Everyone’s favourite women’s officer at it again

New target: Dr Louise Moody at York University. Deaf, lesbian, gender critical and precariously employed junior academic. She makes an innocuous joke about LM’s announcement on twitter about ‘coming out’ as a lesbian (ie being heterosexual). Cue a swift complaint to York asking for Louise to be fired, insinuating that LM is a student there themselves. Followed by lots of toady support by mainly males asking for this person to be ‘dealt with’. Including a female academic called Dr Jo Grady who uses terf-blocker and thinks it’s really cool to throw a disabled lesbian who is precariously employed under the bus. She has also commanded York to deal with the situation.

This is getting out of hand. Solidarity with Louise. I hope you’re okay. I actually blame people like Dr Grady more than LM, who clearly has serious issues. But how you can publicly call for someone’s sacking for this when you know what academia is like and how difficult it is for women, POC and disabled people is breathtaking. This is a lesbian woman who takes issue with a heterosexual male appropriating her marginalised status. Same as POC would presumably take issue if a white man started talking about his struggles being trans-black.

All this makes LM look like a vindictive bitch. Which may or may not be the style LM is aiming for

EverlastingGodstopper · 03/01/2019 15:13

I've just seen this and am absolutely astonished. So, let me clarify (I've always been clear on Twitter, I think).

Post PhD I went > Postdoctoral Fellowship > Lecturer > Postdoctoral Researcher > health crisis necessitating withdrawing > Research Associate (whilst I figure out what to do now I'm recovered).

Madigan is implying that their activism has had me fired when I'm not even officially employed! Being a Research Associate means you retain an affiliation (and in my case, I am indeed involved with a project): it's a very useful title since it can be a stepping stone to a future position (I am still uncertain what may happen).

The ironic thing? I DO have a paid job. There are NO details of it on-line (for obvious reason!), and it is my back-up for now.

Absolute insanity from Madigan.

morningtoncrescent62 · 03/01/2019 15:14

Madigan is taking responsibility for having Louise fired. Not just implying it.

My god. Who goes to university and then hounds anyone who exposes them to an idea that discomforts them?

louise I have no words. The grown ups have long since left the building it seems.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 03/01/2019 15:24

Thats just insane

dillydallyXX · 03/01/2019 15:28

I just hope that Labour is fully award of this individual.

Madigan repeatedly states that Labour is their substitute family. So, let's hope Labour can see what utter poison this person is, and never to let them anywhere near any position whatsoever.

OhdratNC · 03/01/2019 15:31

Solidarity Louise. Madigan is vindictive and utterly self-centred. And your tweet made me giggle (not for the first time). I appreciate your courage in speaking up. And I'm delighted that you are feeling better. Happy 2019! Flowers

LM has become pretty irrelevant due to their body of work being too damning and too extensive. Crowing over their own drama generated pretence looks rather desperate.

Best left to it.

Cocolepew · 03/01/2019 15:47

LM is a bloody fantasist. I work with someone similar, and they honestly belief whatever comes out of their mouths no matter what.

Flowers Louise.

Gaun yersel, Louise !

Don't let the narcissistic misogynist no-mark grind you down Flowers

dillydallyXX · 03/01/2019 16:11

And now the backsliding. Classic Madigan. Everything vague, non-sensical. Madigan lies, lies, lies, lies.

EverlastingGodstopper · 03/01/2019 16:16

Well, I have evidence of a (small) grant I - and two others - was awarded last Spring from York (hence my paid research position which I had to abandon), so Madigan is lying AGAIN.

Before that, I had a fixed-term contract alongside a research fellowship.

What. the. actual. fuck. is. wrong. with. them.

VickyEadie · 03/01/2019 16:18

A male Labour women’s office (or former, who knows) boasts about getting a woman (who happens to have a disability and is a lesbian) fired. What kind of lowlife is this person?

This is the modern Labour party in action, is it?

So glad I resigned my membership 18 months ago and left the misogynists to their own devices. This is a party whose current activists continue to criticise Tony Blair on moral grounds.

Needmoresleep · 03/01/2019 16:19

LM is a first year student. Does she not have exams after Christmas? Plus stuff to catch up on, given time spent swanning off to the US etc.

If she is ditched by Momentum (and surely after failing to be elected as Woman's Offcer by her CLP they must realise she is unelectable) and fails her first year, she won't have much to fall back on. Her work record is hardly stellar. Indeed even a manager at Greggs might be unsure of her capacity to sell sausage rolls without flouncing off. And her social media suggests intolerence and an inability to work with others.

(Off topic but I was once involved in funding a getting young people into work scheme. The outputs were great until we looked at the detail. The scheme seemed to have been effectively a recruitment agency for Greggs. Lots were taken on, but very few lasted more than a couple of weeks. Given the complex issues, perhaps we should have been grateful to Greggs for providing opportunities. Economists refer to McJobs. Post Brexit we need an equivalent ..sausage-jobs?)

dillydallyXX · 03/01/2019 16:19

If anyone is on Twitter, let's try to pin Madigan down.

Who is "they"? Did Madigan speak to somebody from York? Who? What position do they hold? From what department?

ClaraMatilda · 03/01/2019 16:21

LM is very fragile and seems to crumple under the weight of any kind of teasing or disagreement. Heaven knows how they will survive in the rough-and-tumble world of grown-up politics.

Yes, and LM wants to be a politician - and even Prime Minister, apparently. I'm not sure how LM would cope other than by banning all satirists, cartoonists, comedians...

I think LM thinks the 'technically true' statements used in ridiculously misleading ways are somehow clever, when they're really the equivalent of a small child claiming 'no, I didn't eat two biscuits' and insisting it wasn't a lie when caught out - because they ate three biscuits, not two.

nauticant · 03/01/2019 16:22

This is the modern Labour party in action, is it?

It seems to be the mode of many political parties these days. They struggle to establish general popular support in the centre-ground and go off setting out stalls for all kinds of fringe interests/groups and the general populations walks away in disgust. And so you end up with stuff like Trump.

Do not get hoovered into allowing this lunacy to take up any of your headspace or energy trying to work that one out. Flowers

LangCleg · 03/01/2019 16:42

This is the modern Labour party in action, is it?

Yes. I'm so fucking glad I left. I'll be spoiling ballot papers for the foreseeable and my political life will be about issues pertaining to women and overall service provisions local to me. The heartbreak of it all is that I expect little to no overlap with Labour, which can go fuck itself.

DeRigueurMortis · 03/01/2019 16:43

I disagree.

LM's online behaviours routinely display highly narcissistic traits that have a very defined M.O. of which the "crumpling" is a key part.

  1. See that twitter/Facebook likes seem to be dropping or not as active as they would like
  1. Make controversial online statement (facts/truth/validity not relevant)
  1. Wait to be called out on said statement
  1. Screenshot the "best" response of being called out
  1. "Crumple" ie Respond with a mix of faux outrage, poor me, narcissistic rage, feigned fragility and sometimes even a social media break (well actually more like a social media nap given 24 hours seems to be the longest LM can keep their fingers off the keyboard without the required self validation social media seems to provide)
  1. See those twitter/Facebook responses/likes go up and play to the crowd along the lines of it's hard but someone has to be this bloody heroic, stunning and brave - which is designed to generate more online "love"
  1. Feel satisfied at a job well done.....rince and repeat starting from step 1.
