Twitter spat, obv.

The fallout from Anthony's recent initiative to arrange a letter from lots of men scolding women for disobedience. It's come to his attention that Helen Joyce of The Economist is non-compliant. He tweeted her employers about this stubborn refusal to fall into line, and then the next step was to demand a debate with her.

Said debate has now actually apparently been agreed to and arranged, but not before a series of tweets from him demanding that she sort complimentary tickets and perform admin tasks.

It's well worth a read, all screenshotted here for those who are blocked. He's also found time to demand a debate with Graham Linehan, with whom he's very upset because Graham has told gays what to do despite not being one himself. The irony was just too much there.

All well worth a read for anyone wanting a giggle on a Sunday morning.

Money.

With Linda it is all about the money.

They are all aboard the Inclusion gravy train, funded by government and charities.

hackmum · 27/03/2019 11:48

By paying to have his tweet promoted, it has come up on the timeline of loads of people who have no fucking idea who he is. They look at it. Scratch the surface of who he is and who Helen is and they can see a lot. They see him being a bullying misogynist rich white champagne socialist. Helen as a considered thoughtful balanced journalist for The Economist FFS, not the National Enquirer or the Daily Star.

Great, isn't it? It would take a heart of stone not to laugh.

BreakWindandFire · 27/03/2019 11:57

He's such a brat isn't he?

Cloven · 27/03/2019 11:57

Did anyone read the Daily Dot article?

It was not exactly a competent hatchet job. In fact many of the quotes it included from Helen Joyce made her sound downright reasonable. I think TRAs live in such an echo chamber that they don't even know how to defame people any more because they don't know what sounds bad to normal people.

I'm feeling a bizarre form of disappointment in the article; there's probably a word for it in German. I mean, I'm pretty sure I could do a better selectively-quoted and distorted hatchet job article accusing Helen Joyce of transphobia and I'm GC to the max.

littlbrowndog · 27/03/2019 12:00

All the lols at Watson paying to promote his tweets then everyone seeing it

All the money in world can’t buy a brain 👊

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 27/03/2019 12:09

Anthony Watson has never been told "No" before, has he.

And he really doesn't like it.

This is a joy to behold.

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 27/03/2019 12:20

As if the economist would make tickets free for him and his mates Hmm

Seems loaded enough, he can buy them himself. As for expecting tivket prices to go to Mermaids?! That threads just ridiculous and as always, I am awed by how well sme women can avoid just blowing up at these dickheads..

Floisme · 27/03/2019 12:21

Sorry I couldn't find a better pic but here is Peep Show Mark at the launch of his book - 'Business Secrets of the Pharaohs.'

Mark only had to pay half of his own publishing costs though so he did a better job than Anthony Watson.

I think that's spot-on.

Phrases like you need to be 're-educated', or biology is hate speech, and the sudden whining about being vulnerable when they're clearly bashing you over the head with their misogyny, makes most people just think 'wanker'.

Your difficulty then is convincing them that these absolute wankers are changing laws and influencing government policies.

Haworthia · 27/03/2019 13:21

I’ve just got to the bit where it turns out the conference is in Hong Kong. You couldn’t make this up

Yes, that was when it started getting embarrassing. I was half expecting him to change his availability to June 31st and insist on inviting a unicorn to chair the debate.

Sitdownstandup · 27/03/2019 13:35

What gets me is, when he realised it was in Hong Kong not the UK, that gave him the opportunity for a somewhat grateful out. I've got an event the night before so couldn't travel to be there, low income friends couldn't go to Asia even with free tickets, that sort of thing. And he didn't take it!

"As if the economist would make tickets free for him and his mates"

"Seems loaded enough, he can buy them himself"

Don't knock it, this is how wankers like him get rich and stay that way. Never spend your own money when you can spend someone else's. It's engraved on their stony hearts

Sitdownstandup · 27/03/2019 13:41

Graceful not grateful. I mean, he would still have looked a tit, but a bit less of one.

