Stephen Whittle influential TRA asserts 'We know we have Labour behind this one, so will simply do our best to get them elected' & Corbyn seems to confirm this at Pink News

Yesterday on a thread condemning Stephen Whittle's use of predicted suicide, he joined and commented confidently:

In the end we will pull ourselves together and continue the campaigning – as we have always done. We know we have Labour behind this one, so will simply do our best to get them elected. As I tell the community “we have always lost more battles than we have won, but we only ever need to win the big one”.

I hope that clarifies matters.

Last night at Pink News party, Jeremy Corbyn apparently confirmed Whittle's belief:
'PinkNews Awards 2018: Jeremy Corbyn vows support for transgender reforms'
by Nick Duffy
(extract)
"Speaking about transgender rights, he said: “We must speak up for the trans community, who today face shocking attacks in the media—just as lesbian and gay people did in the 1980s—as well as now online, which can be a wonderful place but also a horrendous place where attacks take place.

“Labour supports reform of the Gender Recognition Act and Equality Act to allow for self-declaration. The deadline for Government’s consultation is on Friday.

“Trans people must be able to live full, healthy, and happy lives—being the person they want to be. Labour will stand up for their right to do so.”

Yesterday too, the Labour Party promoted Stonewall's guidance for the GRA:

DB: “Labour will champion the unheard.”

My eyes are rolling so hard that they’ve moved right down to where my testicles would be, if only I had some.

Melroses · 18/01/2019 19:35

Here's one Labour voter who won't be voting Labour again — and will do everything I can to persuade everyone I meet not to, either.

TBH, I doubt you will have a problem with that Grin and I say that coming from a family that has supported labour since its inception.

Jeremy Corbin is an enigma. He just keeps doing nothing. He keeps looking like he is going to do something...……..and nothing happens...……….he promises lots of nothing in a meaningful way and nothing results.

I keep hoping the rest of labour will do something with him.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/01/2019 19:42

He is hot air. All I hear from him is shooting down anything that anyone else says/does and not suggesting any real, actual solutions.

He is a whingey, humourless, charmless bully of a man with all the political accumen of a first year politics student.

vicviking · 18/01/2019 20:23

the corbyn years will be known as the lost years for labour....

shame as a genuine left of centre alternative to the tories would normally do well in these circustances

Vixxxy · 18/01/2019 20:43

Did Corbyn ever met with Linda Bellos as promised?

BlackForestCake · 18/01/2019 21:44

Corbyn has known Linda Bellos for years, surely.

R0wantrees · 18/01/2019 21:59

THe only MP who publically offered support to Linda Bellos and Venice Allen when they were taken to court by TRA Guiliana was David Davies Conservative MP (not the Brexit chap)

Was the conservative mp who threatened David Davies with police action ever named?

R0wantrees · 18/01/2019 22:56

Not that I'm aware of, would be very interesting to know who.

Having seen Angela Raynor interviewed about Brexit the other night, I think her views on TWAW etc are unsurprising. She emanates a lack of critical thinking and intellect. If Labour ever govern and we have the likes of Corbyn, Dawn Butler and her in positions of influence, the country will be well and truly fucked.

adultFemaleElf · 18/01/2019 23:15

(And I’m a former Labour voter that has never voted Tory.)

McDonnell might be a sceptic, but does he give enough of a shit about this issue to do anything about it? He'll be busy drafting plans for the post-Brexit utopia.
I too have wondered who is exerting the pressure, but reading Butler's speech and her inane comments about gender dysphoria being comparable to race, and what Raynor and others have said, maybe it really is just a case of nice but dim people scoring woke points. Corbyn would probably be protesting outside WPUK meetings if he was 50 years younger. I wouldn't consider voting Labour anyway as I don't believe their current policies are viable, but I appreciate the dilemma lifelong Labour supporters are facing. It's depressing.

FWRLurker · 19/01/2019 00:42

“the supposedly left parties across the West who are supposed to stand up for workers rights?”

Yeah in USA dems aren’t for workers and neither are republicans.

You see there just aren’t enough multimillionaire lobbiests in favor of workers rights... now why would that be eh? Hmm I wonder...

Jeremy Corbyn Opinion piece in Pink News today

(extract)

"In the past month, it has been reported that hate crimes against trans people are up 81%. This has been made worse by the Government’s delay in reforming the Gender Recognition Act, but it’s what happens when there is a concerted campaign by some in the media. That horrible anti-trans campaign mirrors attacks against gay men and lesbians in the 1980s. We must stand in solidarity with the trans community so they can live their lives with the dignity and respect they deserve." (continues)

What about the hate crimes against women, esp lesbians who can't even sit or chairs or have a drink anymore!

FloralBunting · 05/07/2019 23:38

Fuck off Corbyn. Fuck all the way off.

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 05/07/2019 23:43

We reached peak Corbyn some time ago

RedToothBrush · 06/07/2019 01:44

The Labour Party is currently under investigation for institutional racism.

Proposed reforms are not sensitive and compatible with ethnic and religious minorities.

So why are we surprised at the notion that the exceptionally privileged private school / Oxbridge going white men who control the party are dead into a policy which over looks women, ethnic and religious minorities, those who suffer from particular disabilities - namely autism and will have a disproportionate effect on the least economically and socially privileged in society?

They've lost all sight of equality advancement.

BBCBias001 · 06/07/2019 06:58

I haven’t seen any media anti trans campaigns. Has anyone? I have seen people concerned with female spaces, and unnecessary medication of children. Are those what he means, so you think? Or pointing out issues with some trans prisoners? I would love to hear an interview with him on this.

Lumene · 06/07/2019 07:09

I don’t think JC actually wants to get elected.

Would be interested to hear WPUK’s take on that editorial.

Also love to know what specific ‘anti trans’ articles JC means. But of course we’ll never find out because no one ever actually explains.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 06/07/2019 07:11

Whatever Corbyn, add anti-women to anti-semitism in your party then... where are labour in the polls now Grin you got no chance of winning mate

Micaela64 · 06/07/2019 10:40

Corbyn: "Let us not forget that it was the candidate to be Tory Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, who once described gay men as ‘tank-topped bum boys’"

Yes and he also voted to repeal Clause 28, YOU abstained. Actions speak louder than words.
