I love this. Particularly her point about cognitive dissonance.

Please let Posie back in MN CakeFlowersGlitterballGin

DeRigueurMortis · 14/09/2018 01:40

I'm not going to pretend I agree with everything Poise says, but I throughly admire her determination not to be cowed and to continue to speak openly.

I also have to say I genuinely enjoyed watching that YouTube "rant" and found myself nodding, posturing and sighing in sympathy.

Recently, this subject came up on a night out (friends party).

What surprised me most was that the people sympathetic to the TWAW mantra were the women. All of the men, without exception were vociferously GC.

There was only myself and one other women (out of 12) who either a) felt able to be publicly GC b) hadn't drunk the KoolAid.

Lots of comments about "free expression" and being "brave" etc and a total lack of understanding of the implications - which when pointed out were met with the classic "I'm sure that's an exaggeration"/"it won't happen" and
"you sound really quite mean DeRig l'm shocked you sound transphobic".

I was bloody shocked at the naivety frankly.

Well it's done now and I'm publicly out as GC.

So as I put on a post on another thread, I'm
going to adopt the point by a GC Fem on twitter who said you may as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb, because in this "debate" if your not 100% with the TRA manifesto then you're against it.

I've ordered my red "hands of my rights" tee-shirt and plan to wear it proudly and I'm now out on social media.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 14/09/2018 06:05

tl;dr

It's all about "including women".

Then that's gaslighted as "excluding men".

Girls are being brainwashed in schools into thinking that they are wrong if they want female-only spaces.

GColdtimer · 14/09/2018 08:00

Posie if you are reading you have inspired me. Was so incensed by British Gymnastics I thought fuck it and am being far more vocal on social media and at the school gate.

Women are listening, they are mostly horrified. Even people who would never call themselves feminists and are deeply unpolitical are listening.

So thank you Posie. And @MNHQ utter shame on you for silencing her.

Datun · 14/09/2018 09:02

Perhaps HQ could consider an amnesty for posters who have been banned through impassioned comments. Not those who are spiteful, or deliberately goady. Just imprudent and maybe unguarded.

How about it HQ? It's been a hell of a guideline rollercoaster. And frustrating for all concerned.

There is no doubt about it, women are being silenced elsewhere. For the most ridiculous infractions. It's not right.

HQ will always be able to maintain their control. And point to deletions and warnings if they are under pressure from transactivists.

But surely wholesale, lifetime bans are unnecessary.

@DeRigueurMortis the reason that your male friends are more GC is probably sadly that as men themselves , they have a more realistic view of the lengths that some men will go to in order to get sexual access to women. This kind of behaviour is totally alien to women.

MnerXX · 14/09/2018 10:58

Is it likely that think MNHQ are reading every one of the threads and would pick up any pleas for reinstating banned GC posters?

nauticant · 14/09/2018 11:04

I was just going to post the same ChiaraRimini. Men generally aren't much interested in the analysis but many intuitively have a good idea of the risks that can come from sexual fetishes. When they see the warning signs they are often quite comfortable in dropping a benefit of the doubt approach.

It's: inside view + lack of female socialisation.

DeRigueurMortis · 14/09/2018 11:53

Chiara/Nauticant - I suspect you are correct.

Though to be fair, some of the men did seem reasonably "clued up" - they'd obviously been reading Janice Turner in The Times for example.

I also wondered how much it had to do with socialisation in the sense that the men didn't feel the need to be "kind"/"nice" as well as being realistic about some people's motivations.

I have reported Datun's post to try to bring it to MNHQ's attention. if other people Agree With Datun (we need mugs with that on really), It may be worth doing the same.

FermatsTheorem · 14/09/2018 12:23

In my experience decent men are under no illusions about the worst behaviour of a small but non-negligible section of their sex who are abusive bastards. (And I've spent much of my life, through hobbies and choice of occupation, in male dominated environments where, after a while, you start to be treated as "honourary bloke" and become privvy to their conversations).

Which is one reason why a man who spends too much of his time NAMALT-ing, "women-do-it-too"-ing and minimising bad male behaviour (violence, and most particularly sexual violence) immediately sets my alarm bells ringing. Usually it's a case of "the gentleman doth protest too much."

AnyFucker · 14/09/2018 12:31

Also reported Datun's post

Sorry, wrong thread. Blush

Shampooeeee · 14/09/2018 12:51

Brilliant rant from Posie. My favourite part was when she referred to “the other dickhead”.

MnerXX · 14/09/2018 14:03

Reported Datun's post as well

FloralBunting · 14/09/2018 14:23

I just checked through my 'I'm on' post list, and saw two posts by known GC posters saying they had reported Datun's post and I thought everything had gone nuclear...Shock

YetAnotherSpartacus · 14/09/2018 14:25

Yeah - I thought Datun had lost the plot too.

Theswaggyotter · 14/09/2018 14:46

Phew me too I’m glad it’s just to highlight this for attention of mnhq!

MnerXX · 14/09/2018 15:00

Oopsie! Sorry for anxiety caused!

PerverseConverse · 14/09/2018 21:53

My report has been passed up to the powers that be. Anyone else had a reply?
