I haven’t been following OJ’s defence of Jeremy Corbyn’s antisemitism but his threat to sue if Joe Maugham doesn’t pay £250 to both Live Not Hate and Jewdas because of criticisms Maugham made about Jones looks like extortion to me.

LOJ has a rather inflated sense of how own importance.

And yes, it looks like extortion.

It looks like he's hoping he will back down. I think JM has already called his bluff and told him to take it to court. All the LOJ sycophants think it's in the bag.

How exciting! I'd never have the nerve to take on a QC in this way! OJ is one of the few Tra 's who hasn't blocked me, so hopefully can enjoy watching it unfold!

I don't understand this thing of 'pay X to [organisation I choose]', but I've come across it in some other contexts as well. How can someone be compelled to give money to an organisation they do not necessarily support? I understand fines imposed by courts to be paid either to the state or to a victim/other party to the case, but I don't understand the involvement of a 3rd party org. It would make more sense to me for OJ to demand money which he could then choose to donate to whatever he chose, but not for OJ to demand JM pay a third person. There are financial mechanisms for transferable bills of exchanges and the like, but there is no debt formed from JM to OJ just because OJ alleges he's been the victim of defamation.

It's just virtue signalling. OJ is saying "look, I support Jewdas and Hope not Hate, ergo you're wrong."

I hope he gets hounded out of journalism and ends up as TV the critic for Take A Break.
