This tweet from the Labour Party is recommending people complete the GRA consultation following Stonewall's guidance. I'm astounded.

I have recently moved house and due to the boundary lines I have a new MP despite only moving a couple of miles. I am now Labour (Tory took the seat in the last election from Labour where I lived previously)

I absolutely will be sending an email especially as he is in the shadow cabinet.

Appalled doesn't even cover it.

Mumfun · 17/10/2018 16:05

They have been taken over by the Trans Thought Police. Never voting for them again in current incarnation!

user1981287 · 17/10/2018 16:05

they need to be sent this

Badstyley · 17/10/2018 16:09

I quit my membership a few weeks ago,so sadly, I can’t storm off in a huff again. Labour are a disgrace.Even the odious Tories aren’t plugging this shit. It’s sad that our best chance of getting this thrown out is a Tory revolt. I certainly won’t be voting Labour again, I’d never vote Tory, LDs and Greens are a travesty so I guess I won’t be blunting the polling station pencils with my cross for the foreseeable.

theOtherPamAyres · 17/10/2018 16:10

The people who need to be worried are the members of the local constituency parties.

Their whole purpose is to get candidates elected to Parliament and local councils. They are the volunteers who fundraise, deliver leaflets and turn up on the doorstep (in marginals and 'target to win' seats).

The Labour Party has chosen to be divisive. It has picked a side, instead of mediating in a balanced way.

I am going to email my Labour CLP, if the Labour Party fails to draw attention to the one-click FPFW submission, before the cut-off date.

Datun · 17/10/2018 16:10

I don't understand why they would do that. What's the upside?

The vast majority of the voting public don't agree with it.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 17/10/2018 16:11

Fuck off, Labour.

Especially you, Jeremy Corbyn.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 17/10/2018 16:12

Have you ever seen the old TV movie 'v'?

About alien lizards who come to earth peacefully and replace high ranking people to gain control of the planet?

Bonions · 17/10/2018 16:18

I've seen on twitter that there was a 3 line whip for labour to vote for the 2004 GRA - haven't verified this though

BrickByBrick · 17/10/2018 16:25

I'm not a member so no resigning possible but I can certainly mention that I am incoming and a voter at every election.

nellieellie · 17/10/2018 16:26

I am just so disappointed by this. Voted Labour my entire life, never again.

DaisyTwirl · 17/10/2018 16:28

Bonions - from wiki:
(it appears that Tories had a free vote, all other parties were whipped)

"...Support for the bill in the House of Commons was split broadly down party lines. At both the second and third readings (i.e. before and after amendments), all Labour Party, Liberal Democrat, Plaid Cymru and Scottish National Party votes were in favour of the bill; all Ulster Unionist and Democratic Unionist Party votes were against. Conservative Party MPs were split on the issue, and the party leadership did not issue a whip mandating MPs to take a particular stance on the bill, instead allowing its MPs a free vote.^ 25 Conservative MPs voted in favour and 22 against the bill at its second reading, and 20 voted in favour and 39 voted against the bill at its third reading. Less than half of the Conservative Party's 166 MPs participated in either vote.^.."

deepwatersolo · 17/10/2018 16:31

Identity politics will kill the party.

I agree. I thought Corbyn would not go along with it, just like Bernie Sanders tried to refocus on the economic message (but corporate Dems will have none of it and double down on identity politics, and it will end badly). Obviously not. Big mistake.

'Those skulls.... Are we the Baddies?' Love it. In the current case, one might point at the baseball bats...

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 17/10/2018 16:53

I just saw this on twitter. That’s it for me. Just underlined that I made the right descision leaving. I am seriously seriously worried about who I would vote for. There is nobody representing me and my family. Nobody. I’m getting bloody angry now, somone better come out fighting next week.

DeRigueurMortis · 17/10/2018 17:03

Utterly contemptible behaviour from the LP - but frankly unsurprising.

So much for John McDonnell MP on the live web chat listening to women and talking to WPUK...listening and then throughly discounting anything that was said presumably...

Floisme · 17/10/2018 17:18

Some good comments though.
I particularly liked, ’For the men, not the many’.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 17/10/2018 17:28

I'm actually starting to worry that this will create vigilantism and Trans people will get hurt because of it.

Serfisafleur · 17/10/2018 17:30

Must say the comments are practically all GC but unfortunately it has been shared by the borg hundreds of times so will be spreading through the woke chambers.
Anyone here on Twitter, hop on and do this poll in the replies...

What happens when men who are worried for themselves women and children take it upon themselves to police this?
Innocent people will be hurt.

Mumfun · 17/10/2018 17:32

Yes Floisme I can see that being used a lot on twitter in the future!

EverardDigby · 17/10/2018 17:38

On the other hand it might not play out too well with the Tories, which could be in our favour.

anotherGCacademic · 17/10/2018 19:05

I resigned from Labour today but told them I'd re-join if they changed their policy. I am a local activist and really like my local MP but this is too much. Beyond disgusted and angry about this.

TerfAndSerf · 17/10/2018 19:07

One of the local councillors in my area is a trans woman.

This sort of twee is not going to endear 'her'.

anotherGCacademic · 17/10/2018 20:12

Is that for real?
