Right now!

Come on, MN alone cannot take the blame. Stella herself must have known that this would come up!

I thought the point of guestposts rather than webchats was that they didn't have to engage anyway..

I am suspicious of Stellas motives, to be honest, if its tomorrow. She must know that not many MPs will be able to do anything at a days notice? And that many won't even check their emails tonight.

AngryAttackKittens · 04/09/2018 22:41

Agreed that late the day before is not the time you ask if you are an organized person genuinely trying to muster support. Would most MPs even read new messages from constituents just before the vote?

Vickyyyy · 04/09/2018 22:58

Sietersofmercy and stefiewoodcock are clearly tagteam TRAs.

I just had a reply deleted, that was in reply to stefies suggestion that basically the meaning of misogyny needs to be widened to include male people, for fucks sake. But this

I've reported those comments to the mods. Apologies for that horrendous abuse, hopefully those abusive trolls will be removed.

Along with other questionable comments, kind of proves that they are just trying to get women banned.

BettyDuMonde · 04/09/2018 23:19

Tried to post this but the thread disapparated

....................

I looked like a bloated, dead, fish postpartum.

It’s a funny night on Mumsnet when shaming new mums is ok, but criticising porn isn’t.

Better hurry up with the anti misogyny laws, us women clearly need them to stay safe.

HavingALittleBabyToolshed · 04/09/2018 23:22

I’m really confused about who posted a post partum photo of someone and where they did it.

We can't be trusted past midnight, you know.

Vickyyyy · 04/09/2018 23:30

A specific mod, how is lightening fast at removing womens posts (though oddly enough, seems to have left a few questionable ones from male people) and is very quick with the banhammer.

New intake?

AngryAttackKittens · 04/09/2018 23:33

We can't be trusted past midnight, you know.

Just don't feed us, and absolutely do not pour water anywhere in our vicinity.

BarrackerBarmer · 04/09/2018 23:35

I had a post all ready to go when that thread was deleted too.

Heads up women on a Twitter user called StephieWoodcock who may (or may not of course) be the same StephieWoodcock posting on that thread tonight.
Here's what I had to say...

If you're the same StephieWoodcock that publicly posted private pictures of a postpartum woman taken immediately after birth to mock her for not looking like Marilyn Monroe, the same StephieWoodcock that is currently retweeting gleefully the news that your pals are about to leak hundreds of screen grabs from private conversations from gender critical women, the same StephieWoodcock that retweets the person who outed Challenor's child victim, the same StephieWoodcock that appears to endorse on twitter the idea that a misogyny crime should be wielded BY male people AGAINST female people - that's right folks, would like to see women (the people with gynaecology) prosecuted for misogyny against MALE people (the people without gynaecology) ....if that's you, then I'd like to refine my earlier post.
I have not one shred of doubt that you will ever be a victim of misogyny.

You're already a misogynist though, dickhead.

@Vickyyyy , the comments I reported were abusive insults of a trans woman based on her trans identity. I had comments deleted for mistakes not reading the rules as I am relatively new. However abusing someone on the forum is surely not to be tolerated no matter what you think of their opinions?

Vickyyyy · 04/09/2018 23:37

What kind of abusive insults? I don't remember any abusive insults, though there was some poking fun at their name.

SistersOfMercy · 04/09/2018 23:37

@BarrackerBarmer , if Stephie posted pics of someone and mocked them on here she would surely have been banned? Regardless let the mods do their job and ban her for that, don't insult her, definitely not with transphobic slurs.

AngryAttackKittens · 04/09/2018 23:37

There are certain others I'd suggest not feeding either, regardless of the time of day.

FloralBunting · 04/09/2018 23:38

Blimey, wimmin, I go away for a few days and I come back to this? You just never behave properly do you?

Vickyyyy · 04/09/2018 23:39

Baracker, they were the same, have the thread still up in another window and they said this

'Yes, that's right - pile onto the person you accuse of trolling a known racist, thereby deflecting from addressing the points raised in this thread....

I would suggest both "sides" in this nonsensical farce (gender-critical and trans) have done things against their better nature, but defending a known racist is pretty unconscionable tbh....'

KatherinaMinola · 04/09/2018 23:42

Sounds like StephieWoodcock might be a GF based on what Barracker says. Either it's the same person, or it's someone else deliberately invoking that person and pretending to be them (pretending that's their real name being made fun of).

MNHQ ought to take a look.

Datun · 04/09/2018 23:46

Bloody hell, I missed all this.

Has nothing changed since Jess Phillips and Harriet Harman came on?

Still no closer to defining the word woman?

But apparently in the process of redesigning the word misogyny.

WHAT ARE THEY ALL SO SCARED OF.

IAmLurkacus · 04/09/2018 23:48

I was all for misogyny being made a hate crime.

However, a) Stella Creasy being pro it and b) this wording ‘based on the victim having (or being presumed to have) a particular sex characteristic’ make me stop and think is this actually a very, very bad idea.

OvaHere · 04/09/2018 23:50

I do feel that if all other protected characteristics are protected by hate crime legislation then it's both fair and logical that misogyny should be included too.

However in this current climate it's potentially going to be disastrous if it's based on gender feelings and not the reality of sex. It will end up being an ill thought law that no doubt at some point will be used against women rather than protecting them.

The fact Stonewall are all over this is a massive red flag as they have made it abundantly clear again and again that they don't give a shit about actual women.

BettyDuMonde · 04/09/2018 23:50

Cannot read your comments, SistersofMercy without immediately thinking,

‘Hey now’
‘Hey now, now’

drradfem · 04/09/2018 23:53

Aww I spent the whole train home writing my comment to Stella and I abided by the rules and everything! Hmm

FloralBunting · 04/09/2018 23:54

Frankly, I'm against it in the final analysis. In the current climate, there is no way making misogyny a hate crime would not be used against women. If laws against rape, domestic violence, and all manner of other crimes against women are currently ineffective in protecting women because of all sorts of vested interests and mitigating factors, who in heaven's name thinks another layer of box ticking is going to protect us?
You can't magic up an end to misogyny through grandstanding proposals on the one hand while simultaneously working with people who are doing everything in their power to row back the scant rights women have secured.

BettyDuMonde · 04/09/2018 23:54

It was a good comment!

SistersOfMercy · 04/09/2018 23:54

@BettyDuMonde, one of my favourites, I saw the very lovely Mr Eldritch at Sheffield as a student, a long while ago
