Thank you for posting the original tweet Kat.

Needmoresleep · 20/11/2018 10:44

Thanks aroundanothercorner.

There is something spooky about the 'soon we will have mug shots of them all'

I wonder who else might be in the rogues gallery.

The copy list is curious. Not obviously the nutty end of the TRA spectrum.

aroundanothercorner · 20/11/2018 11:11

The copy list stems from this tweet

Interesting to follow the link & consider the $$. Sad how many of the bios say supporting children to transition.

"soon we will have mug shots of them all and what they have done on the internet"

No, not sinister at all...

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/11/2018 13:10

What parents who have sterilised their kids? Their mugs are all over the media anyway because they are so bloody pleased with themselves for.

Mumfun · 20/11/2018 15:18

Aroundanothercorner. in that gdaworkinggroup document we find:

Esben Esther is a father of two, grandparent of five and presents as transgifted. Grin

hellandhairnets · 20/11/2018 15:34

*"soon we will have mug shots of them all and what they have done on the internet"

No, not sinister at all...*

Indeed. Very Pol Pot.

aroundanothercorner · 20/11/2018 15:40

Transgifted definition from the urban dictionary: ...It is a positive term and can be applied to anyone who enjoys to challenge cis gendered normatives, whether it be in frame of mind, in presentation...

Does this mean anyone who challenges gender labels is gifted? I fancy being gift tagged and not labelled cis.

kesstrel · 20/11/2018 16:23

God, she really is pushing the West=bad and East=enlightened feminist paradise isn't she?

It's not even that - it's just mindless post-modernism: you have to throw a bit of "anti-colonialism" into the mix wherever you can.

All these references to "in the west" end up insulting to non-western cultures by representing them as a monolith, as though we're the only ones who think sex is binary. In reality, there are a handful of cultures who allow a third gender (although I bet they mostly don't think of them as a third sex), and the rest see sex as binary just as we do - and their scientists most certainly do.

waxy1 · 20/11/2018 16:40

I think we’re going through a crazy period, like tulipomania.

borntobequiet · 20/11/2018 16:47

I never heard of transgifted, but I would have thought it meant identifying as gifted. I could do that.

Italiangreyhound · 20/11/2018 16:55

Oh Sally was bloody annoying. What a load of annoying rubbish!

welshbookworm · 20/11/2018 17:00

I've just checked back to look at the latest comments and she's deleted the thread.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/11/2018 17:02

I think I’m transgifted. I like to think that I am very gifted. I suspect that I’m. It but going to brazen it out regardless - death to anyone who suggests otherwise.

Needmoresleep · 20/11/2018 17:29
  1. I wonder what the equality director at the GMC has done to merit such a spiteful post. Someone has referred something (grant application, Harrop complaint, Mermaid endorsement etc) to Equalities for a policy line and she has benn insufficiently pro-trans?
  1. Are Sally et al (ie the people tagged on the tweet) trying to set up a British network of British academics and professionals working in the trans field to mirror the US GRA group? A one-stop shop for research and grant money?
  1. Do they have a hit list beyond the GMC Equality Director? (Certainly one step up from being on TERFblocker.) My assumptionis that Lisa M was at the top of the list. Somewhere there is a nasty tweet from Helen minnymum last week about Lisa withdrawing from twitter.
Needmoresleep · 20/11/2018 17:30

Fekko, you are not transgifted. Just over-promoted!

Bittermints · 20/11/2018 17:35

waxy1, I've been thinking that too. Strange, strange times.

Ereshkigal · 20/11/2018 17:59

I think we’re going through a crazy period, like tulipomania.

I agree.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/11/2018 18:00

Or ra-ra skirts. Or ripped jeans (is it over yet?)

I think we’re going through a crazy period, like tulipomania.

Definitely.
I am also looking forward to reading decent academic books about the causes. The internet is obviously a massive factor but it will be interesting if there are things we haven't thought of.

aroundanothercorner · 20/11/2018 20:00

Fekko, you are not transgifted. Just over-promoted!
