"A young politician and transgender activist who is running for deputy leadership of the Green Party was fighting for her political life last night after it emerged that she had used her father as her election agent even though he faced charges of raping and torturing a 10-year-old girl."

Beyond, she only had three children with David. Her other three children are/were not his.

CaitlynsCat · 26/08/2018 20:07

Tina Challenor had numerous health problems as of 2010 including physical pain, various mental health conditions including conversion disorder (which is essentially a sort of Munchausens of yourself as I understand it).

It was noted that her complex physical mental problems suggested she could not effectively parent her children, and that the exposure of her children to her mental health issues could affect them negatively in copying her behaviour.

There was not much wrong with David, however 'anger problems' are noted.

WTF?!?!

This is worse than I thought. What's the script regarding taking an advert out in The Times or something? Could we crowdfund?

How can we get this out, make this public?

If the usual channels aren't working?

lowtide · 26/08/2018 20:16

The more I read the sadder I feel.
Aimee just wasn’t able to make proper decisions. She doesn’t deserve vitriol.

The Green Party really should have looked after her better and been able to stop this happening and offer her some help.

I really cannot believe the Green Party in all of this. Aimee is being vilified when it’s hifhly likely she is a victim

LadybirdsAreBirds · 26/08/2018 20:19

That is the saddest thing to read. She didn't have a chance

TerfsUp · 26/08/2018 20:19

conversion disorder (which is essentially a sort of Munchausens of yourself as I understand it

This condition used to be known as hysteria. It happens when the person develops physical symptoms that are psychological in origin.

lowtide · 26/08/2018 20:20

Not really surprised she suffers from that.

TerfsUp · 26/08/2018 20:21

Correction - I was thinking of Somatic Disorder. You were correct, CaitlynsCat.

CaitlynsCat · 26/08/2018 20:22

"Transgender is innate. It's caused by a flush of hormones in the womb."

TerfsUp · 26/08/2018 20:22

Fuck that. Aimee is willing to throw women under a bus and is NOT a victim.

OrchidInTheSun · 26/08/2018 20:23

I agree that AC is a victim but they are also an aggressor not least because of the power the Greens gave them. I lay the responsibility solely at the door of the Green Party. They carried out no due diligence. They failed to carry out safeguarding checks.

AC is unfit for public office but that is not their problem. The Green Party is dead in the water. They are utterly incompetent.

Having said that, none of the other major parties are looking good at the moment but they're not looking after a bloke who raped and tortured a 10 Year old girl.

BettyDuMonde · 26/08/2018 20:25

needmoresleep

The Times article was wrong - the kids were not returned, they just ‘aged out’ of the system at 16.

lowtide · 26/08/2018 20:26

Well Aimee almost definitely is a victim of one kind or another after reading that court report.

CaitlynsCat · 26/08/2018 20:28

It would appear from Aimee's statement that Aimee knew the victim.

This makes Aimee's decision to publicly support the victim's rapist essentially right until the moment who was found guilty of horrifying crimes all the more disgusting.

Popchyk · 26/08/2018 20:28

Aimee has done plenty to harass and intimidate people within their own party and thousands of women outside the party.

And chose to side with a child rapist and abuser for years, whilst simultaneously campaigning aggressively to end sex-based protections for women and girls. Worked with their father to serve injunctions to silence people in the party who are against self-ID.

That's the reality.

Yes, AC has been damaged. Clearly.

That does not negate the damage that AC has done to many people.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/08/2018 20:29

Aimee was a victim. But being a victim does not excuse you being a complete dick.

Needmoresleep · 26/08/2018 20:30

Betty, even so I assume, from a very tangential awareness of a family where there was someone arrested for sex offences involving minors, that bail conditions included clear restrictions on contact with minors under the age of 18, including family members.

Just as aside conversion disorder is a very controversial diagnosis. It is quite often given when nothing shows up as an x-ray and the doctors are getting pissed off with not being able to understand what is going on.

I know several people who were given it as a diagnosis and they all ended up having genuine physical illnesses.

So whatever else is the case please don't make assumptions about her health. Multiple sclerosis used to be diagnosed as conversion disorder. I've even known a child who went blind because of cancer be given that label. The science behind it is extremely flimsy.

Thanks.

wonderstuff · 26/08/2018 20:33

FWIW I think it’s plausible that Aimee either wasn’t aware or was manipulated to thinking her father was innocent until he was found guilty. This man will be extremely manipulative and is no doubt convincing, he continued to plead innocence and forced a trial even though he knew there was overwhelming evidence against him.

I was friends once with a guy who later was convicted of awful assault against a young girl. No one who knew him had any idea, not a clue. After he was found guilty a few things, with hindsight, made some sense, but we could never have guessed before, you just don’t think those things about someone you believe to be a decent person.

GP need to take a long look at their safeguarding and this should be national news. But I’m not sure AC isn’t a victim here, it’s a likely awful childhood they’ve had.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/08/2018 20:37

They were returned

Given what has now transpired, I hope that Coventry SS will also be having a serious look at the way they work as clearly the children should not have been allowed to live with Challenor.

Popchyk · 26/08/2018 20:37

If AC is genuinely sorry, then AC should consider devoting their life to ending fossil fuels. AC is supposed to be green, right? Or running 45 marathons or something.

There are many great causes to which any person can devote themselves. The Greens might have some ideas.

Anyone with even a whit of self-awareness would avoid any role that even touches on the boundaries of women and children.

lowtide · 26/08/2018 20:39

I don’t think you can blame SS in this. They clearly tried very hard to safeguard the children.
It’s amaxing what a relatively intelligent abuser can get away with

CaitlynsCat · 26/08/2018 20:39

OrchidInTheSun - they were

That report is from 2010, in 2014 in care again (other sources suggest from 2013 at least):

Tina doesn't appear to have any kind of learning difficulties at all.

CaitlynsCat · 26/08/2018 20:42

TC also (very, very strong) opioid-dependent apparently.
