ReSisters groups in Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham, Cambridge, Cardiff and across the country were out making a point for women last night and did an amazing job. Please share your photos here!

Also, is there a link to the Scottish group?

@ScotReSisters

WeRiseUp · 28/01/2019 15:21

It's only fair to credit them

Exactly.

2rebecca · 28/01/2019 15:22

The forwomen.scot group are active but not formally linked to the resisters network

FairfaxAikman · 28/01/2019 15:24

FANTASTIC. Thanks to all of you, you are amazing. xxx

FlawedAmazon · 28/01/2019 16:11

Apparently Newport Council don't have any actual crimes to solve, so need some t-shirts to be removed as a 'matter of urgency'

I'm sure all of the homeless people and crime victims in the area will be delighted to see that their priorities are spot on.

FairfaxAikman, DontEverCallMeCis

The @ScotReSisters did not do any of the Scottish statues.

FairfaxAikman · 28/01/2019 16:22

Well fantastic work whoever did

Melroses · 28/01/2019 16:23

OFGS. Standing for Women supplied all that merch. It's only fair to credit them.

They are a good design. Simple and effective. All the statues look really good in them. Harry the owl looked good in his. Fionne who is no longer on twitter looked lovely in the customised adult human male one.

I need one for pilates, then I will look good too Grin

welshgendercrit · 28/01/2019 16:29

This is fantastic! All of these different grass roots groups springing up, and helping each other out

Because these are women and that's what women have had to learn to do through the centuries.

The photos are truly wonderful and bring a lump to my throat.

feministfairy · 28/01/2019 16:31

Well done ReSisters everywhere.
Awesome photos and actions. Flowers

Heartbroken by women’s disobedience
Lols
Great job wome resisters

FactsAreNotMean · 28/01/2019 16:34

Heartbroken by a factual definition...my eyes have rolled back so far I can see my brain.

Doobigetta · 28/01/2019 16:35

Just to be clear (and I wasn’t intending to get drawn into this but I wouldn’t want Posie to think I don’t appreciate her efforts) I asked MNHQ to change the title because I felt, and other people I conferred with agreed, that it was confusing. SFW obviously supplied the tshirts, but they did not plan the action so it would be inaccurate and misleading to leave the implication that they did in place. SFW and the ReSisters are separate organisations. Posie has been very clear that she speaks for nobody but herself. I started this thread because I think the work done last night was brilliant, and should be shared. I don’t actually speak for anybody but myself either. I think the ReSisters, SFW and Posie Parker and Jean Hatchet are all amazing. I think Lisa Muggeridge is too. And I think it’s educational for the TRAs to know that Women are not a Borg collective with A Leader. But going on about our differences when we could be celebrating our successes is self-defeating, imo. Not to mention fitting neatly into the stereotypes it would be nice to leave behind.

Excellent thread. Photos are fab. Snort at Newport council having to remove dictionary deginition t-shirts from statues as “a matter of urgency”.

WeRiseUp · 28/01/2019 17:09

it would be inaccurate and misleading to leave the implication that they did in place.

I honestly thought it read as a re-sisters action before the name change - now it transpires groups who are not Re-sisters also took part... the re-wording by MN added no clarity. Confused how was it changed?

Also - I think calling for a 'Women Stand Up' week of action and providing the merch (probably quite costly considering the number of high quality items) means that it is a sort of joint effort.

At the end of the day I am completely in awe of all the amazing women that got out in the cold and dark to take part in such a brilliant stunt. You are all amazing and which group you are afiliated with doesn't matter to me. You did it! Well done!

OrchidInTheSun · 28/01/2019 17:17

I'm hugely grateful to Posie for supplying the T-shirts (and banners) because that took the major financial hit out of the action and i honestly don't think it would have worked with any other T-shirts. It gave us a focus and a common inspiration that united women around the country.

You don't have to like Posie - I don't think she's ever demanded that - but you know where you are with her. She doesn't dissemble or pretend. She is the WYSIWYG of gender critical feminism. For those of you too young to know what that means, it was a seminal moment in the development of personal computing which means what you see on the screen is what prints out (what you see is what you get) Grin

RedemptiveCrocodile · 28/01/2019 17:33

Why did Posie and the ReSisters (and others!) participate in this campaign?

Dragon3 · 28/01/2019 17:33

What an effective campaign! I find the pictures really moving. Thank you to everyone involved.

Alex of Newport finds the dictionary definition of 'woman' 'heartbreaking'? What definition would he like to put in its place?

FlawedAmazon · 28/01/2019 17:48

Some of these transadvocates seem to have very delicate hearts, except when it comes to female erasure.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/01/2019 18:26

Nice of PN to show a good selection of the gallery - illustrating that contrary to their misleading report, no statues were 'defaced', merely temporarily dressed. Grin

My understanding is that the women involved in this action took great care to ensure that none of these statues of women was harmed in any way.

LucretiaBourgeois · 28/01/2019 18:26

That MerseyFocus article and interview were remarkably fair and friendly. It's apparently run by student journalists at Liverpool John Moores University. I wonder what kind of kickback they may find themselves facing.
