At work. I've told my boss I'll probably fail and my reasons why. She was pretty good about it and interested when I explained my views. But I have to pass. It's mandatory. I wonder if it's going to give me a pronouns test?

I had to do this. It was the GIRES one. It said that if a woman in the swimming baths was uncomfortable with a penis-owner using the female changing rooms, that we should advise the woman to go elsewhere.

Hmm
nauticant · 31/03/2019 20:07

At the least, if you come across questions that compel you to give answers which you know to be factually incorrect/statements of politics rather than fact, you might want to make a record of them. While no one is watching, of course.

AgentProvocateur · 31/03/2019 20:07

The difference between public and private sector. I had to do mandatory etraining today too - but mine was anti bribery and corruption. I passed on the third attempt.

HolyFuckA · 31/03/2019 20:13

Yes, I will report back. I'm sure it'll help me and my wrong think...

I have a list of shitty e-learning to do. Health and safety, GDPR and the likes. Then this thrown in for good measure. Fortunately I have some overtime I need to put in which I've had the green light to do at home, so I'll make sure I do this one then. That way at least I can scream loudly as I plough through it.

I will provide feedback to my boss. I've already told her we're in breach of the equality act with our equality policy (gender cited, not sex). Had it minuted in my meeting with her. Small things but I keep plodding on with it.

I'm local government. Woke of the woke. It can be excruciating but my team are pretty good and know I'm GC.

Sorry, I'm shit at responding to individual posts but I will keep this thread as a reference point for when I do it so I can make notes. If I'm questioned as to why it took me so long I'll let them know it was because I found it so hard and confusing. Which it will be with all the fucking word salad and mental gymnastics that goes with this shit.

I never thought I would say this, but I am really grateful to be old and retired and way past having to put up with this utter batshitting fuckwittery.

thenightsky · 31/03/2019 21:11

BiologyIsReal

Me too. Trouble is I do temping jobs in the NHS and they insist on the mandatory training thing if I want to keep taking short term work there.

I just completed the full list of training to get me up to date, and trans-stuff wasn't on the list.

CallingDannyBoy · 31/03/2019 21:11

I think you need to be in the righ frame of mind. Speak all the questions out in a Sean Connery voice and wear a camo jacket and sling backs.

NeurotrashWarrior · 31/03/2019 21:32

Once you 'hear' it in Sean Connery's voice, you can't unhear it.

Yep! GrinGrinGrinGrin

NeurotrashWarrior · 31/03/2019 21:34

I've just finally realised the value of working with very many very stubborn outspoken women.

They won't take no shit if this rubbish comes anywhere near us.

EvelynShaw · 31/03/2019 22:25

Out of interest - what happens if you ‘fail’? Genuine question - I’m not in the uk and the trans bandwagon hasn’t rolled over human rights where I am. Yet.

thenightsky · 31/03/2019 22:32

EvelynShaw

Not sure about the OP's local government employer, but if you fail a mandatory on-line training in my NHS trust, you have to do face to face training where you WILL pass.

GraceMarks · 01/04/2019 10:03

Sounds like the one on Civil Service Learning? As far as I remember, it's mostly about race and sexuality, with one "example" about a trans person. It really wasn't that bad, it was just pointing out that an employer shouldn't "out" a trans person to their colleagues without their permission. That said, I did it more than a year ago and it could well have changed by now. Let us know what it's like, as I think I have to do a mandatory refresher on it soon...

hipsterfun · 01/04/2019 10:34

I’d be failing on purpose so I could sit and do this Confused in person for an hour then ‘pass’ because the alternative is most likely a long stay in the gulag

MNSDKHheroines · 01/04/2019 10:47

If they give you a list of protected characteristics and it doesn't include sex take a screenshot/photo.

EvelynShaw · 01/04/2019 12:36

thehightsky thanks! The mind boggles. Esp since it’s at the NHS...

HolyFuckA · 01/04/2019 20:14

Ok, notes taken. I'm thinking I might attempt it next Monday night about 8pm if anyone is up for a live q and a session...fuck knows I'll be in need of the support. Or will that be considered cheating? Tbf the whole thing will be cheating anyway because I sure as hell won't be answering what I really think.

OP posts:
CatGoals · 01/04/2019 20:40

I am definitely down for a live stream! Grin

OhHolyJesus · 01/04/2019 21:20

Ditto - I did something similar I think, I'd be interested to see what yours asks!

thenightsky · 01/04/2019 21:22

I can pretty much predict there won't be any boxes where you can free type your opinions. It will be multiple choice boxes and you'll get a red cross or a green tick depending on whether you are a good compliant employee. [cynical public servant]

hipsterfun · 01/04/2019 21:57

Sounds like a laugh, Holy, but I worry you’d out yourself (timing plus questions would probably be enough for somebody with too much time on their hands to put two and two together).

Trousering · 01/04/2019 22:14

Hello, I was on a mandatory holiday from mumsnet. Clearly the stuff I say is unpopular with the external monitors.
I would definitely fail this training. I would simply explain it is rejecting truthful and honest, legally held views and statements of fact.

ToeToToe · 02/04/2019 01:00

Hi Trousering, welcome back. I had one of those recently too Wink

S1naidSucks · 02/04/2019 01:22

Welcome back you naughty, radical women. 🥇

ScienceIsTruth · 02/04/2019 11:40

I would have to be honest to myself so I wouldn't last long in a job like this as I'd have to put what I really think; but I would back up my position with facts, and I would fight it.
I'm also, just generally, not good at keeping what I think to myself though.

As a compromise, you could answer truthfully the first few times, and then on your last attempt, give the expected answers.

Tbh, the equality act should really be protecting you from having to go along with this crap.
Surely as sex is a protected characteristic, you're entitled to single sex changing rooms so the correct legal answer would be that someone with a penis should use the male changing rooms. That is factually correct, surely?
Also, my beliefs don't tally with transgenderism. I don't believe humans can change sex and I believe that transgenderism is a mental health problem, that's evolving into an almost religious cult.
