"A young politician and transgender activist who is running for deputy leadership of the Green Party was fighting for her political life last night after it emerged that she had used her father as her election agent even though he faced charges of raping and torturing a 10-year-old girl."

I can't find where I read it now - there is a mysterious lack of dates in all reports, so it may have been deleted...?

CaitlynsCat · 26/08/2018 18:35

There is a disturbing statement in the family law report which suggests that Challenor planned this meticulously.

wonderstuff · 26/08/2018 18:37

Just wanted to say thanks for putting up this thread, prompted me to vote in GP leadership election, I’d forgotten about it.

Bienchen · 26/08/2018 18:37

ItsAllGoingToBeFine t's good to see that Aimee took all the twitter feedback on the greens statement on board - Aimee's statement is much more appropriate I think. Appropriate? Honestly? It is all about AC! Did not know the full extent (just how much??), victims (plural). Shares hobbies with dad of (cough) photography and computing. The more I see the more I get the feeling that these are examples of omega xy chromosome bearers that enjoy the special status the trans umbrella affords.

Bienchen · 26/08/2018 18:39

AC the transperson has about as much in common with old school transsexuals as haddock with vegan food.

WomblingWoman · 26/08/2018 18:41

Ok so AC has withdrawn from the Deputy Leadership election but is "only" taking a break from the spokesperson role as I understand it??

I make no comment on AC's perception of DC's guilt, but the decision to remain in the house and maintain close links whilst using DC as an election agent was not just "poor judgement" - especially for someone offering advice to organisations such as the girl guides/schools etc that have safeguarding implications. Not disclosing this information to the party prior to standing in the DL contest also shows a dismal lack of basic political acumen and a total lack of empathy for the victim(S?).

Also noted the use of women "plural" and lack of use of the word child....

Am noticing the parallels between Jess here...a statement then head down for no further comment (from the individual or the organisation) - presumably to leave the door open a few months down the line when it's blown over....

AC and JB - we will remember. You can count on it.

Destinysdaughter · 26/08/2018 18:43

If the offence was in 2010, but not reported till 2015, then that torture chamber in the attic must have been there for all those years, since the police found it still there as the victim described. So the obvious question is, how many other victims were abused in there..?

SirVixofVixHall · 26/08/2018 18:51

Destinysdaughter - that is just what I was thinking. Before and after this little girl. It is just unbearable.

wonderstuff · 26/08/2018 18:52

AC is listed on the ballot as standing for DL position today, so not sure she’s withdrawn. The Equalities position is up for election currently and she isn’t standing for that.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 26/08/2018 18:56

While I piece my own feelings back together, I want to underscore that my thoughts are firmly with the survivors of my father’s abhorrent behavior including young women whose lives will be impacted forever. I ask for privacy while I rebuild myself and while I look after my mum who is also coming to terms with this.

Aimee then goes on to say that being a transwoman is her own personal journey, nothing to do with their DF.

But I find that difficult to believe. David Challenor is a very perverted man with, we now know, multiple victims. He got himself into positions of trust where he could access children. God only knows how many cases may come to light. More than one, we already know.

Aimee grew up with this man, with "dad's space" in the attic she wasn't allowed in once she'd grown up. I find it impossible to believe that Aimee had no idea that her DF was a dangerous, perverted man, and I'm guessing that Aimee and her DM were terrified of him.

I can't imagine Aimee's transition could possibly be unconnected to her experiences growing up, and I'm sure they have made the poor soul deeply dysfunctional.

That someone who grew up with all this thinks no one would ever abuse Self-ID to access girls and women makes absolutely zero sense. We've got dad identifying as a 6 y.o called Lucy and dressed in child's dress and nappy raping a 10 y.o. Then we have Aimee telling women to STFU about our boundaries because predatory males would never exploit the situation when Aimee knows all too well (not saying she knew about the crimes, but the atmosphere in that house must've been poisonous) that some men have predatory intentions against women and girls.

Apologies. I was being cynical and I forgot to put "s around "appropriate". Aimee took on board the importance of using words like abhorrent and devestating, and addressed many of the criticisms about her. Aimee also worded the statement very carefully to avoid actually saying anything new.

www.theguardian.com/society/2018/jun/06/aimee-challenor-theresa-may-lgbt-inequality-transgender-green-party

This was in June. Don't tell me that The Guardian did not know about a pending court case of this magnitude only a couple of months before the trial.

What the hell is going on?

Or should I be crafting a fez or a fedora out of tinfoil?

whattimeislove · 26/08/2018 19:02

I'm putting together 2 + 2 and potentially making 5.

What was said in the family report that someone mentioned?

lowtide · 26/08/2018 19:04

I doubt they did know. The case wasn’t reported at all. You couldn’t google it pre-sentencing. Which I find interesting. The only reason I can think is that there are other ongoing cases.

IfIWasABirdIdFlyIn2ACeilingFan · 26/08/2018 19:08

Let’s be clear, Aimee didn’t word that statement at all!! Someone in the GP wrote it and Aimee put their name to it.

hackmum · 26/08/2018 19:15

How do we know the attack was in 2010? I haven't seen that in the reports.

QuestaVecchiaCasa · 26/08/2018 19:18

Apologies if this has been posted before, but has anyone seen the Green's response to the GRA consultation which Amiee has linked to:

lgbtiqa.greenparty.org.uk/campaigns/gra-consultation-response.html

It'll be useful template when I do my response - obviously my responses will be quite different

hackmum · 26/08/2018 19:20

What's the deadline for the GRA consultation? I wasn't going to submit anything but I think now I will.

BeyondRadicalisationPortal · 26/08/2018 19:21

Hack, I can't find where it was, but I'm almost positive I'm not imagining it; I definitely remember reading that it was December 2010.

All I can think is that it's been removed?

CaitlynsCat · 26/08/2018 19:21

"What was said in the family report that someone mentioned?"

Well, the mother appears to be a very disturbed individual, having neglected children by the previous parent, as well as by David Challenor, she appears to have encouraged the children to believe they were ill when they were not, and also there is a reference to a (found to baseless) report by the mother that one of the children had been inappropriately touched by a third party.

So it seems almost as if fantasy & reality were deliberately blurred.

I note that the mother has referred to herself as 'Reverend', is into Wicca, Paganism, and all kinds of other fantastic stuff, not to mention the father being extremely into his furry identiy as Baloo, to the extent that the children have apparently sought to create costumes for him (Youtube comments).

CaitlynsCat · 26/08/2018 19:22

'previous father' not 'previous parent'
