The board is, ahem, moving fast today, and some marvelous stuff is getting buried in the monster threads. I thought this might be a good place to collect reports from on the ground in D.C.

Thanks to SpartacusAutisticus for posting Natasha Chart's wonderful, raw speech outside Human Rights Campaign:

Here is the protest outside Twitter:

The fab Ann Ruzylo has been tweeting lots of photos of the Washington protests (Twitter has marked them 'sensitive' so you have to click to see the images Hmm):

Just bumping for visibility as livestream begins in five minutes. I'm looking forward to hearing from these women with different areas of expertise and points of view!

It sounds like an amazing line up.

I hope American women are inspired.

Bubonicpanic · 27/01/2019 16:10

Surely it's 1pm EST not 11am?

GrinitchSpinach · 27/01/2019 16:14

I think you are right Bubonic; Standing for Women's site says 11 am, but I found the eventbrite page for the panel and that says 1pm. Ugh! Sorry

GrinitchSpinach · 27/01/2019 16:16

Blush reading comprehension error on my part; the 11 am livestream was for the yesterday's protests. Today's panel is indeed at 1 pm. So sorry!

Twitter has marked it sensitive content?

Twitter has a problem with women

Bubonicpanic · 27/01/2019 18:32

HawayMan · 27/01/2019 18:53

Does the live feed keep jumping for anyone else?

Does it exist anywhere other than Facebook?

GrinitchSpinach · 27/01/2019 18:57

It's working ok for me through Bubonic's link. Not on Youtube at all, despite that being the link from Standing For Women's page. Confused

OP posts:
Bubonicpanic · 27/01/2019 19:03

Venice is streaming it via the standing for women facebook page

It's not jumping, maybe you bandwidth is limited.

Bubonicpanic · 27/01/2019 19:04

Wow interesting, WoLF sued the US (Obama) government for changing sex to gender identity.

GrinitchSpinach · 27/01/2019 19:05

Kara Dansky explaining the Title IX and other legal situation really clearly.

WolF are my new best friends.

GrinitchSpinach · 27/01/2019 19:21

Excellent question of the panel: How do you get over your fear and the real risks of speaking out?

All the women responding with the different ways you can speak out; how important even small actions can be as part of a collective.

OP posts:
GrinitchSpinach · 27/01/2019 19:24

Posie: "To those who won't speak up, what is your silence worth?"

Question: "The left caused this mess; can the right help us?"

Kara: "The left has completely sold out women and girls in the realms of pornography" (and prostitution?) "Women on the left who dare even speak with Republicans are trashed for doing so." "If we are going to get gender identity out of the Equality Act, we have to talk to Republicans." [Hands Across the Aisle] are extremely disciplined about not discussing marriage or abortion. We are working very hard to present a bipartisan critique of how gender identity harms women and girls. I feel personal responsibility to at least listen to and work with members of the right who are willing to give us a voice.

Meghan: "This is not a left versus right issue; this is a reality issue."
