This whole hate speech/incident law is completely out of control. This is sinister.

I'm still unclear exactly why Humberside police are even involved

yes, it would be really good to understand this

Popchyk · 28/01/2019 09:17

I'm guessing that Humberside police has a person who is known in transgender circles and who certain activists call upon to do their dirty work. Could even be Keith Hunter, Police and Crime Commissioner, himself. He seemed to jump in quickly on social media in order to try to minimise this incident.

I'm also speculating that someone more senior at Humberside Police instructed PC Gul to issue this warning to Harry, despite Humberside Police itself having absolutely no remit to do so.

I hope PC Gul has the gumption to realise that he will be the one who is hung out to dry by his superiors (in a rogue officer oversteps his authority story) and moves to protect himself.

This must be investigated.

SunsetBeetch · 28/01/2019 09:24

Oh, Labour...

RepealTheGRA · 28/01/2019 09:35

Oh dear! Labour OFFICIALLY in favour of thought control, oh dear, oh dear, oh dear

Charliethefeminist · 28/01/2019 09:42

Who's Tony Green, why is he shouting

hackmum · 28/01/2019 09:43

Are people really allowed to "shop around" to find a police force that will actually deal with their complaint? Because that will have huge ramifications if so.

Yes. It seems nonsensical. Does it mean that if I'm unhappy with my local force's response to my report of a burglary, I can contact a police force at the other end of the country? It doesn't seem very likely, does it?

It seems to me that Humberside Police have failed on two counts: they've investigated something that isn't a crime, and that doesn't fall within their jurisdiction. It really doesn't inspire confidence.

Charliethefeminist · 28/01/2019 09:46

Oh I see, okey dokey wokey blokey

SunsetBeetch · 28/01/2019 09:47

This is Tony. OFFICIALLY.

Good old Tony.
The public can now see what labour want.

NonHypotheticalLurkingParent · 28/01/2019 09:50

Popchyk* - I agree it needs investigating.

I think that the people who have been questioned by the police will be the tip of the ice berg. For all those questioned, there will be another 9 who've been reported but the police. The accusers are using a scatter-gun approach. Remember what the police told Posie when they first questioned her - they were using it as a test case. This is sinister. They want legal precedents to be set so we're all too scared to speak out.

RepealTheGRA · 28/01/2019 09:50

This needs to be posted next time Tony Pipes up.

RepealTheGRA · 28/01/2019 09:53

The precedent has been set for freedom of speech and against compelled speech by the Irish Gay cake ruling - the accusers can fuck off, the precedent has been set and it’s not in their favour! Keep speaking out everybody.

Charliethefeminist · 28/01/2019 09:59

Lol the ever present beard is a failsafe indicator - expect to see 'haters', gifs, and 'I haven't the time to debate with bigots' incoming

Iused2BanOptimist · 28/01/2019 10:03

Try doing that to get around the post code lottery that is the NHS. Hmm

littlbrowndog · 28/01/2019 10:17

TONY TONY OFFICIALLY

A friend (male) used to refer to 'beardy bastards' and I thought he was being a bit unfair, but I'm beginning to see his point. He claimed the beard was a signal to the men who worked in jobs/industries where they were expected to be clean-shaven and 'smart' that they (the bearded ones) were superior free spirits who could flout the conventions that the worker bees had to bow down to. Grin

Charliethefeminist · 28/01/2019 10:24

Haha juells if only they knew they are all drones

ToeToToe · 28/01/2019 10:29

I really have gone off Labour.

Labour had my vote in 2017. What a difference a year makes.

ToeToToe · 28/01/2019 10:41

There once was a man called Tony
Who tweeted supporting his crony
They say it's high time
They tackle thought crime
But they're talking a load of baloney.

AlexaDavie · 28/01/2019 10:45

“Datum

Ok. Any journalists out there?

Can you write about this?”

You could contact them. They might wanna write about it if they can verify it, which they could probably do by simply asking the police if they can confirm the incident happened. Spiked magazine published this today www.spiked-online.com/2019/01/28/it-isnt-terfs-who-are-bigoted-its-their-persecutors/ written by their editor.

It might be worth having a list of sympathetic publications you can send stories like this to?

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 28/01/2019 10:59

that spiked article contains implicit acceptance that gender is real and that 'there are only 2'. just goes to show what different directions everyone is coming from I suppose

If anyone is on Twitter please tweet the hashtags above and retweet all the photos. It was bloody cold last night and a lot of fabulous feminists were out on the streets hanging Adult Human Female T Shirts on female statues."

Hopefully people will share widely and talk about this.

Assistant Chief Constable Scott Young is reported as saying "In this case, there were more than 30 tweets reported to us of a transphobic nature".

That's a bold claim. If it's not actually true that looks rather libellous.

Juells · 28/01/2019 15:42

'proportionate action' 😂

Honestagod, when you're in a hole why would you keep digging?
