I wonder where else Sticker Woman will strike? Perhaps woke MPs will get a reminder of biological facts around the vacinity of their offices? Or local counsellors around theirs? Particularly Cambridge.

Maybe also students unions... Goldsmiths?...

CesiraAndEnrico · 12/08/2018 08:23

My DH made a good point that a leaflet with the Anti Female Activist’s own words

Well I certainly think we should celebrate all the voices of the entire sisterhood.

And why not take back control over what day/month/year belongs to whom.

Are we going to sit here and wait for some august body to tell us when we can raise awareness of the pearls of wisdom and profound insight our fair gender liberally cast before the swine ?

I think not.

Looks like #NoSelfID would be a good hashtag to use.

I've been compelled to join up just to say - that is an excellent idea. Smile

Where are Pink News based?

Ereshkigal · 12/08/2018 09:48

Not suggesting for one second that anyone should commit such a vile act of vandalism.

YY, I agree.

CesiraAndEnrico so much choice for stunning and brave women in their own words...

"Suck my formaldehyde pickled balls"

"Domestic violence 'gone wrong'" "eggshell skulls"

"Enjoy your erasure"

"I'm going to fuck up some T*s"

So much choice...

I love the colours and font choices BTW...

Beautifulday49 · 12/08/2018 10:21

"An activist is an artist" Gail Dines quote - made me think of you all.

Chalk pens would be a good tool for getting the message out. Not as messy to carry around as actual chalk, they write well on most surfaces and are easily cleaned off.

CesiraAndEnrico · 12/08/2018 10:47

I love the colours and font choices BTW...

Well I like to be inclusive and fulfill entirely reasonable and unthreatening requests for 360°, 24/7 validation.

And... thank you for bringing to my attention more ladies who deserve to be celebrated by a much, much, much wider audience,.

If the Cerne Abbas Giant protest ever comes to fruition (the one involving a ring of protesters and placards), count me in!

Found an interesting instructable.

UpstartCrow · 12/08/2018 11:25

Is it safe to use neat bleach on the pavement? People and dogs will walk through it.

CholloDeNombre · 12/08/2018 11:29

I don't know, really. Best to do research before cleaning selectively.

theOtherPamAyres · 12/08/2018 11:53

I'm no legal expert on this part of the law but

Stickering in a public place comes under 'flyposting'. It is a council matter, not a police matter. Council enforcement officers have little time or resources to investigate and identify flyposters. If caught in the act, a fixed penalty notice may be given (or a warning). Usually, the council rely on the public to complain and do the legwork - a reg no of a car, a phone number or website on the poster.

Using bleach might come under offences to do with 'noxious substances' as well as criminal damage.

KimCheesePickle · 12/08/2018 12:08

How about a stencil of the ahem member in question plus simple pressure hosing on dirty buildings/concrete etc. No need for bleach.

Also, I saw this really cool graffiti thing online where you blend up some moss and yoghurt, then paint on the moss mixture on to your surface. The design develops as the moss grows.

Ereshkigal · 12/08/2018 12:10

Ooh that's clever.

ChattyLion · 12/08/2018 12:28

Well up for using a stencil.
Could use that with all the yoghurt I knit Grin
I have seen those clean stencil on dirty building ones and they are v cool and definitely not damage

fidgetspinner555 · 12/08/2018 21:50

This is my revised leaflet.....comments welcome.

WOMEN!

Did you know that proposed changes to the Gender Recognition Act will mean a man is allowed into women’s spaces just by signing a piece of paper and declaring himself to be a woman? (i.e. toilets, changing rooms, sports teams, refuges, rape crisis, prisons, religious spaces and anywhere else reserved for women)

Did you know females are a protected category under the Equality Act and males would be able to join that category just by signing a piece of paper. Every hard-won bit of legislation that protects women from sex discrimination would effectively disappear.

Write to your MP, fill in the government consultation, tell your friends and family.

It's topical because of the GRA consultation, and media love an excuse to publish a picture of a massive dick, don't they?!"

If you use bleach on a side walk you should wait till it dries to prevent anyone walking on it. It dries quite rapidly.

Absolutely love the moss graffiti! Very inspiring! Wonderful!

And there are also a few, publicly-visible places, close to where I live, where moss graffiti may be suitable!

The article in the link is very informative. I shall have to start experimenting!

CesiraAndEnrico · 13/08/2018 08:19

Just thinking ahead to mid September when a phase 2 might kick in when I'll be flat out and unable to join in.

So I've made these now (download away, the original pdf is massive though will take time, the images download much quicker) in case they come in handy.

The idea is that the design, tone and quotes combine to be memorable to those who didn't know their (or their mum's, daughter's, wife's, girlfriend's) group had had its boundaries redrawn quite this far, quite so unequivocally. With none of the original ring fencing supported by any of the political class. With celebration (rather than protest)fast becoming the only socially acceptable, or permitted response to that.

I'm on an iPad and despite converting everything to universal file formats I have had issues with my print shop when it comes to sizing in the past. Plus there are limits on an iPad in terms of choosing resolution etc. I think I've got the margins right, and I've selected highest resolution every time I had the option.

But

If you want to print any of these I strongly recommend you

1- Always Print Preview and click the "fit to page", landscape option (or something like that, I usually flap vaguely at my printer lady and she does the technical bits) then double check on print preview again.

2- Do a 1 page dummy run in B&W, to check that the sizing and the readability works. Not all printers are as crisp, not all paper avoids the fuzzies, I haven't been able to do a print run (My printer has gone to the seaside with her new baby and is closed for August) so while it looks fine on the screen, don't know how it'll look on paper.

There are big single ones on A4, doubles on A4, Quads on A4 and 9 minicards/bookmarks on A4. I've duplicated images where needed to avoid blank spaces.

And there is the massive, massive, huge, slow to download PDF for people with the patience of several saints.

If any good, download, share freely and come up with cunning plans as per how to use them best when Phase 2 hits. If not, never mind, at least I found something to distract me on a very boring, far too hot day. And I finally got to grips with one of my new apps, so will now be able to use it for work without going at the speed of a snail with a hangover.

LinkyLinky

CesiraAndEnrico · 13/08/2018 08:36

PS, they don't have to be in just sticker form in Phase 2/3/4. They could be used as flyers/little posters stuck up with blu-tack/balls of sticky tape, bookmarks, small piles of mini-cards left for people to pick up and take away.

Whatever you think will motivate people up to pay a bit more attention to the details as the consultation looms nearer and think maybe it does have something to do with them after all.
