Sarahjconnor

Several of the leapt to their feet and screamed ‘man’ ‘that’s a man’.

As if women - who've spent so many years watching out for danger - can't glance at an outline and immediately identify the sex of a person.

TeenTimesTwo · 19/10/2018 07:51

Hussain was quoting the NZ academic.

Janleverton · 19/10/2018 07:51

I think she was quoting the academic from NZ.

TimeLady · 19/10/2018 07:52

Rod Liddle on Rachel in The Spectator

Pretty scathing, as you'd expect.

And yet this narcissistic idiot’s fragile sensibilities are totally indulged by the authorities, infuriating his female competitors and making a mockery of the sport. How did we get to this stage, where a shrill but microscopically tiny percentage of the population get to have things their way, to the detriment of everybody else?

Juells Well it works on radio if their voice sounds like a woman. I've just been looking at photos of the cyclist and, yeah, she looks like a man (physique is very obvious is cycling clothes!).

LizzieSiddal · 19/10/2018 07:55

The interviewer is Martha.

Rachel is on Twitter.
”The BBC interview was the most slanted I've done yet. I thought I was speaking to Alex Jones for a moment. Alison Heather hasn't published anything on transgender athletes. She's written a scientifically unfounded blogpost. She has not done peer-reviewed research. #FactsMatter”

Facts matter apparently Grin mind you, only if they are facts which don’t reference the fact you were born male.

Iused2BanOptimist · 19/10/2018 07:57

Stupid sophistry and playing word games about being born a man. Ok. MALE born for future reference. And while they are at it I wish Radio 4 would cut the crap about cis women. If they must then let's have born female and born male for the avoidance of confusion.

TeenTimesTwo · 19/10/2018 07:58

Mind you, if that was the most slanted interview they have done, just think how awful the others must have been. Shock
I wonder if they thought they were just going to be congratulated for overcoming so much to be female champion?

WomanAndProud · 19/10/2018 07:59

I think it'll be on just after 8am

WomanAndProud · 19/10/2018 07:59

The bigger segment

JuneOsbourne · 19/10/2018 08:01

Hilariously, Rachel is tweeting about this with the hashtag #FactsMatter. Pahahaha!

Iused2BanOptimist · 19/10/2018 08:01

Teentimes
Nicely done if he was reeled in unawares.

VenusInSpurs · 19/10/2018 08:02

Everyone needs to write to their MP, TODAY.

Stonewall and Amnesty also have ‘easy submit ‘ buttons to the consultation and they have much vaster networks of active members.

The consultation is deeply flawed, it has been constructed within the framework of Gvt Advisors, Sionewall, and is dishonest. In tne blurb they say single sex or sex separated spaces will be protected. What they mean by that is that a self id’d Transwomen is a woman, therefore she accesses the protected space as a woman....therefore the single sex space is protected!!!

This is the tautological ‘logic’ we are being subjected to, and in offering that assertion the consultation is from the position that the act has already been passed.

Please contact your MP. Otherwise they may just suck up the Kool Aid that is the Stonewall /Amnesty cult.

Sarahjconnor - yep, my 5 yr spotted the unsayable pretty sharpish too ..

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 19/10/2018 08:05

Facts matter. With every passing day, the more certain I become that there is a special TRA dictionary where the word Irony has been removed.

Bonions · 19/10/2018 08:05

Woman who came third against McKinnon has tweeted a thread that concludes with this

jen wagner-assali
@jkwagnermd
I apologize,
@rachelvmckinnon
, for not properly congratulating you on race day. I hope you accept it a few days late. Congratulations and enjoy your off-season. Thanks, everyone, for reading. --Jennifer

mobile.twitter.com/jkwagnermd/status/1052926556140646400

And she later tweeted this:

jen wagner-assali
@jkwagnermd
For those of you who think I have "folded" I have not. There's a group of us working on getting the rules changed but we are going to fight it offline, not in the name-calling angry world of social media. I'm choosing to move on in a positive way.

TimeLady · 19/10/2018 08:05

Why on earth Rachel agreed to the interview is beyond me; did Rachel honestly expect a sympathetic hearing?

If anything is going to peak trans the nation over breakfast and reach the parts so far untouched by this, it's perceived cheating at sport.

MinecraftHolmes · 19/10/2018 08:06

Facts do matter. I saw an "ally" in the comments of a Simple Politics post on the consultation say that "science is on our side". Presumably with a straight face.

WomanAndProud · 19/10/2018 08:06

My bullshit-o-metre is warming up for the next section. I don't want to to break.

Bonions · 19/10/2018 08:08

Oh just seen the McKinnon has a response which includes referring Jen to the Olympic rules for harassment

mobile.twitter.com/rachelvmckinnon/status/1053089859894689793

nauticant · 19/10/2018 08:08

For me, the stand-out exchange in the interview was McKinnon being asked about the third placed competitor (Jennifer Wagner-Assali) saying "it's not fair" and responding that in the past 12 times they'd competed Wagner-Assali had won 10 times. In other words McKinnon was claiming sour grapes.

The reality is the Wagner-Assali is a top-level woman cyclist and McKinnon was only a mediocre one when competing against men. Wagner-Assali's point is that it's not fair to be beaten by someone who is a mediocre cyclist. McKinnon's point is entitlement and narcissism.

scepticalwoman · 19/10/2018 08:09

Grin This thread. And their twitter threads are a riot with people repeatedly pointing out the "unmentionable" - that they're cheating women because...self censors.......
Unbelievable.

WomanAndProud · 19/10/2018 08:12

Oh for goodness sake. The main spot has gone to bloody Brexshit. The backstop will still be an issue on Monday. The consultation ends today.

ZuttZeVootEeVro · 19/10/2018 08:13

The reality is the Wagner-Assali is a top-level woman cyclist and McKinnon was only a mediocre one when competing against men.

Becoming trans does seem to open up a lot of opportunities for mediocre men.
