NC for this because it’s in my local area and don’t want my other very outing posts linked together.

I’ve had enough of this shit. Seriously. What can we do? I feel like every day we read about rapists and abusers walking free, and very rarely hear about them ever being punished.

That’s absolutely horrific. It makes me so mad.

it was role play- FUCK OFF

if it was rape she’d have been more “emotional” - FUCK OFF.

Couldn’t have been rape as she had a successful career and drives a car- FUCK RIGHT OFF

I’m so sick of this shit. It was filmed. She was crying and saying no. No consent. That’s rape.

Gingerkittykat · 09/04/2019 19:30

The bastard not proven verdict rears its ugly head again. We all know he is really guilty but not enough evidence, although I don't know what more evidence you could possibly need :(

Ereshkigal · 09/04/2019 19:30

That's appalling Angry

JessicaWakefieldSV · 09/04/2019 19:31

Fucking hell. I don’t even know what to say. Wtf is wrong with this world

DaedricLordSlayer · 09/04/2019 19:31

Jesus

Erythronium · 09/04/2019 19:34

FFS another BDSM defence for male sexual violence that's been accepted by a jury. Disgusting.

Now she's afraid for her life. :(

SleepingSloth · 09/04/2019 19:35

This is horrendous.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 09/04/2019 19:36

I’m with Julie Bindel when it comes to jury’s for rape & sexual assault trials, it’s not appropriate. A panel of experts in all areas around this type of assault, including those that work with rapists, is the only way forward. How could a jury watch that and acquitt?

brodybear · 09/04/2019 19:39

Absolutely disgusting.

GregoryPeckingDuck · 09/04/2019 19:40

This stems down to the normalisation of BDSM. Thirty years ago I doubt a hurt would be swayed by the notion of ‘role play’ without convincing evidence that they regularly engaged in such. The courts should introduce a test specific to BDSM consent related defences but I’m not sure that would be enough. I would go as far as to ask whether jury trail is still appropriate in rape cases given how twisted the societal view of normal sex has become.

FFS another BDSM defence for male sexual violence

Exactly. This is becoming more and more common isn't it?

And this --> The bastard not proven verdict rears its ugly head again is a problem as well.

It just feels a constant stream of bullshit that's almost designed to protect violent men. Angry

Sounds bizarre. I can only assume the jury heard other evidence that swayed their opinion.

XXcstatic · 09/04/2019 20:03

Some US states have improved their conviction rates by making juries receive training that challenges their assumptions about how rape victims behave.

It's so maddening that the defence in this case was able to convince the jury that the victim wasn't emotional enough. Women survive rape by avoiding antagonising the rapist Angry

JessicaWakefieldSV · 09/04/2019 20:09

Like what?? She said no. He hurt her. She cried. All on tape. This is the best evidence a rape victim could have.

OvaHere · 09/04/2019 20:09

Really appalling. This is the latest in a slew of these type of verdicts.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 09/04/2019 20:10

I honestly do not know how defence lawyers do it. How the fuck do you watch a tape like that and defend a man, then say she wasn’t emotional enough. Ffs

justasking111 · 09/04/2019 20:14

Did this happen in Scotland?

Erythronium · 09/04/2019 20:15

It sounds absolutely par for the course in rape trials. Men get away with rape by claiming "she consented" all the time., they get away with murder too using the same defence.

Is there a woman on this thread who is surprised this happened?

BixBeiderbecke · 09/04/2019 20:17

Angry Angry Angry

AverageMan · 09/04/2019 20:18

I'm not sure if that evidence would be regarded as hearsay? You'd want a third party to have recorded it to really stand up in court.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 09/04/2019 20:21

You'd want a third party to have recorded it to really stand up in court.

Are you being serious? A third party WOULD STOP IT

hearsay?!!!! Whatever you think that words means, you are wrong. Fucking hell.

Faithless12 · 09/04/2019 20:34

Why would a recording be counted as hearsay? It’s an actual live recording not a recording of what she says transpires.
