Everyone’s favourite women’s officer at it again

New target: Dr Louise Moody at York University. Deaf, lesbian, gender critical and precariously employed junior academic. She makes an innocuous joke about LM’s announcement on twitter about ‘coming out’ as a lesbian (ie being heterosexual). Cue a swift complaint to York asking for Louise to be fired, insinuating that LM is a student there themselves. Followed by lots of toady support by mainly males asking for this person to be ‘dealt with’. Including a female academic called Dr Jo Grady who uses terf-blocker and thinks it’s really cool to throw a disabled lesbian who is precariously employed under the bus. She has also commanded York to deal with the situation.

This is getting out of hand. Solidarity with Louise. I hope you’re okay. I actually blame people like Dr Grady more than LM, who clearly has serious issues. But how you can publicly call for someone’s sacking for this when you know what academia is like and how difficult it is for women, POC and disabled people is breathtaking. This is a lesbian woman who takes issue with a heterosexual male appropriating her marginalised status. Same as POC would presumably take issue if a white man started talking about his struggles being trans-black.

My post has been deleted. I didn’t use male pronouns. Unless arsehole is male?

starcrossedseahorse · 03/01/2019 18:31

Yes I suppose that it is clear that MN do not think that TWAW otherwise they would be deleting for White and Huntley.

It is some consolation.

starcrossedseahorse · 03/01/2019 18:33

Sexnotgender can you be deleted for what might be considered abuse?

GerryblewuptheER · 03/01/2019 18:36

You can be deleted for someome else being confused as to who you were talking about on here these days. Even if they know the other person was wrong...Hmm

Sexnotgender · 03/01/2019 18:36

I think arsehole is a fair description of Madigan given how they behave.

AnyFucker · 03/01/2019 18:39

Lily Madigan is not a lesbian

Because lesbians are biologically female

starcrossedseahorse · 03/01/2019 18:43

Sexnotgender I completely agree.

welshgendercrit · 03/01/2019 18:44

If anyone is on Twitter, let's try to pin Madigan down.

I'd be happy to help, but unfortunately Madigan appears to use Terfblocker, so I was blocked before I even tried to interact. It is illuminating to follow threads like this and see what I'm missing. Hmm

mogtheexcellent · 03/01/2019 18:45

I am a former York student. I wonder if the vice chancellor is still the same woman as when I was there? She is a lesbian. Nice person as well.

starcrossedseahorse · 03/01/2019 18:52

AnyFucker interesting that your comment stands. Good.

star for how long ?

papayasareyum · 03/01/2019 19:03

a lesbian is a biological female, so LM cannot possibly be one. Confused

dillydallyXX · 03/01/2019 19:12

I'm sure most know this by now, but for anyone who doesn't, Madigan only started calling themselves a lesbian when they began to receive criticism from gay women during the Women's Officer in Kent time.

Madigan saw it as a way to provoke and needle, so suddenly they are a lesbian, and began to use the XX after their name, saying they thought it just meant kisses.

All Madigan wants to do is agitate and provoke and needle. A deeply disturbed individual whose family is appalled by them.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 03/01/2019 19:17

Madigan is a foul individual. Even if Madigan is not a well individual it does not excuse that individual's choices and behaviour.

As a gender critical academic I don’t know whether to be worried or appalled by the comments from students saying stuff like “I can’t believe there are gender critical people employed at universities”/ “these people should be sacked”. If you sacked all the gender-critical people in my dept there would be about 3 people left.... And haven’t they picked up any critical thinking skills? That York FemSoc tweet was so depressing too - so typical of the student response.

Funkyfunkybeat12 · 03/01/2019 19:31

I mean the whole ‘coming out’ tweet was obviously intended to provoke and goad. LM ‘came out’ ages ago, saying that ‘society expected me to be attracted to men but I am bucking the trend’ and has been in a relationship with a woman (or was in one) for a significant time. So why the fuck is LM now tweeting about coming out to their dad? It’s obviously done to wind people up, as is the new handle @lesbianlefty. So transparent.

And while I think LM has quite serious MH issues, this is by no means an excuse. This behaviour is awful and destructive.

I also feel like writing to the University and Colleges Union because Jo Grady holds a voted-for post there. She has blocked numerous academics through her use of terfblocker, including people who voted her into the position. She has also fanned the flames in terms of a pile-on on a precariously employed disabled woman and it’s disgusting that she should be able to do so while representing the UCU. There you go, Jo- I am depressed by someone’s behaviour too. This time, yours.

The vulnerability excuse can only go so far. An adult of acceptable mental capacity is responsible for their actions.

Sexnotgender · 03/01/2019 19:36

An adult of acceptable mental capacity is responsible for their actions.

Couldn’t agree more. If you have the mental capacity to be an officer for a political party you have the capacity to know that your behaviour is unacceptable in this situation.

Can’t have it both ways!

dillydallyXX · 03/01/2019 19:37

The whole "coming out to Dad" story was made up, though. Madigan monitors Mumsnet for mentions about them, and there was discussion that Madigan was similar to other repressed gay boys who become trans because it's easier to say to their masculine father (Madigan's father is a builder, a ladies man) that they are trans than being a gay guy.

So, suddenly, Madigan posted a story about coming out as a "lesbian" to their father.

starcrossedseahorse · 03/01/2019 19:38

God it's so pathetic.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 03/01/2019 19:46

Hey, Louise.

Just a quick note to say that you've got my support. (FWIW! But it's there.)

adultFemaleElf · 03/01/2019 20:06

Wow my first ever post deletion and I’ve been on Mumsnet for over a decade.

Quite the milestone.

I will rewrite it in correct-speak:

A male-born Labour women’s officer (or former, who knows) boasts about getting a woman (who happens to have a disability and is a lesbian) fired.
