Also did not know this (sorry for spamming thread with McKinnon’s feed)

Dr. Rachel McKinnon
@rachelvmckinnon
Sarah Fader beat me in the 500m TT on Wednesday by a considerable margin (I came 4th) AND she qualified faster than me (breaking the world record) in the 200m sprint qualifying. But she withdrew in protest saying it's 'not fair'? She beat me both times.

Bonions · 19/10/2018 08:14

Go Sarah and Jen, for taking a stand

nauticant · 19/10/2018 08:18

Blimey at:

twitter.com/rachelvmckinnon/status/1053089859894689793

The interview left me with with a strong impression of stereotypical male having a deep seated anger about being thwarted, especially by a woman, but that twitter whining makes him look like your average DARVO-using abusive male.

At least Jennifer Wagner-Assali, having taken the high ground, has now learned in stark terms that nothing she could ever do would appease McKinnon's narcissism.

ParentsOfSummer · 19/10/2018 08:18

Facts matter apparently Grin mind you, only if they are facts which don’t reference the fact you were born male

Too true... Let's rename them #FxCTS to be inclusive to both facts and delusions, and to show that truth is just a social construct that can't be simply defined to exclude lies and falsities. If anyone disagrees they are delusionophobic and a whole bunch of fxctual blog posts are going to self-edit or delete themselves in response!

You are a slow learner, Winston."
"How can I help it? How can I help but see what is in front of my eyes? Two and two are four."
"Sometimes, Winston. Sometimes they are five. Sometimes they are three. Sometimes they are all of them at once. You must try harder. It is not easy to become sane.

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 19/10/2018 08:19

McKinnon is not a scientist. McKinnon researches and lectures in philosophy (god help us). Pinned tweet says 'I'm an internationally recognized expert on the science and ethics of transgender inclusion in sport.' Hmm

MsJeminaPuddleduck · 19/10/2018 08:20

Zutze - being trans definitely does open up new opportunities for mediocre men.

Aimee C, Lily M - totally unqualified to be deputy Green Party leader (zero knowledge of environmental policy and def no knowledge/ interest in women's issues respectively) but look how they were lauded.

It's hard to imagine young women who were similarly unqualified and temperamentally suited being parachuted into those roles

VickyEadie · 19/10/2018 08:23

I suppose that in LookingGlass TransLand, the only argument they can use is 'I don't have a male physiological advantage over women because I'm not male.'

And of course, the media, politicians and even sporting bodies will feel themselves obliged to agree.

Women's sport is dying.

TeenTimesTwo · 19/10/2018 08:23

Is there research happening regarding transgender issues and sport?
Or is it all banned due to 'transphobia'?
The cyclist after all could have quoted research on their side to counteract (if it exists)?

nauticant · 19/10/2018 08:23

Shall we make this the Today programme discussion thread for what's coming up shortly? (If it isn't misleading and biased I'll be very surprised.)

You know the world is a mad, mad place when sane, sensible women are agreeing with Katie Hopkins: " For clarity - this was the WOMENS world championships.

I repeat. Women’s.

Congratulations to the brave faces of silver & bronze. The world is gripped by a febrile madness."

Figural · 19/10/2018 08:33

Truly, the only reason this has all gotten as far as it has is because it hasn’t been given any daylight.

The reason this has gotten this far is because it's driven by the enormous profits to be made by big pharma in providing drugs and services to support, manipulate and exploit those genuinely in need, and the many more who entirely on their own initiative, think they are in need without exploration of alternative possibilities. Alternative possibilities in this context, includes reality.

I'm sure I saved a link that's very informative, I just need to find it, but am busy helping support a sick child's family.

JSmitty · 19/10/2018 08:36

Vey unfair to compare Mishal Hussain to Alex Jones.

....Matt Baker, perhaps.

The interviewer isn’t Michelle Hussain, it’s Martha Carney.

niceberg · 19/10/2018 08:41

Have they gone back to the issue already? If so does anyone know what time it was?

nauticant · 19/10/2018 08:43

You're doing good work here LizzieSiddal but you're trying to turn back the tide.

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 19/10/2018 08:47

Why are the delusional being allowed to control the narrative, it’s insane.

MoltenLasagne · 19/10/2018 08:52

I have a suspicion someone working at the BBC is using the pro-trans agenda to let them hang themselves with their own rope. How else do we explain Aimee Challenor being on Newsnight in all hxx feminine glory, followed by this morning's celebration of the not-at-all-a-dirty-cheat Rachel McKinnon winning the women's world championships?

Show people what's really being asked and they'll realise why we're pissed off.

nauticant · 19/10/2018 08:53

You haven't missed it niceberg. It looks like it's going to be right at the end of the programme. On the last day of the consultation.

As I wrote on another thread:

The BBC's five public purposes are set out by the Royal Charter and Agreement, the constitutional basis for the BBC as presented to Parliament.

These purposes outline the values the BBC holds when striving to achieve its mission to inform, educate and entertain.
To provide impartial news and information to help people understand and engage with the world around them.

LizzieSiddal · 19/10/2018 08:58

On now.

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 19/10/2018 08:58

I came across this on Facebook today. I think it speaks for itself.

Winterlight · 19/10/2018 08:59

So if Rachel ever has a serious cycling accident that requires life saving treatment how would she prefer the Doctor’s to treat her? As a male or a female?

Facts are important.

nauticant · 19/10/2018 09:00

Justine Webb: What about women's prisons?

Transman: If anything went wrong appropriate action would be taken.

That was utter shit.

borntobequiet · 19/10/2018 09:00

Christina Harrison very good. The other person, not so much.
Well done Christina.
But far too short.
