Posie Parker Ate My Homework

I'm not surprised by the vitriolic ranting against Posie, in a way it just goes to show how she's getting under the trans rights activist's skin.

I've seen everything from:
POSIE PARKER SECRETLY GOT RID OF A PERSON'S GCSE COURSEWORK!!!!!!
To
SHE'S SO UGLY SHE LOOKS LIKE THATCHER !!!!!!!!!

The daily fail even did a "disrespectful women" slant to an article on her.

www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-6218395/amp/Blogger-billboard-defining-woman-adult-human-female-blasted-Morning-viewers. (If someone could tell me how to do clickly links I'd be grateful, I've even googled it, and still failed)

The heartening thing was the commenters on that post weren't having any of it.

I wish Posie was still here. Flowers for all the personal hate that's being sent her way. Debate her by all means, but its getting so low it's practically below ground.

OP, to be clear my post was directed at poster ChiaraRimini , not you.

StealthPolarBear · 30/09/2018 11:43

Just read this, brilliant :)

Datun · 30/09/2018 11:56

She's all kinds of wrong for TRAs.

She's not a dyed in the wool feminist, as far as I know. Her main issue is free speech. She's not schooled at all in the academic side of feminism. She doesn't litter her talks with words like oppression or patriarchy.

She is gender conforming in appearance, and is completely upfront about it. And incredibly gender nonconforming in her attitude.

Plus she's mighty purdy. Much as we may dislike it, books are often judged by their cover. But over this particular issue it seems to have an extra dimension. Transactivists can't deploy their usual misogyny of criticising a woman's looks in order to discredit what she says.

You can't call her a feminazi, you can't call her jealous, you'd have trouble criticising her looks, since looks are incredibly important to the trans ideology and it just comes across as bitter.

The best you can hope for is 'disrespectful'. And all that seems to have produced is scorn and laughter.

So yes, Posie Parker ate my homework, ruined my crops, turned my hair grey and has given the dog runs.

StealthPolarBear · 30/09/2018 11:57

She broke my laptop too with her gender critical nonsense. And killed my roses.

Biologifemini · 30/09/2018 12:03

She is photogenic too. It shouldn’t matter but she isn’t the stereotype of an old school feminist.
As a result I think a few more people are listening. It is like Graham Linehan and Brian cox being gender critical. You only need a few charismatic intellectuals on board and you have a much better chance of winning the argument.
And Phil Bunce also is great for everyone because of the absolute ridiculousness of the situation.

Juells · 30/09/2018 12:21

ChrysanthemumsAreMums

They are annoyed by her because she's attractive and she doesn't give a shit.

^^ this

She is photogenic too.
I was interested to see how different she looked on Sky and on This Morning. I felt that she'd been sabotaged by the make-up team on This Morning, that it had been deliberate, just like the ambush. Compare a still of her on Sky with a still of her on TM. They fucked her over with brown pasty stuff slathered on her face.

NewWomensMovement · 30/09/2018 12:24

I also love that although Posie is physically small, she is fearless.

She looks like the physical embodiment of speaking truth to power. IW towering over her but she sits up straight, unapologetic and lets the truth out.

So good.

NettleTea · 30/09/2018 12:39

Posie was absolutely knackered by the time the This Morning shennaneghans started, having been in Westminster by 9am to support Linda and Venice, and then for round 1 on Skynews at 4.30, she was still powering on doing the meeting in Manchester on Friday night, speaking to absolutely everyone who wanted to speak to her in the bar afterwards, and by the time I called it a day and went back to the hotel at 2am, was last seen heading off to a Karaoke bar.
At breakfast she mentioned the worms coming out of the woodwork from her past to bring up the 'Posie didnt queue on the slide aged 4' nonsense.
She is phenomenal, and I dont say that in a fan girl way (I know we were all referred to as 'Posie's skanks' yesterday by a section of the twittersphere, which was nice.
We dont all agree with everything she, or indeed any of us say. But we can talk, ask for context, and not demonise each other just because there are differences of opinion.
Like Venice, who is similarly villified, they both speak from the heart and wont say 'the right thing' to save other people's feelings, or to suit an agenda, if it means compromising what they believe.

for TV she is perfect. She is likeable, she wont allow herself to be talked over, she has confidence without appearing arrogant, and she is straight talking at a point where straight talking is needed. We have been kind and accommodating for too long, and thats why we are in the mess we are in.

redshoeblueshoe · 30/09/2018 12:49

I think she is fabulous. I'm old enough to be her mum so if I was being interviewed I know that it would just be said that I'm a clueless old fogey.
And we all know what many people think of women over fifty.
That's why they are angry.

LangCleg · 30/09/2018 12:51

Posie's skanks

HAHAHAHAHAHA. Deary me, they can't help themselves, can they?

