I think the likelihood of the split being 50% cismen and 50% transwomen is extremely unlikely. However, if that were the reality, I would say we had achieved our goal as it is the ‘women in finance charter’ and we would have 50% women on our board

community.monzo.com/t/an-update-on-the-women-in-finance-charter/52234

There seems to be one GC person on there, but they're being drowned out by the wokeness

Fuck sake. I really like this bank too Sad

Wow; that's disappointing. I'm an Alpha account holder there... I may have to rethink.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/11/2018 13:53

Real women in finance charter

Sorted.

LizzieSiddal · 20/11/2018 13:58

How disappointing, my son in law has just advised me to set up an account. I won’t be after that incredible stupid statement.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 20/11/2018 14:01

It's a shame, because in other ways they are a really good bank.

Good reply from 'rosie'

'Transwomen are transwomen and I very much welcome Monzo making efforts to include transpeople in their senior structures.
Women face their own structural challenges that are not the same as those that transwomen face, and it is important that Monzo tackles that as a separate issue.'

Quite so. Women are subject to structural sexism because of biology. Trans people (TW and TM) may well face other issues, but it serves no one (except, cynically, men) to conflate these groups and the solutions required to address inequities.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 20/11/2018 14:07

Well, fuck them, really.

It's amazing how quickly so many people including women are deciding that a world with no cunty people in positions of visibility, and all taken 50% men 50% those who ID as women will be job done for womens rights.

It's completely bonkers.

Didn't someone from a political party say the same about parliament, at a womens meeting? That they'd celebrate it as a triumph for women if there were literally no cunty people in parliament. I mean presumably they were in parliament, so would be happy to hand over to a pips bunce type and see them as better qualifieid to work for women?

NothingOnTellyAgain · 20/11/2018 14:08

Has anyone ever even thought to suggest > how about 50% women 50% transmen?

No?

Why not. (Rhetorical)

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 20/11/2018 14:10

Maybe they should aim for 50% transwomen, and 50% transmen, that would keep everyone happy?

The permanence and unchallengable / unchangable fact of male dominance in these positions globally is shown up as fact.

No-one even thinks to suggest that it could be all cunty people and no dicky. That would be ridiculous, right?

All dicky people = the world has set itself to rights.

I like that NothingonTelly

Of course men would be fine if this happened everywhere because they’re being represented so yeah all ok

Yep, Sal Brinton of lib dems and others were well on board with this:

I know of a financial services company that had a number of senior male executives transition late in career - it's not at all unlikely that all self-identifying women on a board might have been born male.

Someone from the community has hidden rosies comments... you have to click to get through to them.

I think they are polite and perfectly reasonable. Crazy

I guess that if you believe TWAW then such heresy must be hidden as it is literal violence

OP posts:
LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/11/2018 17:45

So they don’t want more women but more trans women? Ohhhh. How very, er, —fucking stupid right on— progressive of them.

So they don’t really want more women in the board room.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 20/11/2018 17:48

They do want more women. They just aren't fussed if they are cunty or dickish...

OP posts:
NothingOnTellyAgain · 20/11/2018 17:49

well no exactly

many men believe that women have equality & there is no systemic discrimination / oppression and basically have a total inabilty to listen to women when we tell about how life is for us / believe us
many see that any issues we have are down to our "choices" which are in turn driven by our feminine minds and souls

therefore if you have TW on the board they can cover off the woman stuff (feminine mind / soul) but while subconsioualy seeing them as male and therefore rational and worthy of being listened to and also the sort of people they are happy to spend time with (because men tend to prefer male company and zero men actually see TW as women)

it''s all quite obvious tbh

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/11/2018 17:51

Maybe they just want to cut the salary bill with all those underpaid ‘women’

NothingOnTellyAgain · 20/11/2018 17:55

hahahaha somehow don't think it will work that way!

NibblyPig · 20/11/2018 19:08

So, I have a Monzo account, although I'm not sure I'll be keeping it.

My post was removed. I'm beyond livid. Angry

Monzo reply:

Just messaging to say that I’ve removed some your post in the Women in Finance Charter thread, as it breaks our Code of Conduct. In particular, we feel that your comment about “natal women” (as distinct from trans women) would cause trans wome to feel excluded on the basis of their gender identity. Our position is that trans women are women. Of course trans women face distinct issues related to being trans, but that’s true of many subcategories of female experience (differing across categories like race, class, being able-bodied, and so on). We want everyone to feel welcome on the forum, and we’re glad to have you contributing provided you’re able to respect the Code of Conduct

What a response, accusing you of wrong think

ErrolTheDragon · 20/11/2018 19:16

Transwomen are excluded from the category 'woman' by being male. They may have a feminine 'gender identity' but they aren't a 'subcategory of female experience'.
