Labour party promoting Stonewall

StuntNun · 17/10/2018 12:56

This tweet from the Labour Party is recommending people complete the GRA consultation following Stonewall's guidance. I'm astounded.

OP posts:
Floisme · 17/10/2018 12:59

If that’s the case then there is no way back for Labour as far as my vote is concerned.

NoRunAround · 17/10/2018 13:03

I resigned from Labour when Dawn Butler refused to go to "that meeting" Angry

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 17/10/2018 13:11

Meh, it's been rigged from the start, with any luck there will be another one.

mimivanne · 17/10/2018 13:23

Just emailed my Labour Party MP.
Again

Sarahconnor1 · 17/10/2018 13:25

No surprise there. It does reaffirm my position that I will no longer vote Labour because they lack any critical thinking skills and are happy to set back women's hard fought for rights.

KatherinaMinola · 17/10/2018 13:26

Yes I saw that. Nothing like an open, free consultation is there?

AbsintheFriends · 17/10/2018 13:32

Wow. Is this worth pursuing as another piece of evidence to show that the consultation process has been utterly corrupted and its integrity destroyed?

OvaHere · 17/10/2018 13:41

I'm shocked at how partisan that it for a political party when a government consultation is taking place.

Tweet and ask people to fill it in by all means but directing them to a lobby group on only one side of the debate is horrendous.

More evidence that the whole process has been biased and corrupt.

TwistedStitch · 17/10/2018 13:45

The comments under it are quite encouraging though. Quite a few men not supporting this now too.

VelvetGreen · 17/10/2018 13:47

This has really shocked me. My party membership has been in the balance for a while, but this might have just tipped the scales. I've stayed on the basis that if i'm in i'll have a voice, but now i'm feeling that remaining as a member is somehow making me complicit in this. I feel quite sick.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 17/10/2018 13:48

I think they key turning point was getting the average man on the street to realise it brokedown child safeguarding, the Girl Guides thing did that.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 17/10/2018 13:50

Too many people know what this is for it to go smoothly from now on.

Serfisafleur · 17/10/2018 13:52

I'm shocked and simply cannot believe it.
Please more ppl tweet the link to FPFW I'm not on Twitter.

booze2shoes · 17/10/2018 14:02

I left after the Telford Labour thing. This has just confirmed to me that I made the right choice. A lot of my friends in Labour are like, 'what, you're leaving over this?' incredulously. I think it's because people genuinely haven't thought about what it all means and how regressive it is. I am hoping that my leaving may at least spark a debate within my CLP. I'll still vote Labour. I'm very, very angry about this but there is no way I'm missing the opportunity to unseat Philip Davies and there are lots of other issues that matter too (that's not to minimise this.)

GivenuponHumanity · 17/10/2018 14:25

Why does this shock people? By allowing "self identifying" people to take roles within the party that were designed for the opposite sex their agenda was made very clear. I am so glad I am not a Labour voter

theOtherPamAyres · 17/10/2018 14:41

An own goal by Labour.

Every Labour politician must now prepare for recurring questions about their commitment to women, whether on televised Leaders' Debates, hustings, phone-ins, Question Time, at their surgeries or on the doorstep.

Every time the Labour party comes out with a promise to improve the lives of women, they will be laughed at.

Every Labour woman MP will have to justify why they took sides, and thought that handing over women's and girls' rights and safety to men was a good idea.

What a way to win the hearts and minds of voters, Labour Party. Were the corporate supporters of Stonewall standing on your neck or something?

Pywife2 · 17/10/2018 14:53

I sincerely hope my ex-Labour comrades are asked about self ID on the doorstep if there's another general election any time soon. They will have to get up to speed on it pretty quickly and it will serve them right for brushing it under the carpet and not facing up to what's going on.

The worst thing about this tweet, and the promotion of men onto women only shortlists, is that the leadership have bypassed the democratic processes within the party, and not consulted with their members on this.

If they can do it with this issue, they can do it with any. And if they can promote a Pomo load of crap like this, and not see how far from a socialist policy it is, then their political judgement on every issue is questionable.

Also, is John McDonnell a liar or doesn't he know what is going on in the party? Maybe he just thinks we're a bunch of stupid women and he can come on here and tell us anything, we won't notice. Like Corbyn before him, he promised women would be consulted.

gendercritter · 17/10/2018 15:02

This is pretty shocking. The opposition party pushing one particular agenda? How is the consultation going to be fair?

Oldstyle · 17/10/2018 15:09

If you have a Labour MP please please email them today - unless we contact them they will go on thinking they are on the right side of history. Here's my email in case it's useful as a template:

Today the Labour Party released a statement recommending that people complete the GRA consultation using Stonewall's one-click response. I am, of course fully supportive of trans equality. However, Stonewall is not lobbying for trans equality, but for ideological redefinitions of sex & gender, and of the word 'woman'. These matters may seem unimportant, but these changes would do huge damage to society and to women's right to single-sex spaces, services and opportunities. Stonewall have not only refused to discuss women's legitimate concerns but have stated that there is no conflict between trans rights and womens' rights. That is clearly not the case.
I am beyond distressed that the Labour Party have ignored our voices in this vitally important matter.
Please could you let me know your views as a matter of urgency.
Thank you.

KatVonGulag · 17/10/2018 15:43

I'm still a member. I'm so pissed off they've done this. They are fucking idiots to ignore what's going on here.

Identity politics will kill the party.

NoRunAround · 17/10/2018 15:52

Angela Rayner: I’m looking forward to the #pinknewsawards2018 tonight and I pledge my continuing support and action to my fellow sisters to face down and end the horrible discrimination #ComeOutForTransEquality 🌈

NoRunAround · 17/10/2018 15:53

I'm finished with Labour.

Sexnotgender · 17/10/2018 15:53

Labour Party are a bunch of cunts.

Would never vote for them.

NoRunAround · 17/10/2018 15:57

Think of the school children if she becomes SoS for Education

Bonions · 17/10/2018 15:58

The comments underneath it are cheering me up. So many people understanding what the issues are.
