Fuck. My turn for trans awareness training.

At work. I've told my boss I'll probably fail and my reasons why. She was pretty good about it and interested when I explained my views. But I have to pass. It's mandatory. I wonder if it's going to give me a pronouns test?

Are trans people allowed to be excluded if the material could be triggering? You sound very none binary to me.

KatvonHostileExtremist · 31/03/2019 19:04

If they don't include shey/shem pronouns accuse them of queerphobia and storm out

Can you practice the line “that’s fascinating, but...”? So twaw and should access women’s spaces: “ that’s fascinating but what about the provision for single sex exemptions in EqQ 2010 which specify it’s legal to exclude if it’s a proportionate means to a legitimate end?”
Every time, come back with a question based on rationality and science to demonstrate that Tehran’s people are entitled to all HILUMAN rights but are not magic and are not entitled to the rights of other protected groups.

HolyFuckA · 31/03/2019 19:10

Midge I am wearing trousers today. Also makeup. No blue hair but think I may be non binary as I never wear heels. It's all very confusing, and you're right, triggering. Maybe I should see occy health for an exemption?

Midge Wink!!

If it's mandatory, maybe take the Michael Conroy approach during the session?

Questions, as far as I'm aware, aren't yet criminal offences! Though given Harry The Owl's recent experience, we're not far off.

PegLegAntoine · 31/03/2019 19:13

That shey/shem thing is a joke meme right? Please?

HolyFuckA · 31/03/2019 19:14

Oh Kat I am now 'shem' I'll ask HR to amend my paperwork.

Mrs it's e-learning. At least no one to witness my humiliation. But in all honesty I'm not sure I'll be able to even guess the right answers, the TRAs can't even get their answers straight ffs.

Sorry, I am very grumpy over this.

(I am autistic and can’t always tell...)

thirdfiddle · 31/03/2019 19:14

Ask lots of questions. Very easy to tie the woke brigade in knots without outing yourself at all. Perhaps the training could help you discover your nonbinary-ness. Make sure you turn up wearing khaki trousers if possible, that'll make you an automatic GI Joe jelly baby.

Though more seriously it would be understandable if you just wanted to keep your head down and tick the box for the sake of your job. Taking notes of the most ridiculous things said for future reference could help you keep your sanity?

thirdfiddle · 31/03/2019 19:16

Oh, e-training? Don't worry then, should be easy to work out correct answers. They're not subtle.

HolyFuckA · 31/03/2019 19:21

third I shall resent every "right" answer. It's interesting, the training is equality, diversity and trans awareness- we've recently been stonewalled...

KatvonHostileExtremist

If you read that shey/shem attachment out loud it sounds like a fair impression of Sir Sean Connery Grin

pombear · 31/03/2019 19:27

So if it's specifically trans-awareness training, not a wider equality and diversity training, potentially maybe you've either got the GIRES e-learning:

GIRES is grateful for the funding that the Department for Communities and Local Government committed to support the development of this e-learning resource. The resource is intended for use by organisations in the public and private sectors.

Or maybe FutureLearn's version, co-produced by the one and only Meg -John Barker (the partner of our cherished masonic Edward Lorde!) promising A basic understanding of legislation around rights and responsibilities surrounding trans identities I suspect, given the current mangling of the law around rights and responsibilities under the Equality Act, this may indeed both be basic, and incorrect?

It would be interesting to hear your feedback once you've done the training as to whether the law you're being asked to understand is represented accurately, given this weekend's letter, by lawyers?

Guys, this is not a joke, I repeat, this is not a joke....

Sean Connery 😂😂😂

Iused2BanOptimist · 31/03/2019 19:29

E-training ? I normally read through the training, take screen grabs of every page on my phone and then use them if in doubt about the answers. We are allowed three tries so I screen grab every answer on first attempt which normally means I have the answer for second attempt if needed though sometimes they mix the questions up a bit to keep you on your toes. You just have to suck it up and do it.
Maybe make a complaint to HR after if you're are brave enough. Reference and query every daft question. It could be a bought in package in which case you could advise them that it is poor value and inaccurate pointing out why. If that won't be a black mark against you.

zanahoria · 31/03/2019 19:31

Just insist that you are open to learning facts but will not be tested on opinions.

ToeToToe · 31/03/2019 19:32

God, have people really nothing better to do than invent new pronouns?? Such pomo bullshit.

HerFemaleness · 31/03/2019 19:33

Once you 'hear' it in Sean Connery's voice, you can't unhear it. Grin

thenightsky · 31/03/2019 19:34

Bloody e-training. Excuse for them to get away with spouting shite that nobody can question more like.

GarthFunkel · 31/03/2019 19:38

Do you have to do it where other people can see you flicking the Vs at the screen and rolling your eyes and hear you muttering for fuckssssake? Perhaps you could answer with your fingers crossed behind your back?

Candidpeel · 31/03/2019 19:39

You are going to come back and tell us about it?

HermioneWeasley · 31/03/2019 19:46

What role do you do that trans training is mandatory and has a test which must be passed?

HoozThatGirl · 31/03/2019 19:49

I'd guess the NHS?

justicewomen · 31/03/2019 19:58

It would great if you take it and report back on how they interpret the law. In particular do they recommend an equality impact assessment also consider the impact of any polices amended to accommodate trans people on the protected characteristics of sex, religion and belief and disability?

It is often that failure to look at the balance of rights (and potential for indirect discrimination) that is the undoing of the pressure -groups advocated policies. Also they forget that, in general (ie unless expressly allowed in the Act, it is unlawful to positively discriminate in favour of any PC except disability. They can do positive action but not discrimination see s158

Butterymuffin · 31/03/2019 20:00

Yes, do report back. And look for the name of the training course and provider.
