GO Jane Garvey!

ToeToToe · 04/12/2018 10:21

FFS! Who is this woman on now - happily destroying women's competitive sport forever. Bloody hell.

I cannot believe my ears Angry

Threewheeler1 · 04/12/2018 10:21

Good, here's Nicola to talk sense.

Helmetbymidnight · 04/12/2018 10:21

Sports more important for trans people than other people? Wtaf.

borntobequiet · 04/12/2018 10:22

Transwomen report higher levels of mental health
Well jolly good.

incallthebloodytime · 04/12/2018 10:22

We're not talking about working out in a gym to help depression we are talking about competing!!!

LilyRed · 04/12/2018 10:22

I don't get much time at the moment either to listen to these debates, or post, but head desk ... this person is an XXXXXX and I am shouting at the radio!
Go Nic!!!

LikeDust · 04/12/2018 10:22

Oh right budge up women.

Gileswithachainsaw · 04/12/2018 10:22

She sounds utterly nuts.

Completely clueless. And actually didn't really answer the questions properly at all

cockBlocker · 04/12/2018 10:22

Has this woman ever taken part in any kind of sport at all ever? Or tried competing against men? Or seen a man's body before?

Threewheeler1 · 04/12/2018 10:23

At last.
Trans women have a male body, therefore have an advantage in sport.
Common sense.
Go on Nic.

BubonicBudgie · 04/12/2018 10:23

Yay go Nic

dianebrewster · 04/12/2018 10:24

Bloody hell. She's an academic!? She really comes over very poorly. Jane Garvey is doing a great job in incredulous questioning. Echoing the "WTF?" Of most listeners I'm guessing. Nic very clear - facts!

TimeLady · 04/12/2018 10:24

Oh stop it, you bigots on MN, you're making my well funded research sound like a ridiculous waste of money

incallthebloodytime · 04/12/2018 10:24

Makes me giggle how much they're going on that she isn't there not on purpose

C8H10N4O2 · 04/12/2018 10:24

Women don't out perform men because of psychological blocks? Nothing to do with muscle bulk in the male body.

This is just rubbish.

And as for saying "there is no evidence that its a problem" - in a climate where any academic producing the "wrong" answers can lose their funding after TRA lobbying it wouldn't surprise me. However surely some of the research into doping produces evidence on testosterone advantage.

BertBox · 04/12/2018 10:26

This is just so cut dried and OBVIOUS it’s farcical.

Threewheeler1 · 04/12/2018 10:26

Maybe someone should post some of those pics of the giant trans women lined up with their much smaller female team mates and opponents on the WH twitter page.
Just for a visual reminder.

Zeugma · 04/12/2018 10:27

I wish Dr Nic would mention the risk of physical harm to women - though she's making great points, so go her

PerfectPenquins · 04/12/2018 10:27

So women just need to push themselves harder and they will be able to compete with men? Wtf so what woman are just being lazy and not pushing themselves so settling at the moment? Sod off

BubonicBudgie · 04/12/2018 10:27

And what about sports scholarships which are now going to TW ?

GlomOfNit · 04/12/2018 10:28

Wow. How on earth was Dr Beth Handmaiden awarded her PhD? I've rarely heard such woolly thinking.

BreakingNew · 04/12/2018 10:28

Any parent of a girl is sports listing = Angry

Zeugma · 04/12/2018 10:28

Oh good, she has 👍

LilyRed · 04/12/2018 10:28

It's not rocket science, is it?

Yes we are talking about the possibility of EVERY sportswoman losing out to a transwoman. EVERY single woman in sports or ever to be in sports ...
