I'm literally boggling. Honest to Betsy, if my kids were still little, I'd seriously be thinking of home educating. Teachers without even a basic understanding of safeguarding.

Layla is very much coming at this from how the children are bullying each other and how children feel unable to talk to their parents about these things - which is fine and I understand what she means.

She's missing a different POV within safeguarding. Of coercion, grooming and of course actual sex based protections.

Layla so far coming across more reasonably that the other pro trans interviewees. But then she is not a man pretending to be a woman.

Layla says you can't make someone trans.

They just are, therefore children should be supported in their wish.

Layla has a holistic head on, not medical or wider psychological head.

Jane should ask why the majority of kids coming out as trans are female whilst the majority of adults coming out as trans are men.

Doesn't anyone have even a smidgeon of common sense? I don't see how a child can possibly have a trans identity at school and go back to their birth sex at home and that stay secret for long. Do they change clothes when they get to school? Parents will hear on the grapevine sooner or later so it is surely better that the discussion is had at School before they hear via another route.

Plus, believe me, mainstream teaching if a few asd children really means you don't know much about autism. (And I can say that as a previous mainstream now sen teacher)
