Ha ha ha ha Grin

People are transphobes because they have a fetish.

Good one Ed.

GenderIsAPrison · 23/12/2018 21:30

Fetish? Projecting much!

SudocremeQueen · 23/12/2018 21:31

Censoring the press, if only we had history to look back on to see where that leads…

Stardustinmyeyes · 23/12/2018 21:31

Look in the mirror Mr Lord

HamiltonCork · 23/12/2018 21:33

What a tosser.

AornisHades · 23/12/2018 21:35

If he's writing in a personal capacity wouldn't it have been simpler to use unheaded paper? Or is he using his position to get his personal views more weight. Surely not.

ToeToToe · 23/12/2018 21:38

Posted without comment, except to say, I was blocked by Edward Lord on twitter for re-tweeting this - clearly factual and provable - therefore not libellous - tweet.

Did Edward Lord publicise this letter? Let's just put an end to freedom of the press now, shall we, Edward? Who else, historically speaking, did that, hmmmmm?

OlennasWimple · 23/12/2018 21:43

Yeah, um, no. Jog on Lord

arranbubonicplague · 23/12/2018 21:45

Just so I'm up-to-date, is there a preferred term for what those of us who are less woke might otherwise name censorship ? Or an attempt to suppress writers in a manner that feels comparable to the more repressive regimes?

feministfairy · 23/12/2018 21:46

Is Edward Lord writing on behalf of the City of London - as he's using their headed notepaper?

MsMcWoodle · 23/12/2018 21:47

Oh dear oh dear. Quite a fan of censorship, isn't he? Remember when he blocked everyone from responding to him about his ludicrous survey re removing women's spaces in the city and then said this:

Edward Lord asking the Sunday Times to censor Andrew Gilligan
Sexnotgender · 23/12/2018 21:47

Arsehole.

theOtherPamAyres · 23/12/2018 21:47

What a strange letter from Mr/Mx/Mrs Lord (Non-binary).

His/her only point is that Andrew Gilligan has written lots of articles.

So what?

S/he needed to outline why the articles were wrong/factually incorrect or not in the public interest. But s/he can't.

The accusation of 'transphobia' seems to have lost its power because Mr/Mrs Lord introduces a new concept - that people who write about trans matter must have a fetish. I bet the editor of the Times was shocked to hear that revelation. Or perhaps the Editor could see right through her/his desperation.

TimeLady · 23/12/2018 21:59

Ha ha, I bet that raised a snigger in the ST offices Grin

arranbubonicplague · 23/12/2018 22:07

Did someone post the letter on Twitter, OP?

WeRiseUp · 23/12/2018 22:07

Ken Plummer, of course, should be able to talk all sort of fucked up pedo shit though.

HomeStar · 23/12/2018 22:12

That "fetish" accusation is getting more common. I've seen them say all TERFs are "chasers." Then you read further and realise they've defined "chaser" in such a way that anyone who thinks trans women might be motivated by autogynephilia counts as a "chaser."

Edward Lord is the guy who's good friends with a member of Pedophile Information Exchange, isn't he? And partners with that person who thinks autistic women and northern women are less womanly than other women? I don't know what Andrew Gilligan wrote about him already but there must be plenty of material for a new article.

WeRiseUp · 23/12/2018 22:17

He also finds democracy as acted out by the London Assembly a tad inconvenient.

MsMcWoodle · 23/12/2018 22:22

What on earth is a 'chaser'?

HomeStar · 23/12/2018 22:34

Chaser= a man with a fetish for trans women.

MsMcWoodle · 23/12/2018 22:39

Thanks HomeStar. Gosh.

BillEllson · 24/12/2018 03:19

@ToeToToe Lord blocks anybody he disagrees with, but he has several Twitter accounts and checks up on those who criticise him. Sad

Edward Lord posted the letter on Twitter himself Smile

@theOtherPamAyres
Mr Gilligan has published several articles, but I think Mr Lord's real complaint is that only one mentions Mr Lord. If Mr Gilligan does start digging then Mr Lord might well regret writing the letter. Lord's vanity will be his downfall. Grin

@TimeLady Given that the letter is dated 23 December (Sunday), I doubt that the Sunday Times will see it until after Christmas. (If one is sending a letter by email is normal to say so on its face, but the letter only bears the ST's postal address.)

faintlyridiculous · 24/12/2018 07:07

It’s so attention seeking isn’t it? With a large dollop of virtue signalling.

I’m also blocked but had a peek at his twitter and saw that he hand delivered it to the ST offices but security wouldn’t take the letter - what with them not being the post room - so he’s being obnoxious about that too.

His vanity will be his downfall. Along with his denigration of women, in particular women who disagree with him.

It does seem like a lot of the people pushing the ideology are getting more ridiculous and over the top in their actions right now. I wonder why that might be...

misscockerspaniel · 24/12/2018 07:40

She/he/whatever has used City of London headed paper and put "written in a personal capacity". Is the aim to intimidate the ST? Hopefully, it will simply galvanise them to start digging.

HandsOffMyRights · 24/12/2018 07:51

Edward Lord is a trustee at the Leathersellers 'charity' which funds Mermaids. It's 'director?' Is a co Governor with Lord at the University of Nottingham.

There are lots of connections with the Masons.

Lord is a well connected individual. Isn't there another organisation that Bercow is involved with too?

It's all very murky. Lord is interconnected with lots of powerful men. It remunds me of PIE. There's something dark at the core of this.

I believe Andrew has a much bigger story there and if any journalist worth their salt is called to action by the threat of censorship then they'll do their homework.

Lord is also a member of the highest order.

Maybe he's mixing chasers up with paedophile hunters, who seek to expose those individuals who prey on children.
