Good news for people who don't believe gender non-conforming children should be told they're in the 'wrong' body, and may need a lifetime of drugs and/or surgery to 'fix' that.

I've done the second bit too. We really need to liaise better! Grin Pencils said she'd do the first bit.

Maybe I'll do a précis of the best bits Smile

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 19/12/2018 00:02

Good to have a few copies about. Thanks everyone

DandelionsAreNotLions · 19/12/2018 00:13

Thank you Hats off to Hands off for transcribing all that guff. It is basically propaganda, balderdash, piffle and lies; and if you don't nod along thousands of children will die.

One beautiful highlight was

"Jan: Please don’t put words in my mouth

No, I'm not, I'm putting words from your powerpoint. "

Oh my, wasn't that a delicious moment?

HandsOffMyRights · 19/12/2018 00:44

Sorry, I probably went rogue when I panicked the audio would be down. Note to self, check MN first!

Not done all the 2nd bit and there were some bits I couldn't decypher, so hoping you can provide a complete version.

I remember seeing a great one on here recently with comedy observations etc. Not sure it's my forte as my hand aches.

Comorbidities are where two or more conditions occur in the same person at the same time, and can muddy waters as to which condition is causing which symptom. It's often stated by trans people themselves that there is a high rate of mental illness in trans people, which they suggest is down to lack of understanding and acceptance. However, correlation should never be confused with causation in this manner. It may equally be that it's sheer coincidence or that mentally ill people are more likely to identify as trans.

@newtlover I looked to see if Ben Goldacre had said anything about this a while back as well.

Having read what he's written about e.g. homeopathy, vaccination, pharma trials, you'd think he'd rip this apart.

Gertygypsey · 19/12/2018 09:04

Can I just mention that the Charity Commission are the organisation that regulate the conduct of charities. If anyone has serious concerns about how a charity is operating, they should contact them: www.gov.uk/complain-about-charity

HandsOffMyRights · 19/12/2018 09:07

Thanks Foldy.

It chills me that the trainer talks about ensuring young people are healthy and undergo assessment before being referred yet so many girls with autism or eating disorders are being referred.

If they really cared, these children would get support. Yet CAHMs is dismissed in this audio.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/12/2018 09:13

I expect he is scared. I imagine there are a lot of people sitting on their hands waiting to see which way this all goes, and when the TRA dominos topple there will be a flurry of articles published saying how this was obviously a bad thing all along cowards

Imherefornow · 19/12/2018 09:22

@HandsOffMyRights @OrchidInTheSun
And Pencils

Hi so I was transcribing this too. But evidently you guys work way faster than I do! Transcribing is not my forteGrin

So can we collate what we have please? It will make for easier analysis and spare others from having to listen to the whole thing. I have a Google doc. I can grant you editing access or maybe just a dm and I can copy and paste to the document myself and then tidy it up a bit? I dunno... What's the best way to get this all together?

Theinconstantgardener · 19/12/2018 10:25

Thanks to all who transcribed. Its bad enough listening to the inarticulate nonsense the woman is spouting but when you see it all in stark black and white it's horrifying. Its a bit quieter than yesterday where I am just now so I will have a go at transcribing whilst I've got the chance.

Theinconstantgardener · 19/12/2018 10:40

i can only get the first half. Does anyone have a link to the second half please?

Theinconstantgardener · 19/12/2018 11:24

thanks crow

DadJoke · 19/12/2018 11:29

I think getting Ben Goldacre on this with his forensic, evidence-based approach is an excellent idea, though I can certainly understand any reluctance he might have to address the issue. Anyway, I've emailed him and I'll report if I get a response.

Melamin · 19/12/2018 11:36

I have just listened to the dimmer switch again How does it work? (no I don't want the transformers and circuits...….) - as you turn it up the light gets brighter until the light is on! Light is on a spectrum! (Think we have the wrong end of the stick here Hmm) Colour is on a spectrum (getting closer?) There are different shades of blue (Confused - lost cause )

How can you take anyone seriously for the next hour and a half after that?

Melamin · 19/12/2018 11:40

Ben G works a lot with Margaret McCartney, who does get it, so he knows who to go to which makes me wonder why he doesn't.

DadJoke · 19/12/2018 11:51

melamin there is a chilling effect because of the fear of being accused of being labelled a bigot, and with some exceptions, men don't have enough skin in the game to stick there heads up above the parapet. Maybe that's it.

I am not brave enough to say stuff in public, and as far as a lot of mumsnetters are concerned I am pretty much a TRA.

AngryAttackKittens · 19/12/2018 11:53

It's like listening to a drunk ramble. One assumes they wrote some of this training material in advance? I mean, I know it has to be a challenge when you're trying to prove things that aren't true, but still, surely they could at least aim for some sort of superficial coherence.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 19/12/2018 11:55

Pointing out to people Ian Huntly wants to be moved to a female prision normally is a good start, no one will agree with it and you can lead on to how Transexual rights have been hijacked.

All you need is confidence(no shortage of that!!!) and to truly feel it in your heart(no shortage of that if you google). Disney innit?

AngryAttackKittens · 19/12/2018 12:12

I wonder if in the trainer's own mind there are tiny birds that keep landing on her finger and tweeting adorably at her.

OrchidInTheSun · 19/12/2018 12:13

Imherefornow - sure! That's a good idea. If you DM me an email address, I'll send over what I've done. I need to have one final listen because I've got a couple of XX bits right near the end.

I think it might be quite useful to put it under headings too - do you think? Otherwise it is just a bit of a wall of text as she spouts her woo nonsense (bubble bubble bubble) for pages Grin

OrchidInTheSun · 19/12/2018 12:14

Oh and don't apologise HandsOffMyRights - good work! :)

Melamin · 19/12/2018 12:16

Yes, they are fluttering up and passing her the dimmer switch.
