He's taking a break but he's left us with this. I may have cried a little...

The very reasonable responses from trans supporters in the comments destroy his argument. "Go fuck yourself" That showed him! Grin

BoreOfWhabylon · 08/05/2019 23:53

We ned a Mumsnet outing to Pope Ted Grin

BoreOfWhabylon · 08/05/2019 23:53

need ffs!

NotTerfNorCis · 09/05/2019 00:02

Yep the TRAs aren't making themselves look good in the comments. No actual answer to the article, just abuse.

MrsToddsShortcut · 09/05/2019 00:49

Thank you Glinner, so much. You joined us in sticking your neck on the line and we hugely appreciate it. Am only sorry more high profile men don't share your courage and integrity.

Take care ThanksWine

OccasionalKite · 09/05/2019 01:07

Glinner, thank you for speaking up so helpfully and persistently, and so incisively, for the rights of girls and women. You've taken a hell of a lot of abuse for it, including a misguided PC Plod and police force. You've done a lot of heavy lifting for the rights of girls and women.

These campaigns are like relay races, rather than continuous individual marathons. From time to time, we all need a rest, and that is natural and good. In my experience, others - new and/or old - will and do pick up the baton - again - and run with it for a while, and others have a bit of a deserved rest for a while, and then so it goes on. Courage calls to courage, etc!

Glinner, I wish you and your family all the best, and thank you very much.

ChattyLion · 09/05/2019 04:33

A fantastic article. One for the ‘break it down for me’ thread I think.
Thank you so much for your integrity, persistence and bravery Glinner.
You’ve put your personal energy, money and time towards the good of women and children though you didn’t have to, so thank you for that. Flowers Gin

GassyAss · 09/05/2019 06:11

Another wholehearted thanks from me too to Graham. I can’t imagine what the last few months have been like for him and his family. Rest now, my friend.
Reading a TRA’s tweet about Graham’s hateful treatment of a transwoman in the IT Crowd led me to revisit it’s genius again. Much chortling at Douglas who fell for a woman that used to be a man, or as he heard it “used to be from Iran”. Much lol and no hatefulness at all.

MrsJamin · 09/05/2019 06:35

Thank you @glinner for all you've done. Flowers Now gowan and have a cup of tea. Go on, go on.... Brew

AnnaNimmity · 09/05/2019 06:40

I thought it was such a good article. Summed it all up perfectly.

Floisme · 09/05/2019 07:48

Thanks Glinner, best wishes to your family and come back and see us Flowers

Genderfreelass · 09/05/2019 09:49

Thanks Glinner enjoy the break Flowers

RuffleCrow · 09/05/2019 09:52

I haven't read it, but are we really thanking a man who's decided to stop defending women?

Great. Smashing. Looks like it's just us against the trans juggernaut again then. Hmm

Spinnaret · 09/05/2019 10:29

Maybe try reading it then.

Outanabout · 09/05/2019 10:41

RuffleCrow sometimes people have to take a break for the sake of their own wellbeing. He's been under constant unremitting attack, he's probably exhausted from the doxxing and police harassment.

AnotherLass · 09/05/2019 10:45

Incidentally, about a month ago I spent a bit of time looking up who follows glinner using this tool www.unfollowspy.com/isfriends.php

A LOT of very high profile people do, from many different walks of life, including the media and politics.

It gave me a lot of hope. Of course, it doesn't mean that they agree with him, but it does mean that they will have at least been exposed to some truth on the topic.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 09/05/2019 10:49

RuffleCrow I get what you’re saying, women don’t have the option here of just stopping when exhausted fighting for their basic rights... but anyone who has a public profile is being subjected to a lot more vitriol in real life than most of us are. There are women who have had to break from this too.

BlackeyedGruesome · 09/05/2019 11:12

Writer writes about the abuse one receives if one mentions trans.

Commenters confirm by posting they hope he dies. Thus proving the truth of some of his assertions.

Not very bright are they?

LangCleg · 09/05/2019 11:58

Thanks, Graham, for all you've done. Hugely appreciated.

But y'know, to save this thread from becoming entirely Inner Beryl and White Knight focused, I'm going to say that ZuttZeVootEeeVro does have a point.

This is a pro-woman movement. I say this with love, Graham, and in acknowledgement of the shit you've taken, but, if you ever decide to re-enter the fray I would ask you to reflect on the way in which whenever you need an appeal to authority, you very often use a male trans person with some degree of GC views.

The authorities about women's rights are women.

Our Inner Beryls often stop us being direct about this with you: and I think that's something else you could reflect on.

My Inner Beryl duly vanquished - ingrate! unkind! take what you can get! don't moan! - I'll say thanks again for everything you've done and tried to do in defence of women.

Tootsweets23 · 09/05/2019 12:29

Heartfelt thanks @glinner - you didn't have to stick your head above the parapet, and that you did will forever make you an even bigger hero to me than you were already.

RuffleCrow · 09/05/2019 12:35

I have read it Spinnaret and my feelings on him remain unchanged. What were you hoping would happen?

Spinnaret · 09/05/2019 12:49

That maybe you would have more understanding his position. He hasn't said he will never support women again. Just that he needs to step back for the moment. I dip in and out. I actively engage for a while, get too drained and step back. And I am not a public persona.

If you still feel the same way having actually read it, fine. You are as welcome to your stance as I am to mine.

RuffleCrow · 09/05/2019 13:01

I understand his position anyway. I know he has been unwell and under a lot of pressure. Why make it so official though? Most people would just simply take a break and come back to it if and when they felt better. It's only social media, pretty casual. No need to make monthly GC tweet quotas.

This official announcement seemed more like he was trying to redirect the TRAs in some way. "This has been my position but don't flame me, i'm out of the game".

Ereshkigal · 09/05/2019 15:01

Not very bright are they?

An easy question to answer.

Ereshkigal · 09/05/2019 15:04

Good post Lang. I agree. Women are the authority on women's rights, not male transsexuals, however welcome their support.

Thank you for all you have done for women Glinner. It is much appreciated 🍷
