are guilty of racial violence were publicised and she was let go.

Treefloof · 05/06/2019 20:57

See if Jason Momoa did the advert I wouldn't mind, thanks starjasmine for the pic.
I dont even care much that Paris is doing the campaign. It's the utterly stupid comment about women and hair, so much so that I with my short mop of wiry grey hair am obviously a bloody man then.

TheInebriati · 05/06/2019 21:07

Would Pantene accept those types of comments from one of their own employees? If not then they have poor judgment and double standards.

FizzyGreenWater · 05/06/2019 21:10

Isn't Pantene that fakey stuff which makes your hair look shiny because it's coated in plastic but actually it's shit?

Quite the clued-up choice then.

nevernotstruggling · 05/06/2019 21:16

I think pl is a v risky choice. And actually not because it's a trans person but because it's pl!!

Outofinspiration · 05/06/2019 21:32

It's the utterly stupid comment about women and hair, so much so that I with my short mop of wiry grey hair am obviously a bloody man then.

It's so fucking sexist isn't it?

Being a woman is all about having long, swishy hair extensions apparently.

Needmoresleep · 05/06/2019 21:54

Pantene will know what market they are aiming at.

Probably young cool and woke. Probably not me, who only ever bought it when there was a BOGOF at Sainsbury's. I guess they know what they are doing, and will make money.

stillathing · 05/06/2019 21:55

I think what Munroe said about racism was probably the most sensible thing I've heard from Munroe. I'm not convinced they fully understood it though, as there are very obvious parallels to be drawn with sexism.

stillathing · 05/06/2019 21:56

Pantene has never been considered cool in the past. I really doubt it is now.

Needmoresleep · 05/06/2019 22:04

But isn't that what they are hoping for by hiring Paris as their 'face' or more accurately 'hair'.

Terfnserf · 05/06/2019 22:27

Pantene always struck me as a bit cheap anyway, the sort of thing you buy in Home Bargains, so not like being the face of Chanel is it.

Destinysdaughter · 05/06/2019 22:28

Paris hates older women and was convicted of a violent offence ( Male pattern violence) when they were younger. So not like a woman. FUCK THIS SHIT. We are being gaslighted on every single level right now and this is just yet another product to boycott just like Budweiser, Wagamama, Primark, Topshop, Ocado etc etc

Messyisthenewtidy · 05/06/2019 22:42

God it’s so tedious. Here we are, us old gender critical birds faithfully chipping away at the “femininity = swishy hair /high heels / perfect make up” bullshit and then TRAs arrive on the scene to tell us exactly that “femininity = swishy hair /high heels / perfect make up” and undo all the work we’ve done protesting that shit. No wonder we’re pissed off.

Erythronium · 05/06/2019 22:58

I don't think a female with jailtime for assault in her past would ever be allowed to become a brand ambassador for a Proctor and Gamble brand. Special women get forgiven so much more.

Paris Lees, Paris Sleeze, isn't that the joke in the name? Why they picked it?

Erythronium · 05/06/2019 23:03

It is very easy to boycott Pantene. I'd also heard it coats your hair in plastic to make it shine. Hairdressers don't like it.

BingBongSong · 05/06/2019 23:11

I think both Gillette and Pantene are Proctor and Gamble, along with numerous other brands.

2Rebecca · 05/06/2019 23:27

I think it's good that Pantene have realised the male 50% of the population would also benefit from their shampoos. Good marketing. Female hair isn't much different to male hair apart from the hormone effect on the follicles.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 05/06/2019 23:30

bingbong I Was just thinking that I’m going to need to boycott a lot of P &G products not just Pantene.

Ariel and Fairy will have to go and DH will have to manage without Viakal.

2Rebecca · 05/06/2019 23:31

I use Head and Shoulders mainly. Until recently it was also their "for men" shampoo as it was on special offer and they all contain much the same stuff.

AlwaysComingHome · 05/06/2019 23:32

If Pantene want to attract the Woke crowd they’re going to have to make shampoo that turns your hair blue.

BingBongSong · 05/06/2019 23:34

Off the top of my head, they own:

  • Arial and Lenor
  • Fairy (I think)
  • Aussie
  • Flash
  • Pringles
  • Head and Shoulders

Do female hormones do anything to prevent male pattern baldness? Asking out of interest with no particular relevance to this thread