How can Anthony be misogynistic when here he is providing support to a woman who is definitely the victim in this situation

Ha. Helen OWNED the narcissistic misogynistic little dick. AGAIN

Justhadathought · 28/03/2019 10:58

Yo mean Aimee Challenor.....?

Aimee Challenor has 'her'self treated women appallingly and shows little regard for women as a class. No sympathy whatsoever, as is often the case with these radical Trans rights Activists.

Misogyny is far more than how you interact with just one person, anyway - it is more about attitudes towards the whole class of people. Unacknowledged prejudices, assumptions and attitudes.

Justhadathought · 28/03/2019 11:02

That there is so little solidarity with actual women; so little sympathy for what women are endeavouring to explain - makes rubbish of the arguments about identifying as a woman, or of being a friend to women.

If you truly identify as something; feel a shared sense of self - then more understanding would be evident. The fact is that no matter what Aimee feels s/he is a trans-woman, not a woman. And Anthony Watson is a privileged and entitled in the extreme. So much narcissism amongst gay men

Sitdownstandup · 28/03/2019 11:33

I'm always bemused by woke bro types feeling they're entitled to stick their oar into inter-woman discussions, when they probably wouldn't with other marginalised groups. There's generally a view on the left that some discussions are between members of the group, and not being part of it means you should be quiet. I accept that if you think a woman is someone who says they feel like one, anyone identifying as a woman should be included, but Anthony doesn't even claim to be a woman. In any sense at all. Such a logic fail. Yet he was annoyed with Graham Linehan for what he saw as meddling in gay issues.

If he were at all consistent, the most he should be doing is supporting and retweeting woman/woman identified trans supporters.

EweSurname · 28/03/2019 11:36

justathought I did mean Aimee but was being sarcastic - it clearly didn't transmit very well!

beagadorsrock · 28/03/2019 11:50

Yo mean Aimee Challenor.....?

I think it's important to point out (for those just reading now) that the support provided in that last tweet is about criticism of a Birmingham Univ Labour posts about how great it was to have AC, L Madigan and S Pascoe (conservative) talk about being 'trans women in politics'.

And the criticism is not because AM is the child of a convicted child rapist (who staunchly defended him for a long long time), but because it is absolutely wrong for someone who has been clearly identified as someone who does not understand a large part of the law of the land (with regards to safeguarding in particular) to have any kind of public 'representative' or advisory role, especially with regards to vulnerable people: as conatusnews.com/green-party-verita-report-challenor/ says,

"people are being elevated into roles they are not capable of fulfilling, solely based on their status as ‘diverse’. While we should remember that such ‘diverse’ people have often been excluded from positions of power and influence, to commit to inclusion means to treat them like human beings – flawed but capable of making decisions for themselves. Not as simultaneously someone who can hold positions as a national spokesperson on LGBTIQA+ issues, a member of the executive of the national party, and a suitable candidate for deputy leader of the party, and yet also be a vulnerable and innocent teenager whose autism and stressful circumstances lead to them potentially allowing children to be exposed to a sexual predator."

BreakWindandFire · 28/03/2019 12:26

Helen tweeted that GLAAD (ie. Watson) had handed a dossier on her to the DailyDot. So Watson provided all the information for the hit job to the journo and when they wrote the article, paid to tweet it as independent 'evidence' of her transphobia. Hmm

Ereshkigal · 28/03/2019 12:37

I'm always bemused by woke bro types feeling they're entitled to stick their oar into inter-woman discussions, when they probably wouldn't with other marginalised groups.

It's because they are galloping misogynists who've found an excellent outlet for it with very little comeback or cost to them. They don't really see actual women as people with valid thoughts and opinions and the right to organise for themselves.

Sitdownstandup · 28/03/2019 12:39

Pretty much...

It seems to me that the misogyny of a lot of these men isn't merely a part of their personality. It's their raison d'etre.

Many of them spend a disproportionate amount of time misogynising at women.