Quite happy to be a Posie's skank.

FusionChefGeoff · 30/09/2018 12:53

Poise Parker is my new spirit animal.

Floisme · 30/09/2018 12:56

She's made me realise how often I start a post with 'Sorry'.

And I loved her saying women are allowed to be angry.

Datun · 30/09/2018 12:59

I'd skank for Posie.

Not sure what that even means, but it sounds suitably disrespectful.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 30/09/2018 13:01

i'm not sure i want to google skank

after trying to find the tran-i-am poem by hairy little poet you posted datun that got deleted and seeing what google turns up when you type tran and hairy into the search bar i'm not ready to embark on that sort of voyage again

Datun · 30/09/2018 13:04

Did you find it Bernard?

Here is the website. Some fantastic work.

PosiesSkank · 30/09/2018 13:05

I’ll take that hit for you Bernard.

maresedotes · 30/09/2018 13:35

I thought she was good on both Sky and This Morning, especially as the latter was 3 against 1. They expect her to be contrite and sorry for her views and to fawn over IW for being so brave. Well, sod it, she says what a lot of women think. Why shouldn’t we be angry - why do we have to apologise for that?!

silentcrow · 30/09/2018 13:37

Posie Parker really did eat my homework - there's absolutely loads of reading and writing I should have done for work this week and I spent two days watching her on the telly and discussing it here! Grin

I think we need to apply the right voices (and, sadly, faces) to the appropriate situation. Posie is great for a daytime tv audience; snappy talking points that wake you up. Helen/Agnes is fantastic in the papers, her story is one you want to comment on. Dr Nic is perfect for radio, with her calm, measured voice and devastating statistics. Dr Stock is brilliant at Twitter. The Man Friday crew - no-one else could have handled that. The Get The L Out group had the right and the gumption to do their thing - I couldn't have. Linda Bellos taking on the courts, with her amazing activist history. None of us here could speak for straight men like Glinner, gay men like Johnny Best, or for GC trans people like Miranda, Rose, Fionne and more. I could list loads of others.

The point is, this issue is a hydra - you deal with one point and another pops up. And the people we need to talk to are not homogeneous, they need and deserve to hear from their own communities about how stupid this proposed law change is and how it affects us all. So ALL of us have a role to play. It might not be on the telly; it might be one person you talk to - one partner who then takes it into the workplace, one sister who tells her baby group, one nephew that talks to his football team. Everything matters because everything is at stake.

maresedotes · 30/09/2018 13:37

Forgot something.

Why does IW never seem to have any empathy for women, you know the sex she’d like to be?

Molokonono · 30/09/2018 13:41

Can I just remind everyone that the sole reason that Posie is in the spotlight is that Susie Green targeted her when she reported her for stating exactly what Susie did.

And the funding was initially to support Posie as it could have been anyone being investigated and told not to leave the country for stating what actually happened as told by Susie.

Posie made nothing up. And this is her way of responding to the harassment and targeting BY Susie. She didn't raise her head above the parapet, she was one of many at the time - it's just that she was pointed out and expected to cower and she is having none of it.

I am sure if I was in the pub with her we'd end up having a massive barney as we come from completely different ends of the spectrum.

But that doesn't mean she isn't absolutely fucking amazing at what she is doing for all women and girls at the moment.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 30/09/2018 13:45

They hate her because she is succeeding.

She's giving women a voice and she's being heard. That's why they are desperate to shut her up by any means necessary.

R0wantrees · 30/09/2018 13:46

Why does IW never seem to have any empathy for women, you know the sex she’d like to be?

April 2018 IW opinion about Mumsnet, Justine Roberts, women who not capitulate to IW etc is made explicit here:

www.pinknews.co.uk/2018/04/24/india-willoughby-transphobia-opinion-worried-for-my-life-mumsnet/

this opinion piece by India Willoughby followed the interview with Julia Hartley Brewer and JUstine Roberts. Towards the end Justine Roberts comments about it 'not being all about you India'

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 30/09/2018 13:47

I support Posie.

Tartyflette · 30/09/2018 13:47

I think there was a deliberate and possibly orchestrated Twitter pile-on after the This Morning programme -- the comments were so one-sided, as opposed to the Sky News programme previously.
Also there was egregious bullying behaviour by the presenters.
However the comments underneath the Mail story are overwhelmingly supportive of Posie. Yay!

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 30/09/2018 13:49

So yes, Posie Parker ate my homework, ruined my crops, turned my hair grey and has given the dog runs.

Yeah, and I'm pretty sure she's the reason I don't win the lottery and didn't get in to Harvard.

Well, that and the fact that I don't buy lottery tickets and have never applied to Harvard although I identify as a lottery-winning Harvard graduate.

But facts, eh. Who needs 'em when you've got an identity.
