Monzo bank - Women in Finance Charter

I think the likelihood of the split being 50% cismen and 50% transwomen is extremely unlikely. However, if that were the reality, I would say we had achieved our goal as it is the ‘women in finance charter’ and we would have 50% women on our board

community.monzo.com/t/an-update-on-the-women-in-finance-charter/52234

There seems to be one GC person on there, but they're being drowned out by the wokeness

Fuck sake. I really like this bank too Sad

Oh wow so they are really red hot on this

Transwomen are a subcategory of women like disbaled women black women (!)
Transwomen exerpience distinct oppression like disabled women black women (but women who don't have these characteristics are lucky luck bastard oppressors who are never ever held back or experience any difficulties due to being female)
Transwomen are women so they would consider their equalities remit satisfied if their board were 50% men 50% transwomen

OK well fuck them. Again Grin

It’s probably just some tit in charge of the social media account. There seems to be an epidemic of arses spouting crap these days.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/11/2018 19:18

It’s tempting to try to open accounts for me, DH and DS and try and mess with them.

This is hilarious

They have a "tone of voice" section

monzo.com/tone-of-voice/

little extract

"And if the way we communicate confuses, frustrates or scares them, we can lose their hard-earned trust in seconds. It’s especially important when we’re dealing with sensitive subjects, difficult topics or technical stuff. Those are the moments of truth when people will decide if we’re really transparent, and if we really have their best interests at heart.

So every word matters. Every word is a chance for us to make a connection with someone, go beyond what they’d expect from a bank and brighten their day. (If that sounds unrealistic, check out some of the customer feedback we get to see the difference we make when we get it right.)

This isn’t a set of rules 📜
Good writing is empathetic. Thinking carefully about the people you’re writing to, and understanding how they feel and what they need from us, shouldn’t feel like a tick-box exercise – it should be something you put thought into every time. So if you’ve got a really good reason to veer off the path we’ve put here, go for it."

Telling women to get fucked seems to be a bit of a fail on the old empathetic tone of voice front doesn't it Grin

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/11/2018 19:20

Who are these tits? Let’s have a wee dig shall we... I’ll be back (as Mary Schwartzenegger used to say)

NothingOnTellyAgain · 20/11/2018 19:22

Note:

MONZO do NOT have womens best interests at heart.
They do not recognise the 50% of the worlds population that are born to the cry of "it's a girl" and live (or sometimes don't live) with all that comes with that as a distinct group in themselves.
They say there is no deefinition of women past twaw > anyone is a woman if they say they are one
There is no need for words to describe cunty people the world over
They are... irrelevant? Not worthy of a category of their own?

Awesome job MONZO!

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/11/2018 19:25

^Digital bank Monzo’s losses more than quadrupled in its first year with a full licence, highlighting the challenges facing the wave of mobile phone app-based lenders trying to take on established groups.

Overall losses in the 12 months to February jumped to £33.1m from £7.9m as figures for its past financial year show customer deposits were £71.2m — equivalent to less than £150 per account.^ this was in June in the FT. But by August the Gruniard was trumpeting that it was worth $1.5bn.

Interesting. And it has bright link cards (so obviously trying to appeal to the laydeez)

NibblyPig · 20/11/2018 19:29

Anybody want to ask the ceo a question?

StarsAndWater · 20/11/2018 19:32

Wow. I've only become aware of them recently but certainly won't be applying for an account now. Blatant misogyny.

StarsAndWater · 20/11/2018 19:39

Can't help but read this and think of that Private Eye cartoon where the chairman looks at an all male board and says 'It would be really helpful if some of you identified as women'.
It's that farcical.
So how many are women?

Stilettosandan0venglove · 20/11/2018 19:49

Every word is a chance for us to make a connection with someone, go beyond what they’d expect from a bank

Wow, you've done that alright, Monzo. I will take my pin money elsewhere.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 20/11/2018 19:55

It’s tempting to try to open accounts for me, DH and DS and try and mess with them.

They don't do titles ...

OP posts:
LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/11/2018 20:07

What if I want one. Really really want one. Or if my first name is ‘Mr’?

NothingOnTellyAgain · 20/11/2018 20:17

That is so lol

X% of our board identify as women is utterly meaningless.

I would be willing to bet most of them are 0% cunty.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 20/11/2018 20:19

They could literally say as per private eye
OK can you tick this box today
No you don't need to change how you dress how you act what your name is anything
Oh but you can use the women's changing area if you want (many offices have changing for cyclists etc)
And also you can talk bollocks about the reasons cunty people don't get anywhere in our org, and no-one can accuse you of "mansplaining"

Is just about the size of it?

Wrathofjurgenklop · 20/11/2018 20:23

I really want to enquire about an account
with all my worldly finances just to see what happens.
Then say no.

Wrathofjurgenklop · 20/11/2018 20:31

Nothing, Lordfekko and all,
You're all on fire today Grin

Anlaf · 20/11/2018 21:00

29% of our board identify as women
20% of our executive committee identify as women

Surprisingly hard to find their board on their site. Making HUGE assumptions on the gender identity of the people on the co house directors list:

In the blue corner:

Tom
Timothy
Gary
Miles
Keith

In the "identify as women" corner
Eileen Burbridge
Amy Kirk

beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/09446231/officers

2/7 is about the 29% they quote

I CBA looking to see which people are on exec commitee but I assume the 20% is ONE person "who identifies as a woman" out of FIVE people who just happen to be 80% blokes

Anlaf · 20/11/2018 21:03

When we signed the Charter last year, we committed to doing the following:

Having one member of the senior executive team who is responsible and accountable for gender diversity and inclusion

I wonder what the odds are that ONE person is the same ONE person who "identifies as women"

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/11/2018 21:15

I’d say - pretty high. And they just let them get on with it.

Nothing worse than a snortery, blubbering bloke wailing like a good ‘un because someone didn’t call them ‘ma'am’.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 20/11/2018 21:35

I just looked up the actual charter thing - it is a government initiative and it actually sounds like it is trying to help women.

^Too few women in financial services get to the top. Plenty of young female graduates join financial
services firms, but these women do not progress beyond the mid-tier or they leave the sector entirely.
As employees rise in seniority, unequal gender representation in financial services worsens. Just 14%
of executive positions are held by women.^

^The government asked Jayne-Anne Gadhia, former CEO of Virgin Money, to investigate this further by
leading a review into the representation of women in senior management in financial services which
specifically targets the talent pipeline at the executive population below board level. This work
complements the government’s wider programme of work to tackle gender inequality and support
women in the workplace.^

OP posts:
LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/11/2018 21:39

Oh women don’t progress. Well, they just need to grow a pair then - literally. So what’s where I went wrong...

fufulina · 20/11/2018 21:56

God this is depressing tonight. That Monzo thread. FFS.

adulthumanandtired · 20/11/2018 22:29

The WIFC is a good thing.
Banks miss the point of it if they don’t seek to increase the representation of 51% of the population amongst their staff, i.e, those born female, and instead settle on gender identity.

Monzo belongs with Ocado et al.

TheHarpySings · 20/11/2018 23:25

I’d encourage everyone annoyed with this to take out a Monzo account.

It’s really easy to apply and you don’t have to put any actually money in it.

They will have to send you a welcome pack with a bank card which will cost them money.

Then close account and delete app.
